As expected with these things there were hiccups, but Alex did everything he could to ensure a smooth sale and keep me up to date with what was going on. It was a pleasure working with Alex, and I look forward to hopefully working with him and Crendon house again in the future

He suggested I contacted James Merrifield at there Oxford branch to discuss my options. I felt very confident with the advise he gave me on the sale process so I instructed him to proceed. like all good sales things did not go as planed, but James was with me 100% of the way sorting all the obstacles to achieve the sale. A big thank you for your help James and the professional service you provided. I would highly recommend Thomas Merrifield.

21st Mar 2026 (13 weeks ago)We called twice and on each occasion left a message so that the responsible person or team could get in touch regarding a property valuation. On both occasions call-backs were promised but never happened. It seems they can afford to turn away potential clients and business. We will now use other agents.

1st Jun 2026 (18 days ago)WARNING to tenants! Haven't had to deal with such a scammy agency in years. Make sure to document every inch of the flat when you move in – e.g., they tried to charge me for screws inside the cupboard under the sink, or dust in the bathroom ventilation systems... totally ridiculous. Most of the check-out charges are made in bad faith and can be negotiated down or completely eliminated provided you have the evidence to back it up. I managed to halve their haphazard check-out charges by providing documented evidence from my check-in which exposed their bad-faith claims. Another predatory scheme to watch out for is their 'no rent deposit scheme', which they pushed onto me by threatening that the landlord wouldn't give me the property unless I paid the extra £500 or so – for a service that I received no benefit from. One year after moving out of the flat, I am still receiving charges of £100 for this ridiculous scheme. During the tenancy, I received minimal attention to serious problems such as fire doors falling off their hinges, or completely corroded stove tops ("you simply need to scrub the burners"). Would recommend all tenants to avoid this agency as much as possible.
25th Apr 2026 (8 weeks ago)Hodsons found a buyer for my property with the help of Anita Smith at good price with excellent communication throughout the viewing and offer acceptance process. My buyer was a naive first time buyer who chose a terrible solicitor (Premier Property Lawyers) who presented multiple challenges throughout the convencying process such as absent communication, missed deadlines and bad paperwork. However, Hodsons with Lesley Fenwick and Kerry Nichols provided excellent support and communication to chase the buyer and their solicitor throughout the convencying process to push through the sale.

31st Mar 2026 (11 weeks ago)Time wasters. They don’t include pet restrictions in ads. When we ring to ask about pets, they state “pets will be considered on application”. Then once we view the property and put in an application, they state pets will not be accepted. They must get some form of commission per application…
29th Apr 2026 (7 weeks ago)?In my opinion, the Abingdon office's lack of communication shows disrespect for someone else’s time and is simply unacceptable. After requesting more details about the property, I received an email and a voicemail requesting that I call back asap, as I was informed that their ''properties are letting very quickly''. I returned the call within 5min and was advised that Gary would call me back because he was busy at that moment. I have been attempting to arrange a viewing for a week now; however, my call has not been returned and my follow-up emails have gone unanswered. Silence is not an acceptable standard of customer service — particularly after collecting personal information. I have now requested that they erase all of my personal information from their records as it appears my data was collected without any intention of providing the requested service.
