We felt they were on our side and did everything they could to make a house purchase stress free. Shout out to Scott and Fiona specifically. We have originally with different solicitors and had a bad experience. Glad we have swapped to Connor Malcolm. Top marks.
2nd Oct 2026 (30 days ago)Having been bequeathed a property in Scotland, when I no longer live there, could have been extremely problematic. However from the first contact with Claire and then Gareth, who assisted throughout the whole process, I could not have wished for a better outcome. The house survey report, the EPC, marketing, pictures and drone pictures were all organised by Gareth - this was all undertaken via telephone discussions with Slater Hogg. Continual contact was maintained throughout the process. I always felt that Slater Hogg valued my business and due to the circumstances (me not living in Scotland) I believe that Claire and Gareth went beyond normal expectations to overcome difficulties that may have arisen due to the distance between me and the property.<br>Slater Hogg and Howison have been exceptional and I would not hesitate in recommending them to others and to Gareth I would say thank you - I truly appreciate your efforts on my behalf.

My dealings have been with the Shawlands branch, through whom I recently purchased my flat. They have been: unfailingly helpful; conducted the viewing in a friendly and knowledgeable way ( not my universal experience with other estate agents covering this part of Glasgow); highly responsive in getting answers to all my questions; and efficient in handling all aspects of the buying process.<br>I would unhesitatingly recommend them. My sincere thanks to Ellenor and her team.<br>PS Just in case you’re wondering, they did not invite me to make this review, I offered to write one because they deserve praise for the way they conducted business with me.

My mortgage advisor (Alana) was great, she walked me through the process in our first meeting and it really helped demystify the whole thing for a first time buyer like me. Additionally, the viewing agent was really friendly and helpful, with a good amount of local knowledge. 13th Jul 2026 (16 weeks ago)Rettie were by far the most unhelpful agents possible. I had an issue with the radiator which I kept asking them about and they refused to help for over 3 weeks in the depths of winter! I had to buy a heated blanket. Then there was a gas issue which they never told us about which we had to get sorted ourselves. Finally, upon leaving the property, Rettie decided to claim there was a stain on the bed underside and deducted a huge amount of deposit even though the stain was there originally. I would never ever use Rettie again!

3rd Nov 2023 (2 years ago)(While the company did finally provide compensation, it's important to note that I still experienced a significant opportunity cost as a result of their actions.) It has undeniably been the most regrettable experience of my lifetime, dealing with a solicitor team that exhibited a severe lack of professionalism and courtesy. Initially, I placed my trust in them based on their positive Google reviews, which now appear to be misleading and have led to significant frustration and inconvenience on my part. The solicitor in question was Shari, who astonishingly took a full year to complete the anti-money laundering check, despite my having submitted all required documents promptly. To compound matters, she repeatedly requested the same information, leading to redundant submissions. Regrettably, she ceased all communication, failing to respond to both my emails and those from the seller's side. My attempts to reach her went unanswered for two months until she seemingly disappeared without a trace. I was dismayed to find myself in such a predicament. In desperation, I enlisted the assistance of the estate agent, who contacted Joni, the National Head of Conveyancing. However, this interaction proved to be equally disheartening, as Joni not only displayed a lack of professionalism but also declined to provide any insight into the unilateral breach of contract, responding in a profane manner. I strongly advise against engaging with this company. As a result of their inefficiency, my funds remained in limbo within my bank account, as I had initially believed they could promptly resolve their business matters. Consequently, I have incurred substantial financial losses due to the failure of Simpson & Marwick to deliver on their commitments.

He is so friendly, kind and most importantly patient. I had some issues with keys working - and he was very helpful. Can’t recommend enough! Sorry to say but there must be many better agents out there if a fair assessment is made.

25th Sep 2026 (5 weeks ago)We sold our flat through Coulters in 2026 and had a fantastic experience with the company, and everyone we engaged with in the valuation and selling teams. Coulters helped us get ready for the sale, arranging photography and sales brochures, which came out really well thanks to lots of guidance from their side. After we got our sales particulars ready, it took us a while to make the decision that we were ready to put our flat on the market, but Coulters put no pressure on us over that period of time, and instead continued to advise us and discuss our sales strategy, including when might be the optimal time to put our property on the market, so we can be in a position to buy a new property with a minimal chain/not having to rent in between. Our main contact at Coulters was Francesca Hill who supported us from the first time of reaching out to Coulters, up to the point of unpacking boxes in our new home. Francesca's advice throughout the whole process was truly invaluable, especially in the highly competitive property market in Edinburgh, and we appreciated how professional, experienced and constructive Francesca was. Selling/buying a new home is stressful, but doing it with someone like Francesca on the other end of a phone/email really makes a huge difference.

Abby was very knowledgeable of houses in the area and was so pleasant and helpful all through the process. If I needed anything anyone of the girls were only a phone call away. They took so much stress away from us arranging viewings and making sure they kept us updated every day. Thank you so much girls.
