I found them to be very professional, knowledge and they have me some great tips in order to finally sell my home. We went ahead with Big Black Hen and there suggestions and hey presto, our house sold. Ive since recommend Big Black Hen to my friends and family. Great service

17th Sep 2026 (6 weeks ago)Recently finally sold my property after a very long arduous selling process (no fault of Connells). Connells were amazing throughout seemed to be the only party at times to have my best interest. Charlie in particular was amazing reaching out and offering tons of support, especially when a buyer pulled out (again no fault of Connells) the had a new buyer within a week. Couldn’t recommend them enough and big thank you again to not only Charlie but the whole team.

1st Jun 2026 (22 weeks ago)We recently viewed a property in Southmoor which we really loved, fully aware it required a significant amount of work. We initially offered £378,000, and Graham contacted us to push £380,000, suggesting we increase our offer to secure the property. Reluctantly, we agreed as we didn’t want to lose it. Given the age of the property (1960s), we arranged a survey, which highlighted several issues. As a result, we submitted a revised offer to reflect the additional work required. Around the same time, we revisited the property and noticed that three fence panels were down, including one on our side. When I raised this with Graham, his response was dismissive, describing it as “only cosmetic,” which felt inappropriate given the rising cost of materials and repairs. Throughout the process, Graham’s attitude came across as dismissive and, at times, rude. Communication lacked professionalism, and we often felt our concerns were being minimised. We later received an email stating that the beneficiary’s husband, who is apparently a builder of 45 years, had dismissed the issues raised in the survey. This response felt unconstructive and contradictory, particularly as relatively minor issues like the fencing had not been addressed. Overall, the process raised multiple red flags, both in terms of communication and transparency. Unfortunately, our experience has been negative, and we would not feel confident dealing with this estate agent again and I would recommend other people to be aware of them.
7th Feb 2025 (1 year ago)After minimal success with our first Agent in selling our house, we chose to move to 'James Gesner Estate agents' due to their knowledge of Wallingford and the surrounding area and specifically one area. Having the team represent our sale, and then to find us a property in the area we were looking to move, I would comment that James and the team were exceptional. The data (marketing report) that they provide against the sales element was informative, the viewings that they conducted, were very professional and the correspondence was always relevant, and always available. James is very knowledgeable where it matters and worked tirelessly in supporting both the house sale and purchase, and I felt that he really went above and beyond in providing a great service and doesn't seem to switch off by providing updates whilst in Mexico. James Gesner Estate Agency will certainly be first on my list for any House sales/Letting.
12th Sep 2018 (8 years ago)Have rented premium properties >3K in North Oxford and the area for many years, using multiple agencies. This is one of the worst agencies in Oxford, only exceeded in their general incompetence by Finders Keepers.
5th Oct 2026 (27 days ago)We found ourselves selling our cherished family home in a very tricky and unpredictable market. However Alex Barton at Strutt and Parker Newbury exceeded our expectations with his calm, extremely professional and level headed approach. Alex’s knowledge of the market and the local area is second to non, and he was always on the other end of the phone be it for reassurance or updates on viewings etc. I really felt as though our hand was held throughout the process and nothing was ever a problem and always delivered with a smile! The marketing of our home was exceptional both from Newbury as well as Head Office. It really was a pleasure selling our home through S&P and I would highly recommend Alex to anybody needing to sell their own most cherished treasure. Thank you S&P!

29th Oct 2025 (1 year ago)they lied and charged us for all the marketing material then never used it. we got ZERO enquirers or viewings for over 4 months- then found the online information was WRONG. stating the home is a decade older (i bought it NEW) and worth over £1 million LESS. they refuted to change it, then after we terminated the contract they refuse to rerun the photos we paid for. we spent thousands of pounds and hundreds of hours prepping the house for photos, and paid over £2,000 in total for them.

From start to finish, Sophie and Lance were absolutely amazing and made a stressful process so easy!<br><br>Being a small, family-run business really sets them apart. The service was so much more personal, genuine and caring. They were always approachable, easy to contact and happy to help, no matter how big or small the question.<br><br>What stood out most was how much they genuinely cared. We never felt like just another customer or transaction. They went above and beyond throughout the entire process, always keeping us informed, offering reassurance and making us feel like we were in safe hands.<br><br>It’s rare to find a business that combines such professionalism with a truly personal touch. From the start, they were friendly, approachable, and really took the time to understand my situation.<br><br>Grace made the whole mortgage process feel a lot less overwhelming. She explained everything clearly, answered all my questions, and made sure I felt confident at every step. Nothing ever felt rushed, and I genuinely felt like she had my best interests in mind.<br><br>Thanks to her help, I was able to move forward with getting my mortgage, and I couldn’t be more grateful. 1st Aug 2026 (13 weeks ago)We had heard that selling a house is a stressful experience. However we found that it isn’t, if GianFranco at Hortons is acting for you! From the initial contact we found GianFranco to be efficient, professional, proactive and thoroughly pleasant. He sold our property on the day of the first set of viewings and kept us informed all the way up to completion. I could not have scripted a more stress free experience myself. There should be a five star plus rating to do justice to excellence like GianFanco’s. Thank you on behalf of our family.
