First and foremost there are not enough stars!!
Although an offer for the full asking price was accepted for my flat, it took 6 months to get to exchange of contracts! Throughout that period both Andrew Kay and James Clapham were encouraging, persistent and absolutely brilliant with client care. I cannot praise them enough for all their help and encouragement.
I am moving to Harborne and would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending Arkade Property to handle property matters for anyone who asks!
Well done guys!! (and Sybilla of course:P)
Rented with them for over two years. Staff it's a mix and match with some very nice and helpful people but also some extremely malicious individuals. Happy I don't have to deal with them again and wouldn't go back to renting with them.
Nice team and a great place to work in and definitely to be served. My experience with Connells wasn't great so far, so I didn't rate the other branches, so I had low expectations to go here, but me and my wife we said let's give it a go, why not and in the end we have been impressed, and that's not always easy after you worked even for the royal family. We are a simple and young couple, walking around in t-shirts, but yesterday we met Luke, this guy was amazing and brought us from not wanting to go in your agency to wanting to sign the deal with him yesterday. If any manager can read this please give him an extra day off or a bonus, as he deserved it. He was the first one so far not looking at us down, just because our budget wasn't the best or because we were not wearing expensive clothes. Because of him you got 5 stars and definitely we will go back to him.
Had three viewings and they cancelled two, travelled all the way down to Birmingham from Sheffield, payed 40 pounds for a hotel only to be stood outside the property waiting for agent be told over the phone that the viewing was cancelled due to a car being broken down and that they had absolutely no one else who could do it and there was no one in on the Saturday despite the office being open. Absolutely ridiculous and won't ever use again.
I have just bought a property with Dixons Birmingham City Centre. Ian was professional, courteous, and a pleasure to deal with.
We recently bought a flat in Birmingham city centre through Dixons. Services provided are extremely poor, they make you feel vulnerable and you have no power at all as a buyer. They are trying to get as much money as possible from you and you cannot rely on anything they say. We had to seek for legal advice and even speak to Citizens Advice Bureau and ask for assistance during all the process just because you can never rely on what they say. The whole process was a nightmare, even though we were first time buyers (we had an advantage) with good credit score and other conditions related to the purchase of a property and that is due to Dixons unprofessional staff 100%. We had even been blackmailed by them to pay an unreasonable fee for the apartment we rented through their parent company, Accord Lets, using as an excuse that if we do not pay the fee on a specific date the homeowner of the flat we were about to buy “might change his mind” and decide not to sell it to us. And all these a week before the arranged completion date.
You should be careful if you decide to buy through them and be competent in understanding and enhancing your Rights as a buyer. Definitely not recommended.
As a tenant it is sometimes easy to be overlooked by tenancy agents, but in my situation this was clearly not the case. Gemma Knight was excellent in helping arrange and co-ordinate a number of contractors to make repairs to my apartment, working around difficult schedules and timing. I can’t speak highly enough. Thanks!
Really bad and unprofessional !!
They have not given me back my deposit and it's more than a month.
In short very abrupt, no common sense and totally biased towards landlords
Taking them to deposit protection scheme.
Really bad service !!
I can only speak for my own experience but they were great for me- a very personal experience. I did witness some of the 'dark side' mentioned in other reviews here towards other customers, but yer man is a good guy- just don't mess him around. For example, with the bills, its perfectly reasonable that you should pay them before getting your deposit back, so don't make up 'legal cases' otherwise.
I didn't get my deposit back for 5 months after moving out, but this was the fault of EDF- not City Life. When I finally did get proof of payment, I got the deposit back in my account the following week. The young woman who deals with deposits there is particularly good. There was an unexpected charge in the small print (less than 50) but after having read the comments here I couldn't believe how easy it all was... especially since after 3 months of moving out the flat I wasn't even covered by the Deposit Protection Scheme.
They could have stung me but they didn't- I'd go with them again.
They do not care about their customers. When ever there is a problem they tell the tenats to solve it themselves. Mices are everywhere!!!!!
Great service, i rented via AR for a few years and they've been ever present and available whenever any issue has occurred. No problems with AR whatsoever. Utterly professional. I can only recommend AR and i would go to them first if/when the tables are turned and i am the landlord. I'll actually miss them because now i've just bought this property previously rented through themselves... i'm now on my own! Thanks to Lindsay, Gareth, Luke and the rest of the team at AR!!
I'm not sure what's worse - the appalling way in which Asset Residential treated us during the end of tenancy process, or the fact I can't give them the zero stars they truly deserve. I would NOT recommend renting a property from this company if it can be avoided in any way.
To be fair to them - they weren't terrible during the the time for which we rented the property for. About as slow as any estate agent/landlord I've had experience with in the past.
But they were dreadful when it came to returning the deposit. They tried to take £500 off the initial deposit. When we then requested details and evidence to back up their claim we didn't receive anything, not even after several requests. It felt very much as though they were picking on the little guy because they had the time and money to dispute and stall. Due to their lack of evidence and explanation I of course contested the amount. This went through the DPS process and I spent many hours collating evidence to dispute their claims (at which point they had still not provided any evidence for).
I was eventually awarded the full claim amount back - I can only assume it was because they didn't have any evidence to their claims but they were trying their luck because it probably works on the majority of people- A way for them to get easy money from people because they don't have the time to contest and go through the process or simply cannot afford it.
They are bullies and I will be writing a formal complaint.
If you are forced to rent through Asset - ENSURE you take photo's when you first move into the property and be very detailed on the itinerary for anything which they 'forgot' to record. Good Luck
EDIT: After seeing the managers aggressive response and having him question my integrity as he stated "you did leave the property in an extremely poor condition" - here's an extract from the information I had to put together for the DPS to retrieve my money back (cleaning only!) Hopefully it enables you to see the kind of company Asset Residential is and how they're managed.
Asset residential is trying to claim 175.50 for: 'The property required 9 hours 45 minutes of professional cleaning at £15 per hour plus VAT'. This simply cannot be the case. Before we moved out of the property we employed the services of Daily Poppins ‘Cleaning Service Specialists’. The flat was not dirty but we decided to use Daily Poppins to remove the risk of there being any dispute over the deposit. For this service they charged £132 which consisted of two cleaners for 3.5 hours performing the end of tenancy clean as detailed in the attachment. Once Daily Poppins had finished cleaning we were happy that the flat looked in better condition than we had received it 2.5 years prior. Daily Poppins were kind enough to put a few words together based on their extensive experience of cleaning properties. This can be seen in the attached evidence zip file. As you can see they state that 9.75 hours alone is excessive for the size of property. So for Asset to claim that the property required 9.75 hours’ worth of cleaning after we had paid a respected and well known cleaning company to complete the task is utterly unbelievable. Especially as throughout the tenancy Elizabeth and I made sure to keep a clean and tidy home. Elizabeth was present when the cleaners were at the property and confirms that 7 hours of the end of tenancy clean was completed. When Asset first informed us that they were intending to charge us for 9.75 hours of cleaning, we of course asked them to provide evidence to justify the claim. Throughout the entire process we are yet to see a shred of evidence which backs up their justification of the property requiring an excessive 9.75 hour clean after we had already paid a professional service 7 hours. This is why we do not believe that we should be paying anything to contribute for the ‘so called’ 9.75 hours clean."
Trying to charge us 10 hours of cleaning for a tiny flat after we had a professional service clean for 7 -One example of how Asset residential will try and rob you!
