When I first considered placing my property on the market I was advised to try an Estate Agent which markets many properties in North Oxford and the Cotswolds. The Agent who came to visit the house ( a 2 bed 4 reception detached house in Heading Quarry) was not encouraging, rather dismissive, and suggested marketing it at a figure well below its valuation five years ago! I was not happy with this approach and invited Chancellors to look at it. When Angela Lessani arrived her attitude was entirely different; it was positive and encouraging and I knew I had got the right person to present the property to potential buyers. From that moment on she dwelt on the positive qualities of the house and succeeded in attracting a number of viewers. I have now sold the house & been deeply impressed by Angela's attitude throughout; always supportive & generous with sensible and practical advice and maintaining her belief in the property and its future. Many thanks Angela for your encouragement which has seen me through an experience which is stressful and can at times seem overwhelming. Well done.... Read more

I am not used to giving this kind of review or writing at all because I believe that we can all make mistakes. But I think there are mistakes that cannot be made 3 times. A month and a few days ago exactly I started to fill out the documentation to acquire a house with Chancellors. They called me very early every day and they were always very aware of what I needed. It took me a week to fill out the form and send all the documentation. The landlord approved us and only our references were missing. They sent us the contract for 25th June and we are supposed to have the house that day. They called me and told me that at 11:30 am on 25th we would meet at the house to hand over the keys. On Tuesday 23rd June they emailed me to tell me that unfortunately they have to delay the day of moving because we did not have the complete references. We accept that and delay the day to 1st July. On July 1st we were told that it was impossible to move in because the Landlord had withdraw the application due to our references and 3 days later an email arrived saying that our references are correct. On July 2nd the girl from the agency called me and told me that she has another house that we do not need anything else. That we do not have to worried at all and that she was going to take care of everything and we could move on 9th July. As we were supposed to move on 25th June. We paid rent and deposit on 22nd June and from that day everything was delayed. We thought because they were just putting everything in order but each time we were delaying and delaying more and more. We are on July 7 and the only thing I have done is try to call them and speak to the person in charge but they tell me that at the moment they cannot speak with me. Another very relevant point is that Lucinda Sturla the girl from the agency no longer works there since July 4 and now the manager was Olivia. I am trying to communicate with Olivia from that same day, July 4 and it is IMPOSSIBLE. I spoke to the manager, Jhon and he says he can't do anything because he doesn't have the letting department. What type of company does this to its clients who HAVE ALREADY PAID AN INCOME AND A DEPOSIT OF MORE THAN 2,600.00 POUNDS? The MASSIVE PROBLEM is that at the moment I am on the street because I am supposed to sign a contract for June 25 and then for July 1 and THERE IS NO ANSWER. I left my house from the 25th because the contract ended. This agency takes money from you and does not care about you. This is unheard of and disrespectful to us. Now I am trying to get my money back for two days and I don't get a response. Finally I decided to take legal action and go to lawyers because it seems disrespectful that they make fun of me... From the initial contact with reference to a viewing to the process of application and referencing, Allen and Harris provide an excellent and professional service. Our initial contact was with Ben Shaw whom provided a personable and very thorough first stage with the viewing. Ben ensured that the property we were interested in was a perfect match for us and the landlord. Every step was thorough and we were guided all the way. Once application approved, we then worked with Jack Woodhouse who oversees the referencing and paperwork stages. Again, Jack provided a personable and step by step guide to the process. At all times we were able to contact both Ben and Jack with any questions. This was reassuring and has made the process stress free! I would not recommend this Company to anyone wishing to buy or sell a house. Even at the point of exchange the property i was purchasing was still on the market, when asked if they would remove it they refused. They didn't even change the status to under offer which made us panic throughout the sale. Chancellors also insist on phoning you several times a week with updates on new properties even when you are nearing completion on a property with them.....why? What should have been a very exciting time turned into a stressful period of our life.... Read more

Our house was arranged for a part-Ex through TM but as far as I am concerned I should still be treated like a client with the same standards. The whole ordeal with TM has been terrible. They do not vet any of the viewers, most people who came round either had no funds to buy the house, not sold their current house or could not commit to the moving date being so far in advance. More then one occasion the agents were so late to the house that we were more then half way showing the people round. When they did finally show up we had to book in private extra viewings or answer extra questions as TM were unable to answer questions on the house or commit to more viewings. The icing on the cake was the final viewing. They were late as usual and we were halfway through showing the people round. We advised the non apologetic agent that we would walk up the road then come back and to call us on my mobile when ready (Had this situation with Green & Co and they called and waited for 2 minutes just fine) 20 mins later we heard nothing so we walked back to the house to find the agent gone and ALL doors to the house unlocked with the viewers waiting outside saying they were waiting as the agent left it all unlocked. We were relieved to find these people were not the type to take advantage of the situation or any passer by for that matter! We called to complain to the Wantage branch and the manager was less then helpful if not rude. We were very calm on the phone and stated the facts in order but we were cut off by him saying 'its not getting us anywhere'. No apology so we advised we would talk to our developer to remove them, to which he replied 'We'll see' then hung up! I will never be using TM and will be advising friends and family the same.... If I could rate zero stars I would. I have recently had a terrible experience with Green and Co. Wantage and would seriously never wish to have anything to do with them again! As a buyer spending a significant amount of money on a property, I was treated appallingly! If it had not been for the fact that I absolutely love the property I have purchased through them, both Gemma and James would have put me off the sale along time ago. On several occasions I was on the receiving end of what I can only describe as bullying! Never before have I had to ask someone to stop being so rude to me over the phone (as I did with Gemma when she hung up on me!) Due to having to sell my property in order to purchase my next (standard chain scenario) I was telephoned for updates by these guys almost constantly who became really quite angry with me! The whole experience was dreadful. There is a lot more I could say about their unprofessionalism but the main point here is avoid dealing with these people if you don't want to be treated like dirt! ... Read more
