We have used Chestertons in Kentish Town many times over the years, for both buying and selling properties as well as renting out our flats. They have always found great tenants quickly and have helped the process of buying and selling move along smoothly as well. We continue to use them to find tenants for our flat and will always use them for anything we need in the future.
WORST RENTAL EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE:
Dealing with Chestertons was the most frustrating and time-wasting thing I have ever been through. My flatmates and I put in an application for a property through Chestertons, this got all the way through to the point of receiving our Offer Letter. Then the day that I was expecting to receive an email with our Lease Agreement to sign, the Agent called me up to say the landlord sold the property. First of all, he lied to me and acted as if he had no idea the landlord was selling behind the scenes, a quick google search showed me that in fact it was up for sale on the Chestertons website. Secondly, the Agent knew that I had turned other properties for this one and should have been honest from the start about the intention to sell as now we have missed out on the other opportunities as the application process took two weeks. Thirdly, we had already paid our 50% deposit as well as reference fees which the Agent assured would be transferred back in full immediately. Upon following up (which I had to do multiple times because the Agent was simply unresponsive) I was told the transfer had been made but would take 3 days – UNREASONABLE as my transfer to them was able to go through on the same day. Then when I asked to see proof that the transfer was made, I was promised an email with that proof which should be an immediate email if the transfer was in fact already made – this was never sent to me. I am still in the process of finding out where our deposit is and when we will get it back. This is completely unprofessional on their part and they have made no attempt to appease me and my flatmates after lying to our faces, wasting two weeks of our time, taking our money and then making it difficult to get it back.
I will NEVER deal with Chestertons again, nor would I EVER recommend them to anyone.
I sold my house through KFH recently and I'm glad I did! To say they were professional is an understatement. From start to finish they were superb. KFH had a stream of people viewing from the start, and I received several offers throughout the process. At every point the team were confident they could find me a buyer quickly for the price I was looking for. I dealt mostly with Jayden and Robert, who were just brilliant. A pleasure to deal with. Highly recommended.
Moved into a property yesterday and completely aghast at both the level of after care and the communication displayed. Three people on the tenancy yet we still don’t have three sets of keys. Shelves are hanging off the walls and all works “promised” before moving in have not been carried out. We currently have works “promised” 15 days after our move in date and we have parts of the property unmaintained and filled with far too much detritus for an unfurnished property.
The worst part is that KFH are too busy trying to ascertain blame between James (Lettings), Natasha (management), the landlord, and the previous tenants that they are forgetting that three people are currently trying to live in the property. All calls to our assigned lettings and management agents have not been returned, any calls we have made have been met with apologies that they are currently away or on viewings to try and attain more clients they are clearly unable to accommodate.
Either we’ve been assigned the most ineffective pair of agents or KFH are unaware that, although they are selling and letting houses, they are also selling and letting homes for people to live in.
Pictures attached for reference of shelving, mould and an “unfurnished” flat.
I was looking for a flat to rent in Isle of Dogs and therefore, I made viewing requests through rightmove.co.uk. Holly Jenson from Morgan Randall gave me a call to understand my requirements - likes and dislikes about a flat- and accordingly later on, she booked a series of viewing appointments for me. In addition to this, she was updating me with availability of those flats and was also giving me timely reminder about the viewings. I found her very good in her knowledge about the area and specifications of the apartments. I really liked her approach and it really helped me to decide further. Though, I didn't manage to get the flat from her recommendation, but I liked the way she approached the problem and handled it quite effectively. I rate her very high in her skills. Thanks for your help.
MorgaRandall, The worst of the worst! Whatever you imagine about the service related to tenancy, this agent would be at the bottom, apart from finding you a new house after all. They are eager to find it on the initial several days but THAT'S IT!!
You might get no replies for 10 times of emails by the time when you put your holding deposit in. You might be in trouble as the move-in date would be postponed like me and you may have to wash up your cloth with your hands as the washing machine would stay out of work.
For me, It has passed 18days since I moved in.
I am in a disaster with a stack of dirty cloth, wiggly dinning chairs and not working ventilation and lights in the kitchen. While I first visited this flat to view there was a TV, but the TV has gone on the move-in date. The consultant was Elizabeth and she said "it belonged to the previous tenant. What is wrong?" I had to bought a TV at my expense. They advertised it was furnished and they insisted a furnished flat doesn't mean it provide a TV. She even added "it is very rare to provide a TV when it is a furnished flat." Nonsense!
Anyway at least the consultant should notify me if there was a big removal or big changes between the viewing and the move-in date but there was no excuse or information before I agreed the contract.
Negligent to keep you updated and ignorance of your request and just a representative of a Landlord who doesn't listen to tenants' voice. Those are my impression on MorganRandall.
Asha is one of the great estate agent I ever met. She help me find the perfect place that I really love with a reasonable rental offer that she doing her best to negotiate with the landlord. Overall, I am very happy with the agent and the Morgan Randall Estate Agents Company in Shoreditch branch.
By far, my worst real state experience since I moved to London. A truly unprofessional service that started as soon as we payed the monies. A lack of consumer service, either by solving problems of the flat or by replying complaints.
If you're in a need of a flat, doesn't matter how desperate you are, I'd recommend not to work with them, not even as your last option.
Great service from the Finsbury Park branch office - Daniela was especially understanding and helpful in helping us with our situation!
Horrible unprofessional experience letting with this company, charges for nothing appearing out of thin air, emails with two days notice asking us to be in for a gas check and then charging us £150 as this was not possible. Very slow in fixing repairs and difficult to contact. In future as a tenant I wouldnt agree to let a property with Ludlow Thompson. Not worth the cost and hassle.
Rosie and Peter at JLL are easy to deal with, professional and very local!
They helped sell our apartment quickly when we had found the perfect apartment to move to. They were also the driving force behind getting a deal agreed with the new purchase. Without their help I’m sure the purchase would have fallen through a few times over. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending them.
I very much appreciate the friendly and efficient attitude of all staff I have encountered. It has been the third year that my flat is rented out through JLL. The service could, however, have been much better if assistance can be given to clients who are in need of furnishing tax return due to the rental income. As a client, I do not mind paying a reasonable fee for the completion of rental tax return to HMRC as the procedures are considered complicated. Anyway, JLL's service is strongly recommended.
