I had an unpleasant experience renting from Rook Matthews Sayer.

They sneaked into my contract that my utilities would automatically be switched to Spark Energy (who have previously ceased trading / gone bust) who aren't the cheapest of energy suppliers - presumably RMS get a payment from Spark to do this. I missed this clause in the contract and had further difficulties trying to swtich back.

We were on the market for 11 years with Rook Mathews and NOT one Viewing. They did absolutely nothing they said they would do on initiation back in 2008. Lucky we were not desperate to move. Months and years would go by without contact from them. I paid them upfront for advertising which I would advise against. Avoid this company for sure. They valued the property, initially, then gradually convinced me to lower the price to quicken the sale, that inevitably did not happen. I changed to another agent, and had 5 views in 3 months.

Having put our home on the market with this team last October and then covid coming along, we almost took the house off the market just as lockdown was initially being lifted. Thank goodness we didn't, speaking with the team we were reassured they were still working behind the scenes and within a short space of time they had viewing after viewing for us!! Weve sold our home and the team have been fantastic, keeping us updated every step of the way, always happy to help and nothing has ever seemed like a problem. We have dealt with pretty much all of the staff here (Claire, the manager, included who mucks in just like any of the others if she answers the phone).
