(Original post, 2022) The Croydon Leaders team have been a genuinely lovely source of support when we first moved in and throughout our (renewed) tenancy. Kim, who handles the maintenance queries, amongst many other things, has been immensely patient, responsive and generally lovely. Natalie, who has managed inspections has also been very personable and kind. It's good to have reliable letting agents, given how we have all had at least one (in my case, many) poor agents who make the whole experience all the more painful. To their credit, the Croydon team are excellent, enough so we have renewed with them.
Edit as of July 2024: my flatmate and I recently left the property after staying for a few years. My initial opinion hasn't changed. If we weren't both relocating for new posts the other side of the country, we would happily have stayed at the property and with Leaders. Kim in particular has always been highly responsive, professional and yet personable. The other staff we have interacted with have turned over quite a bit so it's hard to comment much on each individual. All in all, for those wary of bad landlords and agents, the croydon branch have served us well. All the best to the team, and thanks again.

For some reason they decided to ignore my calls for no reason. You think they want to help people but once you may not have a lot of money they ignore your calls. I even had a viewing next Monday and they let the property out. Very shocking and extremely unprofessional. All I wanted was help in finding a property...why would they treat people like this...disgusting. Shiophan and the Branch manager were not helpful at all. Initially Shiophan told me I was eligible for a property with my salary, then later told me I'm not, calculated it wrong and got my hopes up. Guess this Branch like to discriminate

Whilst I had " extensive teething problems" moving into my rental property no fault of Leaders or the owner purely due to 100 % previous tenant who defaulted on rent leaving this luxury house in filth dead mice, maggots etc my landlord has not put my rent up and "Jean" Leaders Surbiton and others an absolute legend. I thank the Leaders team and owner for having faith in me and knowing the owner's family going through bereavement now something I have been through I will with good manners and decorum pay a block of rent in advance as that is simply good manners.

*Update*
After colluding with the landlord to steal my deposit, they both failed miserably. Following an adjudication by The Deposit Service I was given back over 95% of my deposit. TDS went through the "evidence" claimed by the landlord and supported Leaders and found them to be lying and/or misleading on almost the entire claim. I was elated.
Please never accept what these vandals say. Hold your breath, counter the claim through TDS and you will get your deposit back. You don't even need to provide evidence as ironically it's the Leaders pack of lies in reporting the condition of the property that is used to decide if the claim is valid. The crooks were hoisted by their own petard!
Sometimes justice is served. Happy days!

When there is an issue - they drop you like a hot stone. One complaint from another resident in a small private block. Totally unsubstantiated. Literally no evidence. The gentleman claimed that someone had attacked him outside the building and that the attackers were associated with me. Apparently the police were called. I was in bed asleep. No one knocked on my door. No police knocked on my door. I have no idea who these people were.
The individual who made these claims happens to be a mate of the landlord who lives overseas.
Next thing I know i get eviction notice. Leaders suddenly disappear. No inspection on the day I move out. 5 weeks later no word from Leaders property management team. When I try to call them often no one is around. Working from home but check their social media ;-)
Finally get one of the team on the phone. They tell me the landlord is going to steal my entire deposit. The claim is that I wrecked the gaff. Fortunately I have pictures taken on the day I moved out. I ask Leaders PM how could I have trashed the place between their regular inspection. They become hostile and refuse to engage. If I were you I'd stay away from this rabble. Unless you are a landlord as I suspect they collude with the owners at the clients expense.

Elijah Johnson was my Leaders Negotiator and he was really helpful & fast w.r.t the process; within 15 days all my viewing, confirmation, background checks and move in dates were confirmed. He was really helpful whenever i have troubled him with the details asked. One thing which could be improved is the car parking permit which i was not given by the landlord and had to follow up with the estate community. I am really disappointed with the service of Croydon branch.
Provided them all the documents and holding deposit. Everything was fine until the day they were supposed to hand over the key but on the same day they asked me to provide further documents even they knew I had given notice to my previous landlord and that day was my last day at my old property. Basically they just found an excuse to turn down the offer. Its almost two weeks now and chasing for my refund for holding deposit but yet no luck.
I would not nominate one person only who gave bad services, I would say whole letting team was unprofessional and did not have enough knowledge about the property and landlord.
Would not go to them in future at any cost , also have warned my family and friends about their services.

So many nice reviews here i am not sure how, because with me it has been really disappointing. Every time i see a property online and want to view each time i call there is always a lie to be told “no key or waiting to hear from the landlord , will let you know when we got the key” than boom property has been let agreed. Another time property it is not listed by them after it’s been posted online clearly says Leaders. Another time not even a single property accepting kids. All lies. I do not recommend this agency at all, think they have their people they renting to. I will definitely avoid calling them again.

Unfortunately like others, my experience has been poor t best. Great service when they want your business (rent/tenant) but once moved in the property management has been terrible - poor comms (if at all), a property manager (kim) who seemed surprised when I asked for the courtesy of updates on fixing issues at the flat we rent, buck passing and failing to resolve issues within their own appointed timescales.
My first time of using a “managing” agent and I have to say, it’s not been good….. seems they want to be your best friend when they want your money, but then just ignore you once they have your money and fail to manage the property at all.

I have had a very pleasant experience with this company. The manager Rezah was very delightful and made the entire process of moving so effortless. Usually when I am moving home there are stresses that come along with the experience, but dealing with Rezah I was assisted throughout the entire journey and all of my enquires were dealt with haste.
Also Elijah, who showed me around the property had such a great disposition. Usually estate agents have a terrible reputation of pulling the wool over peoples eyes, but he was completely genuine and honest throughout the entire viewing.
I highly recommend this company and look forward to working with them in the future.

AVOID THIS COMPANY! This company have really let me down. I put my faith into this company and rented a property from them over a video the sent me of the house. They completely mislead me to a house which was promised to clean but in fact is probably one of the dirtiest houses I have ever seen. There is issues from random stuff being left in the house to rats and mice being in the house. After complaining to them on the day I moved they haven’t even bothered to help me. I have moved here from 3 hours away with my wife and kids and all of our stuff and are now living in a hotel because the house is so dirty and this company don’t even care that they have made us homeless. Absolutely the worst letting agency I have ever experienced. THEY DO NOT EVEN DESERVE 1 STAR.

If I could give 0 I would. I’m not happy at all! My experience at the start was fantastic with find my property with the lettings team but the property management team are horrendous! Never answer their phone, when they do, they are rude and extremely unhelpful. Now they are not helping at all with fixing my issues in my flat which have been raised since my move in date which was March of this year.
As an estate agent myself, I am appealed at the service provided.

The place I was interested in was fantastic and unbelievable value for money, its a shame about the process in trying to get it. Lack of response time, poor customer service (every time i called they sounded fed up when all I wanted to do was move into THEIR PLACE), disorganisation and people generally not caring whatsoever. Nobody ever chased me, it was me calling everyday and getting 'someone will get in touch or email' and never did. I had one string of emails with one of the property managers Paul, but since then its gone completely quiet. I have requested an update by email and tried to call, nothing. The current tenants are apparently in arrears of 1k + for people who lived in the place BEFORE them and I had to basically ask them that if I moved in, would I be responsible for this? which they eventually advised me I would be, but only because I asked. One of the current tenants hasn't even signed a contract!! I call and email with nothing back, the current tenants have the same issue. I needed a mattress changed and I kept being told the landlord lives overseas and that they don't have a response from him. The move in date was meant to be 25th September. I could literally go on all day with the issues I have had with this place. i think I have spoke to 1 helpful person who advised me that the place is sold as a whole and that everybody is joint liable for everything, including damages and rent etc. Requested an 'update' from paul over a week ago and this was because he had not replied to a previous email, so yeah, giving up on this! Awful experience I am afraid.

If I could give no star, I would. This lettings agent in Croydon does not care about its tenants. They are misleading, manipulative and the worst lettings agent (this branch) I've ever dealt with.
My family and I suffered from stress and encountered major mould issues around the entire flat. We endured over three months of bad black mould smell which led us terminate our contract. Because of their breach of the contract and not willing to solve this issue, we manage to leave the property early. If we were to stay any longer, my family including my baby (under 1) would have suffered serious health problems.

I've already escalated my complaints with the Ombudsman after receiving a poor final viewpoint from the customer care associate. I am really disappointed with how you dealt with my 30 page complaint letter and will be taking this as far as I can.

Sadie has been a total angel, working with her has been awesome. We have not had the easiest time of it with our sale (COVID related issues), but she was with us every step of the way. Myha at Leaders was absolutely brilliant at helping us find a flat with not much time before we needed to move. I had spoken with other local estate agents; Myha was the only one that really listened to our needs and even stayed late on a Friday to help with speeding up the process. Its fair to say that a big part of why we chose the flat was because of her.

These guys actually changed my perception of estate agents because I came with a really bad experience from my previous agents who played my hard earned money.
When I explained it to Shivon who is a trainee Negotiator she understood what had happened and how to make this a experience to change my opinion after my bad experience with Bairstow Eves!!!.
I think she went beyond what she could do to make it swift as possible. And special thanks to the Lettings Manager Reece (sorry if I got your name wrong mate) for the effort he put in fixing the last bit of the puzzle.
The whole team was helpful But again hats off to Shivon for a people skills and I think Bairstow Eves should take lessons from her on customer service.

Contacted leaders and was assisted by Myha. Whilst the property we were enquiring about was unavailable, Myha was able to provide a suitable alternative which we loved.
The transition into the property was seemless and we were regularly updated along the process. Whilst we did not opt for it, the no deposit option was very tempting and would definitely recommended for those without finances for a deposit upfront.
I would definitely use leaders again and would recommend them to all.

Kurwahn was an absolute gem through the whole process of urgently moving through a global pandemic, facilitating the moving of my belongings into the house before my tenancy began after having to vacate a previous premesis early. My personal experience is the conduct and amateur tactics of the agents are dishonest and they have no real respect that someone is buying their home so its stressful enough, but to be given misleading and false information continuously is unacceptable. Their conduct cost me solicitors and surveyors fee for a property they put back on the market after 8 months of me making a fair and genuine offer. I asked several times to speak to a senior manager where i was refused and fobbed off with lame excuses.

Whilst Beverley and Shannon were extremely helpful during the viewing and sales process, the sales progression team were quite aggressive with both us and our solicitors to try and get the sale through before the month end, despite not being able to due to issues with the property that needed to be rectified first. On the day of exchange, no-one contacted us at all to let us know that the sale had gone through, we just turned up at what we hoped was our new house and the lovely (previous) owners let us in and showed us round and gave us a run down on how appliances etc worked. In fact, no-one contacted us for 2 months after we moved in until a review was requested (hoho). Ultimately, although the process started off brightly and went through much quicker than anticipated, it was soured through a lack of communication or care.

Worst agency ever! Lock out of the house due to their fault (they gave the plumber a key I don't have) and no help at all!! Asked to leave the house after 6 months and again no help or flexibility at all!! So do yourself a favour and go for another agency.

The laziest so called 'estate agents' I have ever had an experience of dealing with. They are slow in coming back to you when you have a query which we found when looking to rent and especially when tenancy ended and we had a dispute with our landlord. Never dealing with them again 2/5 is kind

Very bad service agent is not arrived at my meeting on the rental home ..
The house was to be the minor renovation and painting and it turned out that the house is a fungus, mold and so on.
Complete mistake and a waste of time customers do not recommend

Initially I have to say that we were not used to selling and buying as we had not done it for over 20 years. We thought that things were running really slowly and probably called Joseph Lee for updates on a 3 day basis. I am sure that most houses sell in @4 months so ours was probably not unusual, it just felt like it. Joseph and Alex at head office were very helpful and kept us informed of any movements as soon as they new, but it was stressful not knowing. The final contracts signing and completion date kept changing which made it very stressful and we finally had 3 days to arrange a removal company to move on the 18th Dec 2015, as the one we had primed, ready to go, let us down at the last moment. During this time Joseph and Alex were very helpful even though they could not solve our problem.. In general the service we received from Leaders was acceptable and I would use them again.

Better than most lenders in the area, but expensive. By the time all the deductions have been taken from the rent including their rent guarantee, plus tax, etc., you're not left with very much income every month. The other main problem is the contractors they use to fix problems way overcharging for even the simplest things, e.g. you need a lightbulb changed, so we sent our engineer round, that's £120 + vat! Also I have had issues with the six monthly inspection reporting that the property was fine, then when I've been round myself I found it was filthy, like the tenant hadn't cleaned it since they had moved in. They should keep on top of things like that, after all you are paying them enough each month.
On the plus side they are efficient, respond quickly to queries, and I haven't found any other agents in the area that are any better.

Generally everyone is very helpful especially when the previous tenant went to arbitration over deposit held back against professional cleaning. Lisa, Regan and the manager at the Croydon office were really helpful in explaining the procedures and assuring me that they will assist to present the landlord's case. Subsequently the case was settled before it went to arbitration. Thank you.
