We are absolutely delighted with the professional service received from MQ estate agents! From the offset, Garry's experience, expertise and confidence was our main reason for moving forward with MQ. He explained the process and immediately provided hands-on support, taking many pictures that provided excellent visuals of each room, whilst adding his own personal touch that I very much appreciated. He also drafting a very detailed description for the advert, which in my opinion has been instrumental in marketing our home to its true potential. Once on the market Rory provided regular updates on client appointments. A special callout to Holly (negotiator) who called regularly to follow up, and has been instrumental in concluding the current accepted offer and ongoing support as we move to close the sale. In summary; from the initial meeting with Garry and the support from Holly, MQ have shown that they are a very professional, honest and supportive team! I had bad expereinces with local Agents in the Shawlands area. Too many agents think clients are stupid. Changed to MQ did viewing myself. Had 3 viewers on the same day and one made an acceptable offer the next working day. There was a delay with the conveyancing but it all came out right in the end.... Read more

At the beginning of marketing my house. I felt I was explained everything, upfront costs deductions for paying media pack early etc and was happy . But managers changed for the better in my opinion, then when house was sold the final bill was much higher than expected. Nobody was sure exactly what was prepaid. My annoyance may be partly my fault as my interpretation of what was originally said was not what it said in fine print.... Read more

Wardhaugh are absolutely unprofessional and nasty, After renting a property and asking for repairs that were dangerous to my family's health, they refused to address these, they wouldn't answer emails and Fiona the manager at Forfar would shout nastily on the phone if you dared call the office and speak to her about these. Boiler stopped working in the middle of winter, 3 children under 5, wardhaugh would not fix this, we had to fix this from our own pocket. One of the few times they had one of their own workmen in they broke something in the house and wardhaugh tried to bill myself and my husband for this! I have had threatening calls from the company, I have been called a various range of names from this place also! A friend went to view one of their properties and was turned away as he didn't look the part to live in the area, without even viewing the house. In the end, my family had to leave here due to high stress and other health concerns related to the condition the property was allowed to deteriorate to at the hands of the agents. I would advise anyone who considers renting from this agency to avoid them. We went on to buy a new home, and I wouldn't line Wardhaugh's pockets by buying one of their properties, thank you Wardhaugh for making our life hell for 2 year and pushing us into the property ladder!... Truly remarkable service. Our sale was achieved in just a few months after my previous agent had it for years without any glimmer of success. Outstanding, personal and professional service from a truly remarkable, experienced and knowledgeable team. I had several dealings with Max as the pandemic set in and he stood out as being a wonderful young man. Even during the lockdown everything was kept on track and handled with utter perfection. Every single aspect of the sale from the initial valuation, the viewings and the dealing with the lawyers was all handled with such ease and true professionalism by the agency. Under no circumstances sell your business with Hilton Smythe. We made the unfortunate decision to sign a six month contract with them back in February this year to sell our shop. A valuer visited us and told us that if we paid so much upfront, they'd be no more fee's to pay and if the shop wasn't sold within six months we could simply pull it off the market or go with someone else. It was originally marketed and valued at £50,000. Initially we had a lot of interest and a sale looked likely. Then lockdown happened three weeks into the shop being advertised and all went quiet until late July, early August. Barely anything from Hilton Smythe. This we had expected due to the circumstances. In the meantime, the shop has been open and trading extremely well. Then come early August, we start being messed around by the agent. Suddenly and without any warning another agent has taken over and is arranging viewings with people who are not properly vetted. We're let down at the last minute by people who don't show up. We then reduce the price of our business in an effort to sell quicker, even then the agents kept calling with offer's well below the new asking price and when we turned them all down, we were made to feel like we're the ones being unreasonable and as though we should just accept any offer. Low and behold, we have decided to take our business off the market. Our contract ran out on August 2nd, therefore we are now out of contract. But... Hilton Smythe have stated that we have to give them six weeks notice for them to take our business off the market and in this time, we must accept viewings else we are liable for a fee of almost £3,000! We only received an actual copy of our contract, the day we gave Hilton Smythe our notice, which was two days ago. Yesterday, emails were flying back and forth between Myself and the agency over yet another no show. Hilton Smythe have become bullies and will stoop to any depths. They're not on the sellers side, the very people paying them and they will send anyone, unvetted, to waste your time on the promise of a sale. No matter how hard you try to get out of it, they will use 'the contract' against you. Do expect a level of stress that will drive you to the brink of a nervous breakdown and if you have a decent business, expect it to be adversely affected by bogus buyers phoning them and then you being forced into showing such people around! I urge anyone thinking of selling a business, go elsewhere. I wish I had seen some of these reviews back in February.... Read more
