I have been looking for a flat for months and J'aime has been the most extraordinary agent I have had the luck to work with. She has taken the time to get to know me and what I really wanted, she always had honest opinions about a place she'd show me. She would show initiative in making suggestions, always demonstrated care, patience and flexibility. I am blown away by her commitment to help me in finding the right place. I am absolutely impressed by her level of service which I wish more service providers in London would be able to model. Thank you!
The "service" received from Chestertons Hyde Park office is literally so bad it cannot conceivably be called a service.
An agreement was signed by both parties on a prospective sale agreeing to commission of 1.25%. The property was sold and Chestertons sent an invoice charging commission at 1.5%. When I refused to pay the difference, the South African sales manager Dylan James turned up at my house and literally tried to kick my front door in. My teenage daughter was inside and terrified. Mr James proceed to loiter at my front door for the best part of an hour - smoking cigarettes, shouting and threatening violence. Upon eventually returning to his office he called me and threated to employ heavy-handed debt collectors if I didn't cough up. I refused to pay a penny more than the rate agreed. Mr James eventually and ungracefully accepted.
This firm is arrogant, dishonest, and inefficient.
Moving office is never easy! but we had outgrown our space RIB helped us surrender our existing lease with out liability and found our new bigger brighter office. It was good to have them on our side. happy to recommend they seem to have the North of Oxford Street area sewn up!
Property Agent was unprofessional, treats women like they are stupid and second-class citizens, incompetent, patronizing, unhelpful, ignorant and the worst I have come across in London. Made a difficult situation in the building that needed impartiality and helpful advice and all he did was make it far worse. Seemed to enjoy the power he had. If you are a professional woman steer clear - you would be shocked by this level of sexism. And management, they say, it is his word against mine!
Carlos was helpful and straightforward to deal with, even though he was acting for the seller and I was the buyer!
Always available and responsive. His colleagues were also good.
Very professional service from Mei and whole team at Covent Garden Chestertons. Both Landlords and Tenants should be very happy with this team. In particular, minimized the time consumed in processing documentation. Could not recommend more.
Working with Edvin specifically was wonderful! My husband and I relocated to London from the US and he was extremely helpful throughout the entire process. He showed us a wide selection of properties and was in constant communication. We would definitely recommend working with him!
Similar to other reviews, I would also not recommend renting through foxtons. The rental process was fine, but when it came to the actual rental they simply don't care once they have made their commission. I complained about how my landlord didn't repair my washer / dryer for 2+ months and they said it was in-between me and the landlord. I understand that the property is managed by the landlord and I am not asking Foxtons to fix it. However, I simply asked if there was a way to formally report this landlord so that this doesn't happen to another tenant . They said they did not care. I simply wanted to prevent future tenants from having the same issues by renting from this landlord. It made me realize that they do not care about the tenants, they care about the commission and once you rent the flat, tough luck for you. Do not rent through Foxtons and pay premiums for subpar landlords.
I was a tennant for 4 years with Leo Newman and always found them to be excellent and efficient landlords all of the staff I dealt with throughout my tenancy were very professional and helpful
I would like to particularly thank Joshua K from the management team who was always extremely helpful, efficient and professional
It started out so good, but quickly sped downhill...
TL;DR: They're nice on the way in, but shifty on the way out.
THE GOOD: If you're only using them as a lettings agent, Leo Newman are all right (if expensive). They worked with us on the deposit (being new to the UK, it's hard to move money around). They provided a decent flat at an affordable rent (once I counter offered, that is).
THE BAD: Leo Newman were also our property management company, so we had consistent run-arounds to get simple repairs performed. They did (eventually) fix things, such as the leak in the kitchen ceiling, but only after an exhaustive back and forth where they ask you to photograph what's wrong.
THE UGLY: This is where it gets nasty. When our tenancy agreement came due after a year, they wanted to jack up the rent by 20%. Since the flat wasn't worth what they were asking, we countered with a more reasonable 2%. We were exemplary tenants; never late with rent, quiet, clean, and generally good neighbours. It took them weeks to accept our offer, but in the meantime we found a better flat in a nicer neighbourhood for just a bit more money.
On moving in, we paid an additional deposit due to our small cat, bringing the total to £1500. Moving out, we followed all of their conditions to the letter, even to getting a professional deep cleaning. The only hitch was accessing our electrical account, which was paid on standing debit. I couldn't get into the account to show the £0 balance, but did give them the debit as proof of payment. That wasn't good enough, so they've withheld my £1500 deposit FOR WEEKS (this is in direct violation of the DPS, which states that funds can't be arbitrarily withheld and only the amount in dispute can be claimed, NOT the whole amount, and that the landlord has to show cause).
A cosy rustic-style pub with a wonderful selection of craft beers and ales. Theres a very reasonable selection of food and roasts are offered on Sundays, there's a second bar area in the back sometimes used for events and a quaint beer garden in the back. The coffee sold here is of a pretty good quality and the staff all seem very friendly, never had to wait too long to be served either. From what I've seen dogs are welcome, as I've seen a number of people with theirs. All round a great local.
The man serving is incredibly rude and unhelpful. Totally uncompromising and unwilling to cater for medical dietary requirements. He's ruining an otherwise good pub.
