I spent a long while looking for the perfect house and could not have been happier with the level of service and professionalism I received from the team at John Payne. From their patience and understanding of my needs during viewings to the level of care when going through exchange I have been very impressed.
I was in a chain free position to buy and I had assured John Payne that I would be in position to exchange very quickly after an offer was accepted. However once the my offer on the house was accepted, my mortgage offer took 10 weeks to come back. Obviously during this time myself and the seller where getting very nervous. However the Daisy and the team at John Payne, handled the situation amazingly. Reassuring both sides and making sure everything was all in place to exchange when the offer came back. Exchange and completion went through without any issues at all. Picked the keys up at 10:00am on completion day with a big handshake and congratulations from Glenn.
It was very reassuring to see an estate agency with so much patience. I am very grateful that the house I bought was via John Payne. Could not recommend them more!
Be careful before buying a property from them.
I had agreed a price on a property they were marketing. Just before exchanging, they pulled out and sold it to someone else. The manager Glenn Maher was particularly unprofessional during the process.
Not only I lost the property, but also the fees for surveyor, mortgage, solicitor.
I appreciate you looking into this matter. It is unfortunate you didn't find your agent's working style very aggressive, offensive and not up to your professional standards as my wife and I did.

I sold my house last year with John Payne; I also bought with the same estate agency partly to ease the process of buying our next home which turned out to be the case.
They valued our previous home correctly (sold within a couple of weeks very near to asking price) were quick with returning any queries or issues I had and were honest and straightforward with advice they gave. I had conversations with a number of staff at the office and at no point did I feel uncomfortable with regards to any aspect of the sale or purchase. I would definitely recommend Chris and JP to anyone wishing to sell their home.
Avoid renting from John Payne at all costs. We were shown this property by John Payne in Lee. However, they don't do the management of the rental properties. It means that you don't meet the staff that are responsible for managing your property until after you have paid your holding fee. By that time it can be too late.
We had arranged for the house to be in a certain condition and they lied to us before moving in saying that it would be. We then found the property to be not as agreed and since we saw the property even more maintenance was needed.
This has caused us lots of emotional distress and their poor customer service continued as we went through the complaints process. We took them to the TPO and got a distress and inconvenience award and we have attached the findings below just to show how poor they are.
It seems from the reviews that we aren't the only people they have done this to. The property we were getting was £2100.00pm. For this you would expect a high level of customer service, yet we got the worst we've ever had. Please don't make the same mistake as us and go through these people to rent!

We said thank you before we moved to them. But We regret to do it. They arranged the cleaning date for our moving date! Because they provide us a very bad cleaning services, after the "cleaning" we even found a dead mouse in the property and everywhere was mouldy. The carpet was totaly wet like a lake and we could not walk in the property without shoes. They explained it that the cleaning team did a very deep clean, because of the carpet in wet. But it is just a lie. It is the most terrible experience we have ever had. I attached all the evidence of professional cleaning. I do not know how I can explain this bad experience with the words but we found even a dead mouse under the washing machine. Spider webs and mouldy surfaces and more... We reported all of them and they said that they can send the cleaning team to the property. Seriously? Even we stricly warned them they were walking with their shoes on the carpet and left everywhere in mouldy and stinky. Of course we denied it because of these. The boiler was not working since we moved and its January. Luckily, we found a heater. Luckly our Landlord changed it with a new one in a week. We reported each problem we have. We were expecting a solution to compensate for the time, money spent and unsatisfied situation from Foxtons and Landlord. I have been tried to be kind and just explain my problem directly to them, I was not planning to tell all of this on Google but Foxtons Blackheath rather to blame to the Landlord and they did not provide a solution together for my extra expenses and precious time I wasted. Because of that I decided to share the realty here. It is a completely a disappointment.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mai Webster, the property manager from Complete Prime. We did not have a pleasant experience with Complete Prime and it wasn't easy to out of the tenancy contract but we really appreciate Mai's cooperation and support to arrange the move-out.

Terrible company with a huge staff turnover. They just do not respond to issues or problems whatsoever. Avoid at all costs.

Having worked with Sue before I was keen to use John Payne again because I was working away from home whilst my property was on the market. The move also involved a long distance relocation and I needed to work with an agent I could trust.
That said, the point where Sue and all her team really pulled the stops out was towards the end on the sale. The chain lower down became very challenging and nearly collapsed...twice! Lucy, my main contact, was an absolute superstar, exceptional. Without her, I doubt the move would have happened and my sanity would certainly not have lasted. From phoning round for new removal companies to keeping solicitors on their toes, it really felt like Lucy cared about the sale and the stress was shared. She went above and beyond and I'm very grateful to now be settled in my lovely new home.
Their rates are also competitive.
