All the team at Brown and Merry Berkhamsted were very good at making our house sale happen, in particular Amir the Senior Branch Manager. Their valuation proved accurate and their commission charge was very competitive. Although our lengthy chain broke down Amir worked very hard to repair it and achieve an eventual exchange of contracts, particularly in the week before exchange happened. I would strongly recommend Brown and Merry to anyone looking for a reputable estate agent in Berkhamsted.

We had a fantastic experience with Brown and Merry in Berkhamsted from start to finish. We bought our house through them three years ago and, more recently, sold the same property with their help. During our initial purchase, there was a lengthy and difficult legal process, but Amir at Brown and Merry kept us updated throughout and took the stress out of it.
When we decided to sell, we interviewed four different estate agents, and Brown and Merry came out on top in every regard. Their estimate, marketing and strategy was excellent. Lucy, in particular, was incredibly credible. Her passion, energy, and understanding of what we were looking for gave us complete confidence in her ability to sell our house the right way and the top price. She delivered!
Their marketing, outreach, and the open day were all very effective, resulting in us getting the asking price, which was nearly £100,000 more than other estimates from other estate agents. We really put them under pressure at times, and it wasn’t a straightforward sale, but they always had the answers and managed the process, the buyers and us brilliantly!

A buyer was found quite quickly but the path to completion was fraught with issues on the buyer's side. I used Amir and his team after a positive experience of them as a buyer when helping a family member to purchase a couple of years ago. As a purchaser I was politely vetted to ensure I was serious and able to proceed and they checked I was acting promptly to progress the sale and suggested ways I could do this without coming across as overbearing.
This time as a seller I was kept well informed. I felt the market appraisal I got was honest and the finding of a buyer went in the way it was proposed. The progress to completion of the sale was handled efficiently. When there were some delays further down the chain that could have held things up a lot Amir was available to talk through progress and in my opinion did as much as was possible to get the parties in the chain moving to what was ultimately a sale completion at the agreed price. We have used about 12 estate agents to find a family home and Brown and Merry, Harry especially, is hands down a stand out estate agent in and around London. Harry took the time to listen to our brief, what we wanted, and shared with us different options as they came up- it amazed me how he remembered us as so many potential buyers are on their list! I felt like his approach was really tailored to our needs.
Harry has a deep knowledge of all the properties we saw and the ones coming on, so we could ask him anything. He also inspired confidence, we listened to Harry's view and opinion on a few houses that had potential- again, he has the rare gift of seeing beyond furniture and decor to sell a vision of what you could make the house. He went beyond selling the property and is a leader in the field, knowing the trends on supply and demand and also all the insider knowledge on the area (including school catchment areas!!) I wouldn't hesitate to use Brown and Merry and Harry particularly again when we come to sell the house in the future- in fact, I would insist on him.

I put my property on the market with Brown & Merry in Berkhamsted. I found the office staff to be friendly, helpful and always professional. Harry, in particular, stood out in regard to his professionalism and reliability. Toward the end of the conveyancing process Amir was responsive and reliable in chasing up final things. Where the Berkhamsted office stood out for me was in the small details. If they agreed to phone me back they did phone me back within the timescales we'd agreed. They were honest and upfront at all times and reassuring to deal with during the more stressful parts of the process. Their 'go-to' solicitors were absolutely excellent as well. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend their Berkhamsted office if you live in the area and are thinking of putting your property on the market. Thankfully, Brown and Merry and their head of sales Amir is anything but this!.
Having recently exchanged on the sale of my home I have to write that my experience with Amir and B&M sales was 100% positive from start to finish.
Amir was direct, available and realistic from the outset. I feel that both myself and the seller are happy and that is mainly due to the careful balancing act of Amir in managing expectations and knowing when to push and pull so that both parties were able to achieve a positive result.
This experience has persuaded me more than ever that e-agents are not going to take the job of well trained, courteous and professional agents like Amir anytime soon and I'm happy for it !

Nothing but positive things to say about these guys. Particularly Harry and Amir who we had most of our dealings with. Nothing was too much for Harry and he was extremely attentive and helpful throughout the process of buying our house. Despite trying to sell in a very difficult market, Amir Ghomshei and his wonderful team in Berkhamsted did a brilliant job and sold the house. We wanted to do a little test of the market to start with, albeit in January, not a great time either, that proved a little slow. So, on the expert advice of the Team we took the house off the market for a while and 're-branded'. Having put the house back on at the end of April this year for prime selling time, we were delighted to have two offers within 3 weeks. My experience was pretty appalling. They talked a very good talk when I engaged them, but six weeks later they'd failed to get a valuation done and hadn't got my flat onto the market. They didn't contact me to explain the delay. Eventually I emailed them telling them not to bother and that I would go elsewhere. They didn't even acknowledge. Shortly after this nonsense, an identical flat in the same block as mine sold for a decent price - so thanks to them, I missed a potential buyer.

We did not buy/sell through Brown and Merry, but we did use the services of their Mortgage Services Consultant Eilish Crowther. Eilish was excellent - highly knowledgeable, great at communicating and cheerful and patient no matter how many questions I asked. She was easy to contact both by phone and email, which made arranging our mortgage much less stressful than our previous experiences dealing directly with banks - it was a relief to be able to have confidence in the person arranging our mortgage. Eilish was very clear in explaining terms of mortgage deals, and was able to tailor to our specifications. I would highly recommend Eilish as her professionalism, availability to respond and knowledge was of great benefit to reducing the stress of moving house.
