I want to THANK Karl Moynes for handling my mother in law’s recent sale from start to finish, he went above and beyond to make it happen.
I’ve bought/sold/rented/let-out several UK flats (though never a house) in my time, and worked with UK Estate Agents many times – IMHO it all depends on the individual who embodies the values of their company on how it works (or doesn’t).
They’re usually as aggressive as possible to earn their commission, but often after a couple of weeks if the property doesn’t sell quickly their interest fades as they think the market, season, price, location or the property’s condition is going to make it unsaleable – along with their commission.
Karl at Ipswich & Suffolk Estate Agents has been such a refreshing change, he really helped us when my mother-in-law abandoned her house in Ipswich agend 95, as she finally agreed to move to a Care Home. BUT – to pay the massive Care Home fees we had to sell her house as there are no government or Council subsidies or benefits for the elderly in the UK, no plans to introduce any, and the fees had already eaten up her savings.
It was a ‘slow’ season, and the market had been very slow that year, so things didn’t look good; making it harder was the fact that we live the other side of the world, and had no experience of selling a house.
We were left with the burden of not knowing what to do, and with the indifference, delays and mistakes of Barclays Bank in not recognising a correct Power of Attorney, and Sussex Council giving no help at all, my wife was left with my mostly irrelevant advice, and becoming unwell with stress & anxiety.
Is summary neither of us has sold a house before, let alone someone else’s, from a far-off country and a time zone, while the Bank and Council weren’t giving any help in supporting an unwell 95 year-old widow.
Enter Karl Moynes, who took a personal interest in making her sale happen, and without him I don’t think my wife would have made it through. He is a modest but very experienced guy who embodies the values of his company when he says of himself “I always try to go out of my way to help people. I am so glad it all went through smoothly you can relax now knowing she doesn't have to worry about her mum's house anymore.”
He visited my mu-in-law several times at her Care Home to get required signatures to complete the sale, and personally helped with the property’s abandoned state and contents, including clearance and legal recommendations.
So - I repeat my thanks, Karl has been a rock all the way through, and we truly appreciate him for it.
He’s not about making a quick buck, he’s about really understanding his clients’ circumstances and difficulties, and made himself available to help them personally with property, in our case a house that wasn’t even ours and living thousands of miles away.
He gave practical advice on how the processes work, was VERY hands-on with the bureaucracy and guided after many months without let-up to find a suitable buyer and agree a decent price.
We commend VERY HIGHLY Karl Moynes at Ipswich & Suffolk Estate Agents to any reader of this review and offer him and the company our deepest thanks, without his unending and experienced support and dedication we would never have sold my mother-in-law’s house.
P – for my wife B.
