We worked with Alex Leigh in the Islington office and found him to be helpful and accommodating. Whilst he technically represented the sellers (and we were the buyers) he went above and beyond to move the whole process forward expeditiously.
I am writing this from a buyers perspective. We found our interactions with Foxtons Islington to be insincere and at times untruthful. The untruths were not recognised immediately but on second reflection the facts did not add up. The method of communication was always over the phone even when email was pointed out as a preference for us. This further added to distasteful sales tactics used because it enabled them to leave no record of what they were doing. When the regulations increase in this area to become more stringent a lot of the sales techniques used by Foxtons will be defunct and they will be unable to carry on using them. Out of all the estate agents we had interactions with during this property purchase, Foxtons were the most 'shark' like.
The lovely people at Hamptons Islington have provided me with two sets of hassle-free tenants, both giving an excellent rental return.
Their enthusiasm & knowledge of the local & international market is invaluable in securing the right people into your property, they have contact with relocation agents & overseas clients that guarantee above expectation results.
When the time came to sell my property, Hamptons sales did an excellent job in realising a superb price for my flat.
I would not hesitate to recommend Hamptons Islington as agents for your property.
We first tried to let our house in De Beauvoir Town with another agent and failed miserably. Hamptons were our second choice but the contrast couldn't have been greater.
Everything they have done has been outstandingly professional. For instance, they always respond within hours to any concerns we might have.
Most important of all, within weeks they found us the ideal tenant.
I can wholeheartedly recommend them to other landlords looking for an agent.
I lost my partner, ended up sick, had to give up work. Keatons were so supportive and helped me achieve a fantastic sale to move on. You are a wonderful team and I will always be grateful.
Initially, I had a decent level of service - valuation and photography went well.
Inevitably, as soon as we agreed to go on with Keatons we were left in hands of junior sales team who simply didn't add anything in terms of sales skills. Overheard dreadful blind alley sales speak and otherwise subdued delivery.
Negligible communication throughout. Evidently a substandard database of viewers compared with Foxtons and others.
Really think the House Simple/ Purple Bricks platform model is going to cut in half the number of houses sold by agents if this experience is anything to go on.
Winkworths in Harringey were excellent in selling our house quickly. They were polite, attentive and knowledgable. I would recommend them & use them again.
Winkworth used to be our letting agent in a house where I lived for 4 years and they have been by far the worse letting agents I ever had to deal with.
Their staff is slow and inexpert when it comes to resolve urgent issues in the house, limiting themselves to be a middle man between ourselves and our landlady who was equally lazy to give approval for basic repairs like a broken boiler in mid January or a structural damage in one of the pillars...
On the other hand, they will always be on time to ask you for the rent payments or additional charges if they are needed.
A couple of times they tried scamming us by illegally requesting us to pay for the council letting licenses which should have been entirely paid by the landlords and never by the tenants.
Aside from this they increased the rent a 28% from one year to another the last time we renewed the contract, even though when the contract specified that only an 8% increase should be allowed... That was the year we decided to never again renew with them.
Wouldn't recommend them even to my worst enemies!
Kerry Golding dealt with my mortgage- she was extremely knowledgable & gave me fantastic and accurate advice throughout. I will definitely be using her again, thank you!
Absolutely Appalling. I would strongly advise anyone thinking of using this agency to reconsider.
The agent who was in charge of our letting was James. When showing us round he promised many things such as the re-grouting of a bathroom and a professional clean before we moved in. After you have paid he completely denies he ever said these things and says you agreed to the flat ‘As seen’. A phrase which he so rigidly stuck to we expect to move in with him in the lounge as this was technically ‘As seen’.
When we were handed the sets of keys, some of which did not even work, we went to take a look at the flat. The professional clean had undoubtedly never happened. There was half eaten food in the fridge, rubbish under the beds and even ash in the ashtrays. Also despite insisting the flat was ‘As seen’ some of the nicer items of furniture had been removed.
When we tried to ring James explaining this, coincidentally for the next few days whenever we rang we would be told ‘he is out on a viewing’, ‘he is out the back’, ‘he has just had to dash out of the office’ and our favourite - ‘he is on the toilet’. None of us have been able to get through to him despite calling on so many various occasions.
Seeing as James had apparently disappeared of the face of the earth the only suggestion they had was to call the landlady directly. Which makes you wonder what on earth the extortionate agency fees you pay are for, when I asked this I was informed that they do not manage the properties so I genuinely am at a loss as to what that charge is for. The service was terrible, the communication with our agent close to non-existent. I cannot stress how much we would advise against using these agents for lettings.
Chesterton Humberts in Islington are great. Finding a flat was quick and painless. I am still in the flat Chesterton Humberts estate agents found for me, however, I am looking into another property because I considering moving to a bigger flat. If I do, I will most certainly use Chesterton Humberts!
