18th Jul 2024 (9 days ago)After a very negative experience with Michael Jones we put the retirement flat on the market with Jacobs Steel and the experience couldn't have been more different. From the word go the team at Jacobs Steel in Worthing went through everything they would be doing and how they planned to market the flat. We had a number of viewings straight away and good feedback given after each. A short time later we received an offer and Jacobs Steel kept us in the loop and helped chase the managing agents to keep things moving. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone. You get what you pay for and they really are a first class team.
25th Jun 2024 (5 weeks ago)Richard, Chris and Demi are the best agents/service I have received in a very long time. Everything was of the highest professional standard. They answered all questions promptly and dealt with any issues that arose, finding solutions to make sure the completion happened (when looking unlikely). Couldn't recommended the team highly enough. They will have my repeat business for a long time!

29th Jun 2024 (28 days ago)Took a Freind for a arranged viewing of a rental property , arrived early waited past arranged time phoned office several times , called another office who said they spoke to agent and he was running late , waited an hour phoned again and was told the agent left the property and was somewhere else now !!! Complete lie , nice to let people sit outside for that long with no intent on letting them know , poor show indeed….

I’ve rented from a number of agencies but she is probably the best agent who has helped me with a number of the usual renting issues and being very kind and supportive. above all she’s very kind, helpful, positive and whenever i called the office she was lovely to me. i’d highly recommend her to anyone who has any doubts about agencies. I wish her all the best as there’s not many like her, thanks to all your support :) Tom (previous tenant at ropetackle shoreham )

I am very pleased with each and every step with renting my current flat: all the steps are very organised, well documented, all the details are there, way beyond my expectations. Lisa, Harry, Ella and Lucy have been very helpful. Massive thanks to Lisa who helped me throughout the whole process of renting and solved all the issues for me.
13th Jun 2024 (6 weeks ago)Make sure to challenge them on the deposit return. Tell them you will use the Tenancy Deposit Scheme and don’t be afraid to use it if you believe you are right. They wanted to charge £455 from my deposit even though I left the property in much better condition than when I moved in. The agent made several false claims, but eventually settled for a £75 charge. I hope this review helps you get your deposit back and makes these agents understand that tenants’ deposits are only for covering damages, not for them to keep.

We switched to HW after our existing agents were not getting much relevant interest and were making mistakes, missing appointments etc. HW were friendly professional and supportive, we dealt with Niaombh and Adam who I can thoroughly recommend!

It turned out to be a difficult sale for various reasons - none of which were to do with Nic or Nicolas James as a company. Together we got it done. Thank you Nic. 18th Mar 2024 (19 weeks ago)DO NOT SELL YOUR BUSINESS THROUGH THIS COMPANY! READ THE SMALL PRINT This company are extremely aggressive and unprofessional. We advertised a business with them, paid an huge fee to advertise. Later after terminating, we agreed investment (not even a sale) from an investor we met directly, who was never introduced by Hilton Smythe. After accepting investment after terminating with Hilton Smythe they demanded their commission!! Totally unreasonable given it was after termination and the person who invested in our business was never known to or introduced by Hilton Smythe! They are now behaving aggressively and threatening legal action. We in turn have reported them to the ombudsman and trading standards. They are snake oil salesmen. DO NOT DEAL!
6th Mar 2024 (20 weeks ago)I recently moved in to a new property, which I bought through Aspire residential. From start to finish the whole team were professional, informative and extremely helpful. I couldn’t fault them. They were always on hand to answer any questions or update me on the process. Nothing was too much trouble. If at any point I was to consider relocating to another property, I would certainly consider using them to sell my house. So thank you to the whole team for making the process straightforward and easy to manage. I wish you all the best for the new office. I’ve no doubt if you carry on doing what you’re doing, you’ll make a huge success of it. It’s been a pleasure dealing with you.

From the initial valuation of which was on point, there is nothing worse than an agent who will over value to attract your business. I have found Toby provided a smooth service, he and the team are professional, knowledgeable and provided good communication. Thus I would highly recommend Hamlyn Smith for purchasing or selling a property.
5th Jul 2024 (22 days ago)BE VERY CAREFUL!!! Once these lot have your deposit they ignore you. We agreed to buy a buy to let from these and went through the mortgage application with our own agent. We then found out they had overvalued thr property by a fair amount, not allowing us to get a mortgage. We were then told we had to use their mortgage person, which cost us another £300 but we had no option. They also could not get us a mortgage because the value was less than 50k. Upon telling these lot, they are now ignoring our calls, you can't speak to the refund team as only on email, no managers have phones and they won't give us our deposit back even though it states we are entitled to it back for following their stipulations. I'm no being ignored by the salesman Jack and no one will return emails etc. I will be taking this to the Ombudsman too, to highlight this appalling service and blatant overvalued to gain mortgage applicants. They had the same listing on their site for £52,500 and £46,000. We found this after we had agreed a price. So be very careful not to deal with these people. They are rude and have total lack of customer service once they have your deposit. Zero stars from me!!!

As a landlord who always wants to do the right thing by the tenant and property, I would not be without Sean. Communication is prompt, proactive and efficient; he will always pick up the phone and offer as much time and advice as is necessary. A rare aspect in business these days. I would not hesitate to recommend.
