Sam Hinton has been brilliant and we couldn't recommend him enough! We had great customer service from Chancellors, and Sam was a breath of fresh air to work with, very honest and reliable. Thank you Sam- top guy!
Whilst the sales side of this branch of Chancellors appears to have surprisingly positive reviews, I would warn anyone against letting a property through this agent.
I rented a flat in Henley for 5 years and it was a great place with a very amiable landlord, but Chancellors were completely incompetent in almost everything they did throughout my tenancy.
From repeatedly sending private correspondence (including sensitive information such as bank account details) to incorrect email addresses, to inexplicable £100+ annual administration fees, to providing incorrect contact/booking details to the end of tenancy cleaning company, to charging us double for the checkout fee and taking a month to realise, to myself, my flatmate and landlord having to have an exchange of nearly 40 emails to establish the allocation and release of the original deposit, they were hopeless.
Whilst this was all incredibly frustrating, there was also no admission of any errors from Chancellors' side and barely an apology forthcoming - they simply put everything down to 'system errors' or misunderstandings, completely absolving themselves of any responsibility. When any suggestion of a refund for their poor customer service was raised on our part, they dismissed it entirely.
The patience and negotiation skills shown by Katie, Victoria and Charlie were very professional and perceptive and we would certainly recommend them to anyone contemplating a house sale.
Proceed with caution or even better - avoid at all costs. I took on a property through Savills Henley on Thames, to experience every imaginable problem, all within just 6 month of tenancy. Environmental Health now called in which has injected a little life into Savills, Henley on Thames. Savills Henley of Thames pass all responsibility to landlord and will not accept any responsibility, although Savills Henley on Thames took a healthy introduction fee from me, receive a monthly rental and charge the landlord a management fee. Landlords & tenants, look elsewhere. If there was a 'star' for 'health warning' I would have selected.
Real quality Service from Estate agents, have used them many times. I had the experience of both Romans Caversham and High street branch and both of the branches have never let me down, will strongly recommend
We booked a viewing for a property 5 days in advance. Were told we would receive a confirmation. Never did. Placed a follow up call to confirm reservation. And yet we still never received a confirmation. On the day of the viewing, we called repeatedly and kept getting put through to the main office as the phone in the Caversham office was not getting picked up. The main office emailed the letting agents 4 times, but we never got a response. No one had a phone number for the agents?
We traveled an hour to Reading, stopped by the office to be told that all of the agents were showing properties. We offered to wait around in the city, but we never got a call back. Here we were, cash in hand, ready to sign a lease on a flat, but no one would return our call. We will now almost definitely not be using Romans for our rentals or our future house purchase. If they could not show us the flat, they should have told us that when we initially made the call. Or at least told us before we had to travel that far.
Hopefully someone from that company will explain why this happened.
We have recently sold and bought through Walmsley Estate agents. A professional friendly group of people, lots of good advice we felt positive through the whole process. Everything the team said to us all came true. There was no pressure in the whole process.

I used Martin & Co to find a tenant and from start to finish they provided an excellent service. I am still continuing to use them for the renewals and again, everything is just being taken care off which helps me no end! Can't recommend Sean and his team enough! They are also very competitive price wise so its a double win and a complete no brainer - USE THEM!
Really disappointing.... started off fantastic for the first few months of being with them (we had previously been with another agency who had been particularly difficult)..nothing was too much trouble and staff couldn't do more to help or assist us and I even said to them what a breath of fresh air they were. As the tenancy went on problems arose in the house (the main one being the conservatory roof panel flew off in the wind!!)... we had to bodge it ourselves for a couple of days until they could get the landlords approval to allow someone over to fix it. Every time we phoned to find out where we were at they would always shift the blame onto the landlord "Oh he's not replied", "Oh we can't get hold of him" etc etc... Which sounded poor really considering when I called him myself he got back to me within hours and was extremely polite and co-operative with me. It always sounded like a typical "Oh it's not our fault it's someone elses"... Then they conducted an inspection without letting us know...we only found out about this about a week later when they sent us the report of their inspection. When I asked when and why they had been in the house without permission (24 hours notice) they said they had sent out emails to all tenants but the email system had failed (if the email system failed why not call everyone on the morning of the day you are attending). We still kept our cool with them but then on check out when they claimed we had to pay for "Cleaning/Oven Cleaning" when I had provided them with all the correct invoices from the companies who had carried out these tasks before we departed... They tried to argue that it wasn't professionally clean enough so they had to send their people back in to give it a further go!!.... We didn't even get told beforehand that they were sending people in we just got sent the bill afterwards! We also had to pay some stupid jet washing charge for some ivy on the side of the property that was extortionate. When I asked about this they said it had nothing to do with them and again moved the blame onto the landlord. They all seemed to forget that I chased the council for months to get a tree cut back that was landing on the Landlords roof ... if I hadn't chased that for them it could have been catastrophic and caused the Landlord a LOT of money. I never did see any of these invoices for the supposed works that had been carried out that we asked to see. I would have complained more but we are lucky to be out of the rentals market now and have a house to renovate so it's just too time consuming and a big headache. Overall a big fat waste of money and very frustrating especially when you leave the property in a nicer condition than the inventory report was when we first arrived. The only good point for me personally was the communication after the inspections via letter, they always kept us updated about those but other than that very disappointing. This review is NOT including Mica who works there as she was fantastic from start to finish, bubbly, kind, efficient and the nicest lady I've ever dealt with at an estate agents.
