24th Jul 2025 (1 year ago)Its a difficult market for selling. Properties are listed in abundance with valuations perhaps starting too high. Buyers are few and far between which meant that we had only 4 viewings over the same number of months. Every viewing is therefore critical and needs your agent to be fully appraised of features and any questions answered. Initial valuations versus actual market sale price need to be considered carefully.
25th Aug 2026 (25 days ago)My friend and I were discussing the sale of his property and I did a quick valuation check which emailed my details to connells. The following day I got a call asking if I was interested in selling. No problem, I explained the situation to a very nice guy and asked that I be taken off their system as the house was not mine, if my friend wanted help then he'd get in touch. 1 week later I have had 8 calls, from different connells members asking the same darn thing. Don't listen, won't take a hint.

The transaction was not without its difficulties, particularly due to delays and challenges involving the seller’s solicitors, but John Lake remained professional, proactive and supportive from start to finish. A particular mention must go to Paul, whose communication was excellent. His information was consistently accurate, clear and straight to the point, which gave us confidence at some fairly frustrating stages of the process. His efforts undoubtedly helped keep the chain together and ultimately ensured that the purchase got over the line. We are very grateful for the support we received and would have no hesitation in recommending John Lake to anyone buying or selling property in the Torquay area. Excellent service from a team who genuinely worked hard to get the job done.

22nd Aug 2026 (28 days ago)Best estate agents we've ever dealt with!<br><br>We cannot recommend Coast & Country highly enough, and in particular Callum who was absolutely brilliant throughout.<br><br>We had the misfortune of two sales falling through (through no fault of coast & country), but the team worked effortlessly to get us a new buyer, usually within a week or two! After our agreed sale, Callum kept in contact weekly to update us on how the chain was progressing which gave us so much reassurance.<br><br>From start to finish the whole team were professional, responsive and genuinely cared. The fact that Zoe and Charlotte took the time to familarise themselves with our property before commencing viewings was a professional and personal touch we had not had before. We also viewed a few properties to purchase with them as well and they were also brilliant.<br>Darren was also excellent from the initial appraisal through to handing our keys over on completion.<br><br>After a bad experience with a different agency, Coast & Country restored our faith and trust in estate agents. If you want agents who actually work for you and care, use Coast & Country.<br><br>We would 100% use them again and have already recommended them to friends.

8th Jun 2026 (15 weeks ago)Very disappointing experience with Rendells Lettings in newton abbot.<br><br>We expressed serious interest in a rental property in early May, provided documents immediately, travelled down from Oxfordshire to see if we could view the house, followed up multiple times by email and phone, and even visited the office in person (told them it was an 8 hour drive for us). After which we got not one call or email from the person who runs the lettings dept. Throughout the process we were repeatedly told that the landlord would “come back with further instructions,” but after more than a month we still received no proper update or clear answer.<br><br>And also they told us that they get so many applications they just don’t care and will not respond to anything. They refuse to do online viewings (which all the other agencies are willing to do), don't respond to applications (after you have filled out given them your life on paper basically). Complete limbo.<br><br>Meanwhile, the property remained advertised online the entire time!<br><br>What made the experience frustrating was not necessarily losing out on the property, but the complete lack of communication and basic courtesy. Calls and emails went unanswered, timelines were unclear, and we were left unable to plan our own housing situation despite explaining that notice had to be given on our current tenancy.<br><br>Other agencies we dealt with in Devon were far more professional, responsive, and respectful.<br><br>Unfortunately, based on this experience, I cannot recommend Rendells Lettings, other agencies in Devon are far far better and I can’t recommend them enough, Rendells lettings in newton abbot was in 25 years of renting through agencies the very worst experience i have ever had, take my advice and don’t do it

They dropped prices over a few weekends and gave the impression there was a problem but, the fact we sold it privately within days of making it available elsewhere only goes to show their lack of scruples.
