Firstly, we wish to thank Tracy McAlpine and Robyn Fleming and all other members of the team that helped us with the purchase of our house. We heard about this team via our house developer and builders, from the moment we made initial contact, the team were fantastic at getting straight back to us with any questions and queries we had. The quote we received was realistic and very fair for what we required. Other firms charged much more than Mov8. They made the process really easy for us from start to finish. The information they gave us about the whole process of buying a house made it again really easy. We were not overwhelmed at all during the process. I had a very poor customer experiment with Mov8 and couldn’t recommend them. They failed to keep me updated on progress and it didn’t feel like they were representing my interests. Their staff appeared to be overworked and regularly told me how busy they were with other clients as a reason for their failure to respond to me.... Read more

We have recently sold our home through Savills Brechin. Their team - Ruaraidh, Sandra and Kim - always provided prompt and effective service whether in person, by phone or by email. Ruaraidh in particular, demonstrated an historical knowledge of our locality and its housing market, and led a thoughtful discussion about the value of our home and its likely buyers. Disappointing. The Lettings team did not inform me that my application for a property was unsuccessful, This was in spite of providing them with detailed financial information and they knew that I needed a property urgently. I had not heard from them and had to chase them up myself or I would never have known. I will not be using this estate agent when I come to buy a property.... Read more

Rented with the Dundee branch. Viewed the property when the tenant was still in, got the keys after they had left from the office. When I opened the door, I was horrified. Urine stained mattresses, hair everywhere, blood on another mattress and up the walls, and the place was filthy. Noone from the office would come up and see the mess I was moving in to, and advised me the place had been cleaned to a high standard. Clearly you have pretty screwed views of what a high standard is. It took ages to get them to uplift the bloody mattress and urine soaked mattress, and in the meantime, I had to clean the deritus left from the previous tenant!!! Disgusting. Next issue - height of winter and the boiler/heating wasn't working. They were quite happy to leave us without heat or hot water for almost 2 weeks. Thankfully, we found a plumber who kindly came to help us. Next issue - the boiler was leaking and we could have died of C02 inhalation as the monitors didn't detect it. Countless issues with the boiler, and each time I reported a new issue, I was told "the boilers already been fixed" NO! These were new issues and they were not quick to help us out. There was a leak external to the property, which our neighbour contacted the owner directly about and funnily enough, it was fixed (without our knowledge or input) the next day. But issues to safety can be left....good one. On leaving the property, we made sure it was clean, and WAY cleaner than how we moved in to it. We were charged a cleaning fee. HILARIOUS. By then we had moved far, far away and in no mood to fight any longer. Put it this way - I hadn't left the place covered in blood, urine, hair or toenails so saying it wasn't clean was an absolute insult. I was honestly not touch this company nor Countrywide (their overlords) with a barge pole.... Read more

Under no circumstances sell your business with Hilton Smythe. We made the unfortunate decision to sign a six month contract with them back in February this year to sell our shop. A valuer visited us and told us that if we paid so much upfront, they'd be no more fee's to pay and if the shop wasn't sold within six months we could simply pull it off the market or go with someone else. It was originally marketed and valued at £50,000. Initially we had a lot of interest and a sale looked likely. Then lockdown happened three weeks into the shop being advertised and all went quiet until late July, early August. Barely anything from Hilton Smythe. This we had expected due to the circumstances. In the meantime, the shop has been open and trading extremely well. Then come early August, we start being messed around by the agent. Suddenly and without any warning another agent has taken over and is arranging viewings with people who are not properly vetted. We're let down at the last minute by people who don't show up. We then reduce the price of our business in an effort to sell quicker, even then the agents kept calling with offer's well below the new asking price and when we turned them all down, we were made to feel like we're the ones being unreasonable and as though we should just accept any offer. Low and behold, we have decided to take our business off the market. Our contract ran out on August 2nd, therefore we are now out of contract. But... Hilton Smythe have stated that we have to give them six weeks notice for them to take our business off the market and in this time, we must accept viewings else we are liable for a fee of almost £3,000! We only received an actual copy of our contract, the day we gave Hilton Smythe our notice, which was two days ago. Yesterday, emails were flying back and forth between Myself and the agency over yet another no show. Hilton Smythe have become bullies and will stoop to any depths. They're not on the sellers side, the very people paying them and they will send anyone, unvetted, to waste your time on the promise of a sale. No matter how hard you try to get out of it, they will use 'the contract' against you. Do expect a level of stress that will drive you to the brink of a nervous breakdown and if you have a decent business, expect it to be adversely affected by bogus buyers phoning them and then you being forced into showing such people around! I urge anyone thinking of selling a business, go elsewhere. I wish I had seen some of these reviews back in February.... Read more
