[EDITED]: from one star to two, after they re-checked our case, admitted there was an error in the background check and refunded the fees. Thanks for that, and we really appreciated being finally heard. The score stays a two though as what happened and how it happened stays the same: we didn't get a house we were qualified for, and felt under accusation the whole time. I don't wish this experience to anyone under the stress of looking for a new house.

I’ve been renting several places since I’ve been in the UK (10 years), and Chancellors, particularly this agency, has been by far the worst experience I have ever had.
After having our offer accepted and during the background checks, we had some delays on my partner’s side due to unforeseen circumstances (a loss and political turmoil in her home country). Despite having 3 months (!) before the beginning of the tenancy, we were pushed beyond reason to hurry her incomplete checks, since my side would have granted sufficient guarantee.
Then, they changed their mind and refused to acknowledge the income that their own background check agency guaranteed on my side. They canceled the contract and made us pay fees, accusing us of providing misleading information.
Reading other reviews, I now understand we dodged a bullet, and we are happy to pay these fees and not be bound to such a disgrace of a team.... Read more
