Foxtons - Notting Hill

My partner and I were under an incredible time pressure. Which wouldn't be hard except that we are both highly particular about our living arrangement. Karan at foxtons came in with a lot of confidence which I was initially wary of. However every promise he gave was fully backed without a hiccup along the way. In a field thick with lies and empty promises it was a breath of fresh air to work with Karan who was quick to respond to any query.

Called agent for 20 minutes on the Saturday, explaining clearly that I want a particular property advertised on their site. Property was already taken of the market before my viewing on Monday, I was not made aware of that fact. Agent then continued showing me flats for 1500-1600 (technically over wildly over budget) boldly stating that I would not be able to get a better studio for that money. Found and booked a viewing for a one bedroom penthouse in Canary wharf the Same evening with another lettings agent... Wasted 2 hours of my precious time, would not recommend

Alina and the team were more than helpful when I wanted to rent my apartment in paddington, good clear communications, effficient and respectful of my current tenants when arranging viewings etc. I would happily use them again.

The "service" received from Chestertons Hyde Park office is literally so bad it cannot conceivably be called a service. An agreement was signed by both parties on a prospective sale agreeing to commission of 1.25%. The property was sold and Chestertons sent an invoice charging commission at 1.5%. When I refused to pay the difference, the South African sales manager Dylan James turned up at my house and literally tried to kick my front door in. My teenage daughter was inside and terrified. Mr James proceed to loiter at my front door for the best part of an hour - smoking cigarettes, shouting and threatening violence. Upon eventually returning to his office he called me and threated to employ heavy-handed debt collectors if I didn't cough up. I refused to pay a penny more than the rate agreed. Mr James eventually and ungracefully accepted. This firm is arrogant, dishonest, and inefficient.

I have known and dealt with Stephen Fairfax for quite a few years now and am happy to say that whenever I requested his opinion, I got it straight, without dressing… for want of a better word… Due to this, I was happy to introduce friends to Knight Frank Hyde Park who have since entrusted the sale of their flats to Stephen's Hyde Park office. I have also been introduced to the letting office and got another acquaintance to use your letting department who are currently letting their flat in Maitland Court. We retained Savills and asked Alicia Lindsay to sell our Regents Park property. She was ably assisted by Zach Madison. They both have a first class understanding of this area of London and a very good grasp of the dynamics of the market. 2016 and Brexit in particular generated significant challenges but their creative approach to marketing, and partnering when needed, and their unwavering commitment to getting us a sale, led to a very satisfactory result. I have worked with Alicia on the buy side as well and would unhesitatingly use she and Zach backed by their very efficient office staff in the future.

Where do I start?! The lettings department appeared to be all smiles on the surface, but the swearing and shouting coming from a “Zack?” In the back put me right off amd that’s just the beginning. I have a huge portfolio I have inherited and is finally in my names, covering Hampstead to Marylebone,lettings and sales,. I walked in to an extremely stony atmosphere around a year ago, and the head of lettings, Vera wang, had a blonde female colleague on the verge of tears sat next to her whilst talking to her in a stony voice (in front of clients), before Ms Wang came over all sweetness and light, and the girl disappeared as soon as she could to run downstairs, As a qualified and practicing psychiatrist you never switch off, and I found this unnerving and did. I had heard great things from St. John’s Wood high street about Vera Wang and wanted totrust this woman, solely given that i have a business to be run. However what looked like a higher member of staff treating a younger member is such a blatant way and visible to customers,, I couldn’t take my bussines to savills, Luke hull came over to run through some of the “core market” properties and applicants, as I have an extensive portfolio and was much friendlier, but I couldn’t get past the undercurrent in the office and took my business portfolio elsewhere. Sorry savills, your blonde girl got all my documents to me to sign but I took them away to reflect on the situation, and it was a no. I regretfully say the office atmosphere let me down in a huge way. I was looking forward to working with Savills but it didn’t bode well with me on first impressions, particularly the swearing from “Zack” and Vera’s outward attitude in the main office towards her colleague.
