I called today to arrange a viewing for a property and was very disappointed by the way I was treated. The person who answered the phone was extremely rude and unprofessional throughout the conversation.
He asked who my current landlord was and which estate agency I had previously rented through. When I told him I had rented through Samuel Estates, he responded by saying he had never heard of them in a dismissive and disrespectful manner. From that point on, his attitude was unnecessarily rude and made me feel unwelcome.
I was simply trying to enquire about a property viewing and expected to be treated with basic courtesy and respect. Customer service is an important part of any estate agency, and unfortunately my experience was very poor. Based on this interaction, I would not recommend dealing with this agency.

Awful Company.
Absolutely awful experience with Barstow Eves. As soon as they take your money, they seem to lose all interest in helping you. I moved into a property with serious issues that were clearly hidden during the viewing, and nearly 5 months later basic repairs and safety concerns are STILL not fixed.
The condition of this house is completely unacceptable, especially with children living here. There are ongoing safety hazards that have already caused injuries and continue to put my children at risk daily. On top of that, there are hygiene issues that no family should be expected to live with. It is honestly disgusting and has had a huge impact on our health, wellbeing, and quality of life.
The maintenance department is completely unfit for purpose. Emails are ignored, calls are never returned, and nothing ever gets resolved. You spend your time constantly chasing people who either don’t care or make empty promises that lead nowhere.
Things have now become so bad that I have had no choice but to start seeking advice from Environmental Health and solicitors regarding the condition of the property and the complete lack of action taken. No family should be left living in unsafe and unhygienic conditions for months while an estate agent simply ignores the problem.
The stress and frustration this company has caused my family has been unbelievable. I would strongly warn anyone thinking of renting through Barstow Eves to avoid them completely. Once they have your money, don’t expect support, urgency, or basic care when serious problems arise. Terrible communication, shocking maintenance service, and an overall disgraceful experience.

From start to finish, Ertunc at Bairstow Eves was outstanding. As first time buyers, the process was daunting but Ertunc kept us informed every step of the way, chased all parties when needed and stayed positive even when things got difficult. The chain had several challenges but his persistence and professionalism made all the difference. We finally completed and couldn't be happier with our new home. As a renter, my experience of Bairstow Eves Billericay branch was very disappointing and frustrating.
They are very friendly and chatty but fail to get the job done and action items on their side. I had 2 experiences, where it took a prolonged time and lots of chasing, in order for the action to happen.
The first time, I wanted to renew our contract with some adjustments and it took lots of chasing and follow ups as they were unable to action what was agreed with the landlord and update the contract. The second time, they took over a month to return our deposit. Despite both the landlord and I, confirming to them that it can be returned the same day as speaking with them, they decided to wait a week before instructing the deposits team.
Friendly bunch but they made everything 10x harder than it had to be.
