Had an extremely unpleasant experience dealing with Gibson Lane as a buyer. A few highlights:
- We had to be very proactive with asking for weekly updates on documents as the sales agent was otherwise not very forthcoming with information
- Sales agent assigned to our case had a habit of leaving work around 3:30, so any inquiries (email or phone) past then would have to wait until the next day
- Sales agent also would randomly not be in on days without any warning or automated email response (like you would expect), so important emails would go unanswered, forcing us to call to check on inquiries
- Sales agent was very condescending in communications, presenting very unfavorable terms while adding "I trust these will be agreeable" or otherwise completely ignoring our concerns
- During negotations for period between exchange and completion, sales agent threatened us by saying that "the market has moved on since your offer and the vendor will put the property on the market and we will sell it for more money" - this is verbatim
- Despite the threats, the sales agent's manager and vendor backed down in the end, showing how toothless they actually were
Please let our hardships be a lesson to all prospective buyers: do not trust anything that Gibson Lane sales agents tell you, they are only concerned with their sales targets and commissions.... Read more
