Chancellors

12a West Way, Botley, Oxford

Our experience as prospective buyers with the Botley branch (not other branches) is that they took a significant amount of time to (or wouldn’t) respond to emails, and when called, would say that they would get someone to call back, but this never happened.

Elizabeth was very friendly and helpful in discussing potential changes we could make to the house we were viewing. Even though we were under time constraints she didn't make us feel pressurised, which we appreciated!

Chancellors - Banbury Sales

Callum and Richard have been very helpful and professional in helping us finding a new rental home and putting our offer through for the property. They kept us constantly updated throughout the whole process. My partner and I have had a series of bad experiences with other agencies so the manner and professionalism that we have witnessed at Chancellors has been very refreshing. We will definitely use them again for renting. Many Thanks!

Emese Mezey

Avoid them at all costs! Their business model for advertising properties for sale is, go see the seller and convince them they can sell the house for a higher price than other estate agents as they have sold a lot in the area, win the business and then just a week and half later, get a team manager from the head office in Bracknell to lower the price as there are not enough viewings and it keeps going on and on. Don't be fooled by their proactiveness and speed to get you on the market, that's literally all they care about (The 1 star is for that). You will only get viewers who are never interested to spend anything close to what you have advertised it for, ending in receiving constant feedback from viewers saying 'They feel they could secure a property larger than your's at a better price'. To top it all off, they managed to loose hold of our only buyer, who gave an offer, which we eventually accepted (on the same day) and we were being mis-guided by saying they couldn't get hold of the buyer, whereas we found out that Chancellors never followed up with our buyer, so he ended up buying few other properties, being an investor. 14 weeks into a 16 week contract with them, I felt this was just a waste of time and lodged a complaint with their Directors and to their head office and requested to stop all services for us, which they did eventually after another few round of email pestering. It has been more than 2 weeks now and I haven't heard anything back anything regarding the complaint, except for a complaint acknowledgement email and the head office saying they are 'investigating' call records. Unless you have lots of time to spare and don't mind dressing up your house for viewers who will never make you an offer near to your asking price, as they are never intending to buy a house around that price, which I believe none of you would been keen on, stay away from them. Absolute cons! PS: To put a contrast into the whole aspect, we ended up going with Bairstow Eves and they sold our house for 99% of the asking price and in just the third viewing. This is how quick things could have been done!

Overall quite a decent experience. We worked with Holly and she was really helpful in getting onto enquiries and kept communications going well. her colleague Daniel also helped us out quite a bit. I would say the post selling team in bracknell needs some work to improve their service and communications, having said that Holly and Daniel at the Abingdon branch were there to pick up and frustrations and chased up when we needed them too so they certainly went above and beyond and would certainly recommend working with them.

Calum Bennett

Bumpy start but it's how you finish! Always nice to chat with Daniel and Jess in the office, really nice people and they care. Cheers all.

Chancellors - Amersham

Lexham House,14a Hill Avenue,Amersham

I could do with no reviews if there was an option. I was shown property and since then there was no follow up at all. I ended up chasing negotiator almost daily basis for a response or update on the offer, but every time I used to get someone saying negotiator is busy and will get back when he could. It totally felt like banging my head against the brick wall. I would not recommend to use Amersham branch at all.

Gaurav Mehta

I had an wonderful experience at Chancellors in Amersham due to Shaun Haywood. Shaun showed us around a property in Little Chalfont last week, he was polite and knowledgeable, knowing all the answers to our questions. We have placed an offer on the house and look forward to working with him throughout the rest of the purchase. Jessica

Chancellors - Aylesbury

Highly unprofessional people. Booked a viewing for a property and reached there on time but were unable to find the property. Tried calling the branch, no answer initially but after couple of tries managed to speak to someone. They advised Amy should be showing the property to us and she will get in touch with her and come back to us. Waited another 20mins (total 40mins) but no one called back. Wasted 30mins of Journey and 40mins of waiting time. Would never recommend them and DO NOT DESERVE ANY STAR AT ALL.

We contacted the Aylesbury Branch last Saturday. Requesting details on a property we are potentially looking to rent. Despite a further email to another account. No one has contacted us. I called the office this morning at 11.30 spoke to someone who advised that a message would be passed on to call back. Again no one has called back, I have just tried to call again 3.15pm but no one is answering and found that there is no facilities to leave a message. I am extremely disappointed to say the least and find your company highly unprofessional. I would like a response.

Chancellors - Bicester Sales

46 Market Square, Bicester, Oxfordshire

We are very grateful to Dan, Alistair and all the Bicester Chancellors team for their professional lead throughout our house sale process. Thank you for always been proactive and accommodating!

Oksana Kirichek

Where to start... My partner & I were planning on relocating to the area and enquired about a property advertised online. To start, Chancellors Bicester were quite helpful and showed us 3 other potential properties. We were booked in to view all of them (one viewing cancelled on the day) and were pleased with one of the properties, so made an offer. One of the properties we viewed had a very unusual situation with the landlord where they had an offer through Chancellors, as well as an offer through a friend. The landlord hadn't accepted either offer, and seemed to be messing everyone (including Chancellors) around. Regardless, this doesn't look great on Chancellors dealing with such sketchy and unreliable clients. My partner & I made sure all relevant documentation and information required to proceed with our offer was completed quickly and sent to Chancellors for them to make an offer to the landlord. On the phone we were told our offer had been accepted, and with the property being vacant we were asked if could we move in 4 weeks earlier, which we couldn't. However, we were able to be accommodating and managed to organise for us to move in 2 weeks earlier than originally planned. We chased multiple times for written confirmation of the offer being accepted and proceeding to the next step (which was never received), this is where things started going down south very quickly with Chancellors Bicester. All of a sudden, work needed to get one to the property (which wasn't a condition of our offer or the agreement moving forward). We then were told we were unlikely to move in at the agreed date and it would be a couple/few weeks later than expected - which would have left my partner & I temporarily homeless due to us accommodating the landlord's timeline and requests. We consistently requested for the pre-rental agreement checks process to start, of which we were fobbed off by Chancellors Bicester, saying the landlord doesn't want to start the process or look at providing a written contract without the work being completed on the property. This wouldn't have been completed until our original move-in date. We later found out our application was never properly processed (when speaking to a different Chancellors branch, who said they didn't see our application or advanced situation on their system (which is connected up to all other branches). They confirmed that they had seen other information in their system, such as viewings and email correspondence. Every time we called our contact at Chancellors Bicester, they were "always on the other line" and would take days to return my call. They also slipped up one occasion saying that they saw me calling in but couldn't answer as they were "just so busy". When I called on a different or a withheld number, conveniently our contact always picked up and was caught off guard. My partner called on different occasions and the situation was always presented in an exaggerated positive light, which wasn't the case, nor was it represented in that way to me during the advanced discussions when things were getting worse. We would have never know the above information if we hadn't chased up or spoken to other branches of our own accord. This branch was horrendous and nothing like the service we experienced with the other Chancellors branches. We had to withdraw interest in the property in the end, as we were running out of time to find, view and proceed with other properties. They couldn't get my first name right - one day I was Alan, Andrew or James, nor could they spell my surname correctly. I would avoid Chancellors Bicester at all costs, unless you're happy with poor service, lack of communications or being told outright lies on a regular basis.

After a disappointing experience with another letting agent, I approached Chancellors for a property they advertised online. Matthew Collins responded to my inquiries promptly and since has been professional, responsive and helpful. He is reassuring and supportive from the first phone call to filling up application from process and I am sure he will continue to do so during my tenancy with Chancellors. He took the time to do the viewing with me, and answered all my questions patiently and in a friendly and respectful manner. Communication with Matthew has been clear and maintained so I am never on a blind spot, every step of the way. I feel that I can rely on him with everything to do with my tenancy. I think this is the first time that I genuinely feel like I am in good hands when it comes to letting agents. Thanks a lot, Matthew! I am so glad you’re the one who’s helping me! All the best for your career.

Terry at Chancellors has been a breath of fresh air when it comes to estate agents. We really had given up hope of finding someone we felt was honest and reliable, but he managed to make us feel confident and happy with our buying/selling experience. We would definitely look to use Chancellors and Terry in the future, if we decide to move on again. Thank you for everything.

I rented recently with Chancellors. It seems there are some fake reviews here. But the lettings reviews are 100% correct. They are nice when it suits them eg whilst selling a place. Renting from them was an absolute nightmare. The lettings team are lying constantly, played the same game by whitholding my deposit even though the landlord had said it was fine and to allow me to have the deposit back. On top of that, the check in and out inventry, don't use them. They are not legit and have a deal with them. They will try their best to keep back the deposit. And will want their own cleaner to do the job, if you refuse they will be looking for any fault or create a fault. I would strongly suggest if you rent, go else where! These people are liars, especially the ladies in the lettings department. I will never use them again and will ensure all my friends and family go else where going forward.

Lara, the Sales Manager at Chancellors doesn't know a thing about customer service. Very unprofessional and the way the she speaks to people is terrible. Doesn't know the correct information about the law of lettings at all. Very rude.

I am using my daughter's account for this review. I would like to say that in my property search since March I found Alice Rench the most helpful, professional and pleasant person to deal with out of all the agents I encountered on the way. Although, I am buying from another agent she stood out for the aforementioned reasons. Thanks Alice, all the best! Anita Taralrud.

We chose chancellors to sell our home as we were impressed with the honesty in the valuation they gave us. We then had Eleanor Jones as our main contact during the selling process and cannot praise her enough for her professional and honest attitude during the whole process. We were communicated to on every aspect and if Eleanor was unavailable she would ensure Jame's or George kept us up to date. We found all the staff we had contact with in chancellors East Oxford, were nothing but professional and courteous both with ourselves and the prospective buyers of our property. We would definitely recommend and use again if we ever needed to in the future.

Maria Rodger

I would just like to take a moment to express my thanks to Chancellors. I have been very happy and satisfied with the service provided from Chancellors. I booked in my valuation with Ella who was very polite, knowledgeable and very understanding of my difficult situation when it came to valuing my property but also selling it the property. I have then had constant updates and reassurance from the rest of the team. I will be doing further business with the company in the future.

We recently used Chancellors in Didcot to move to a rented property and were very impressed with the personal service we received. Tom and Jack were great, we mainly liaised with Tom and he was proactive and updated us at every stage at such a challenging time with the COVID virus. In my short experience with letting agents in Didcot I think Chancellors and more specific Tom are a credit to the service, we experienced very poor service from other agents in the area and it was a welcome surprise to us that Tom and Chancellors were so proactive and caring. I would not hesitate to use the branch again and would definitely recommend them to friends and family.
