8th Feb 2026 (10 weeks ago)Terrible experience purchasing a house through this company. The Woman we dealt with who we believe is possibly a partner repeatedly didn’t find answers to our questions, it seemed as if it were a constant battle throughout, she also came across false and over the top. As far as the owner of the company goes one meeting was enough for us. Occasionally we spoke with other employees who were always friendly and efficient, shame the same can’t be said for management.

16th Dec 2023 (2 years ago)I've had to call up for advice on a couple of occasions and the service provided was fantastic. The reception staff are very polite and the lawyers are always quick to call back
20th Mar 2026 (30 days ago)Had to sell my late Father's property so I asked Melrose and Porteous to do this for me. The team worked hard and I had 17 viewings in the space of 2 weeks and a formal offer within 3 weeks of the sale going live. There were a couple of issues during the sale process that were not in our control but the team were always helpful, willing to find out information and made the process feel easy. I've never sold a property before, so I was anxious about the process; the staff at Melrose and Porteous quickly put any anxiety "to bed". If I decide to sell my property in the future, I would certainly use them again and definitely recommend other people use their services.

22nd Jan 2026 (12 weeks ago)Didn't feel the advert was informative of selling points. Seems very generic amd nothing personal. Also photos did not do property justice. But in a small area he knows what he doing and yes I would recommend him as he just seemed like a friend.
27th Feb 2024 (2 years ago)Our overall experience was totally unsatisfactory. We never received a single enquiry, phone call or any other contact of any kind. We therefore instructed Taits to take our house of the market as we were totally disalusioned with the entire situation, especially as our offer for the house we fancied was accepted on condition that we recieved offers for ours. We have therefore advised Taits of our dissatisfaction and we have now decided to stay put. As they say in live, you live and learn. ??????

9th Mar 2026 (6 weeks ago)Completely waste of time this company,,,, 3 weeks they had our information only to be told that they have now given the property to a friend dont waste people's time if this the underhanded way of doing business also communication is so poor ?????? and it's a constant struggle to get anyone to contact you back with an update just a very bad experience from start to finish could not recommend this office at Galashiels ??????

16th Jan 2024 (2 years ago)Very poor, appear to have overlooked important documents in our missives which we now have to pay for on the sale of our purchase. You pay a solicitor good money to attend to these details. On being made aware of this " not our problem anymore" was the general theme. Tread carefully and make sure they're doing everything they say they're doing.

18th Nov 2024 (1 year ago)If you would like your property grossly under valued with a poor sale's team. Or even a valuation that isn't worth the paper it's written on. I highly recommend using DM hall. Disastrous experience in both selling and valuing 2 seperate property's.

25th Mar 2026 (25 days ago)Very Very poor, trying to search properties in Berwick ONLY and 1 miles radius, and properties come up from all over the area, Foulden to Holy Island. Very frustrating. Tried to search about 10 times, couldn't find the one I was interested in so gave up. Will go with another estate agent. ??
