We encountered them when buying a house a few years ago and were impressed at their fairness in handling the buyer/seller balance. Hence tje decision to use them when selling. This last transaction fell at a difficult time and had some complications but they showed patience, persistence, courtesy and even humour. In brief, we trust them.

14th Mar 2026 (6 weeks ago)I send an enquiry about a property and no reply and then they didn't want to help me so I said today I said DSS no reply or Nothing this is pure blank discrimination book of someone is autistic I think for enquiries and not even got back to me because I'm autistic and didn't want to help me find a house in York is fine by me this will go to a civil clean

22nd Apr 2026 (6 days ago)I’ve never dealt with a worse estate agent. Moving from Cornwall to York, I trusted them not to take advantage of me, given that I couldn’t see the property in person before renting it. What I was greeted by was scarcely believable, as you can see from the photos. They routinely ignored me when I asked to have things fixed, and lied to me when I asked them to contact the landlord, stating they had contacted them when they hadn’t. Use Ashtons instead. They were exemplary when I used them instead. My old landlord has even left Bridgfords to take his business to Ashtons as well. Pathetic, shameless company. Avoid.

24th Apr 2026 (4 days ago)I was very happy with the service provided by John and the team at the Reeds Rains Haxby office. They were always very helpful and friendly, and always put my mind at rest when I was anxious about the sale of my mother's flat. Once I placed the flat with them for sale, it didn't take very long for them to find a buyer. They kept in touch with me throughout with updates. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Reeds Rains.

Additionally, there was not one cocksure young individual in a skinny fit, shiny suit. Excellent service and a genuine pleasure to deal with. Thank you to Nick and all the team for their help and patience.

22nd Apr 2026 (6 days ago)I had a very disappointing experience with this agency when attempting to arrange a property viewing. Despite expressing genuine interest, I was refused the opportunity to view the property and found the interaction to be dismissive and unprofessional. The manner in which I was spoken to felt belittling and lacked the basic level of respect you would expect from a professional service provider. What concerns me most is that the treatment felt inconsistent and left me questioning whether I was being treated differently based on my background. Regardless of the reason, no prospective tenant or buyer should feel uncomfortable or unwelcome when making a simple enquiry. I would strongly encourage the agency to reflect on their customer service approach and ensure all individuals are treated fairly, respectfully, and in line with their obligations under the Equality Act 2010. Based on this experience, I would not recommend their services.

8th Mar 2022 (4 years ago)Friendly knowledgeable and honest! Fast & efficient service from day one, Great pictures and brochures. Returns calls very quickly if not available when you phone. Nothing is too much trouble, We have sold many houses and Mark and his son Jacob are by far the best.

18th Mar 2024 (2 years ago)DO NOT SELL YOUR BUSINESS THROUGH THIS COMPANY! READ THE SMALL PRINT This company are extremely aggressive and unprofessional. We advertised a business with them, paid an huge fee to advertise. Later after terminating, we agreed investment (not even a sale) from an investor we met directly, who was never introduced by Hilton Smythe. After accepting investment after terminating with Hilton Smythe they demanded their commission!! Totally unreasonable given it was after termination and the person who invested in our business was never known to or introduced by Hilton Smythe! They are now behaving aggressively and threatening legal action. We in turn have reported them to the ombudsman and trading standards. They are snake oil salesmen. DO NOT DEAL!

They dealt with viewings for us really quickly and talked us through the whole selling process as it’sa long time since we last sold a property. When an offer was made the communication was excellent between us, the team and the buyer. Even dealing with online solicitors has been so easy.

The whole process was handled professionally and efficiently, with great communication throughout. A special thank you to Bekky, who was always helpful, responsive and genuinely supportive — nothing ever felt like too much trouble. Selling a property can be stressful, but they made it feel straightforward and well managed. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.
