Avoid this place like the plaque. Corrupt staff who will pressure you to do your Mortgage in-house because the vendor “prefers people who are doing the mortgage with Connells” LIES LIES LIES! It is wrong to coerce your customers into taking a mortgage with you!!! Many agents have been investigated for this and Connells should be too. The vendors(sellers) did not ask Connells to make sure the mortgage is done through them this is pure lies. They just want their commission. We put an offer in for a house, we also made the mistake of doing our mortgage with them as first time buyers we didn’t know any different. Another buyer also put an offer in - we were made aware that this offer was higher but our offer was accepted because we are doing our mortgage in house. This was great news for us and gave us assurance that we made the right decision going through Connells. We went in and done all the paperwork paid a £500 fee. Alarm bells should have rung when whilst we were doing the affordability the advisor let slip that there are tenants in the house. The vendors son is living there - so how is it a vacant purchase?? She assured us he will be moving out however could not confirm when. She assured us it wasnt a big deal and nothing to worry about. the next day we got the call that the other buyer who had put the higher offer in had gone directly to the vendor and increased his offer therefore we have lost out on the house. No this was all lies. They did not eveb inform the vendor that there was a higher offer because they were not doing the mortgage through Connells hence no commission. When that buyer went around to the vendor that is when the vendor realised there was a higher offer and that’s why we lost out. The vendor as with everyone just wants a good price regardless of where or who the mortgage is with. Connells are dishonest and corrupt. Avoid them if you want a smooth first buy or any buy.... The 2 Chloes who dealt with the sale of my property were very professional and kept me updated all through the process until the sale came to its conclusion and they both deserve a 5* rating. However their 5* got reduced to 1 due to tbe extremely poor service I received from the rental side of Martin & Co. Occasionally I visited the property that M&C managed for me and on each occasion was alarmed when witnessing what alterations the tenants had made. They were repeaterly told that I needed to approve any changes prior to them takiing place but that only seemed to fall on 'deaf ears' as they continued to do as they pleased. I raised my concrrns with M&C via email, phone calls and face to face meetings and was assured that when the tenants vacated the property that ithey would return it to the condition it was in when they took up residence......foolishly I believed them, but now I realise that they were only paying me 'lip service' as the condition of the property was a disgrace when the tenants vacated. I enquired why the changes hadnt been spotted during the 6 monthly property checks and it appears there was no consistency of inspectors so changes would not have noticed. If the inspector had cross checked the inventory of the property when carrying out the inspections the changes whould have come to light - but they didnt, and when I complained about the state that the tenants had left the property in I was asked to provide a copy of the inventory.......so I had to tell them that they already had one in they cared to check their records! When the tenants departed they they left 85 holes in the lounge walls which they had roughly polyfillered over and left unpainted. There were numerous other faults for which M&C got quotes to cover the remedial work required to restore the property to its original state which were in excess of £1500 adding that as the tenants bond was less than £700 that I would have to pursue the them through the small claims court for the remainder of the money.........I paid M&C to look after my property which they clearly havent done.......in reality it is them who I should be taking to small claims court as they have not provided me with the service I have paid them for over the years! As for the manager (Andrew?) I personally wouldnt pay him in washers - but as I undersrand his parents own the business, no doubt he will keep his job!... Read more

Absolute time wasters. I have been actively looking for a property to rent. Three weeks ago I contacted the agent, to book a viewing, agent called me back a week later to inform me viewing was cancelled, as the property was taken, I was a little disappointed but thought hey, I then showed an interest to another property, this time speaking to another agent, the agent booked me in, funny enough on the same day, I received an email from agent when I first called them, about another property, this one didn't quite catch my eye, but I agreed to view it, I was honest, informing them, it was not for me, after the viewing, I mentioned the property that I really liked, agent said you would really like this one, re-confirming the booking on 11/06/2020 at 16:45, on the day I tried to contact the office, to confirm the go ahead, no answer, I tried several times, then received a text at 16:20, second time round ''Your viewing for …….. has been cancelled as the property is no longer available. Thanks Dixons', it makes me wonder if they just pick and choose who they want as tenants,, cancelled on me twice, It would be good to see record, of how many people made an enquiry, date and time, I'm sure I was one of the first, where's the fairness in that, not even a viewing, again absolute time wasters!!... Literally the worst letting agent you could ask for. Having been there tenants for 4 years without causing them literally no issue, they were extremely devious during our check out. We had to move out only because we were leaving the country and gave over 4 months notice & paid reletting fees. They claimed if the apartment was clean during checkout the deposit would be refunded (2months rent FYI) even when we asked abt early termination. They refused to give us the deposit claiming it is loss of rent despite us paying reletting fees & flat was not advertised at all. they had secretly let the flat and wanted to keep the deposit too. Thankfully after raising the issue with DPS they provided us with the full refund. After staying in their property for 4 years this literally how they treat you... money mongers.... Read more

Justyn, Tom , Emma and Casey were all instrumental in helping us find our first home and they were extremely responsive and supportive all along the way. I am gutted to of not had the opportunity to meet all of the team in person due to Covid but from our correspondence over the phone they are really lovely people.
