8th May 2024 (1 year ago)Agent turned up one and a half hours late for property inspection, no phone call to inform me. When I called their office a women said she has asked the women coming to visit to call me but she didn't bother. When I challenged her she said she had not been asked to call me to say she was going to be late only when she has finished her inspection (who's telling the truth) RED FLAG. She also whined on about being in a meeting and that she had only been working there for a week or so NOT MY PROBLEM not interested in time wasters. I needed to contact my landlord to inform him of the poor service he is paying for and in then contacted PP. A long story short when the evidence was put to Simon Bacon the manager he had no choice but to apologise to my landlord but no apology to me for wasting my time. Always going to apologise to the landlord because he's paying him. VERY POOR appears there is no proper in house or external communication. Glad I'm only going to here for a short period of time.

Keys on moving in, the checks were really quick. We’ve been in the property for 2 years now and have a great relationship with them still.
19th Feb 2026 (10 weeks ago)I’ve just completed the sale of my mother’s flat, through Harvey’s in Mere Green. Charles was knowledgeable, professional and helpful. It was good to have someone that made the process so smooth, especially as I live a few hours away. I would definitely recommend.
2nd Jul 2025 (9 mo. ago)Absolutely the worse agents ive ever dealt with, no communication, no answers in 6 months not 1 job was rectified on the property, was told by Craig we were a priority yet still nothing was done. House was dirty gardens overgrown. Lorraine avoids any question given to her or avoids your calls. I would advise anyone to avoid this shambles of an estate agents if you the type of person who likes communication and results not empty promises. Also charged us for tidying the gardens on us leaving even though they were worse when we moved in and told to leave it as we found it. 6 months of stress caused. AVOID AVOID AVOID

Each property required refurbishment, and I had complete confidence in giving him full control—the results have been outstanding. I look forward to building a long, friendly, and professional relationship going forward.

8th Nov 2024 (1 year ago)We dealt with Matthew Irvine from day one, our first sale fell through so it was a drawn out transaction (5 months) but we found Matthew responsive and helpful throughout, we needed more detailed measurements of the house and although we were committed and would have bought the property in any case, Matthew provided us with a virtual tour which helped alot as we were only able to view once and were buying from Devon. Matthew was approachable and courtious and always responded to our requests for information, so I would say he did a pretty good job with this transaction which was quite stressful for us, we have now relocated and are enjoying our new surroundings :-)

1st Mar 2024 (2 years ago)Just finished our tenancy agreement after 2 years 3 months. The whole Preferential team have been fantastic but specially Emma K since I dealt with her from day one till the end of the tenancy, she is brilliant. to be fair they always fixed any fault in the property pretty quickly so thanks to Victoria for this. I did not deal much with the director Simon but he did some adjustments to my contract to be able to give the month notice from the day I exchanged contracts of the property I purchased so thanks for this. From our side we have kept the property always clean and taken care of it as if it was ours. I recommend Preferential.

17th Feb 2026 (10 weeks ago)We feel that the original advertising could have been better, the original photos didn't present the property as well as they could have. That being said, the market was slow at the start of the year, so its hard to separate the impact of advertising from wider market conditions. When we did start to question the advertising Andrew Downing-Booth came out to redo the photos himself, so we have no complaints about the quality or responsiveness of their customer service team. The office team are also great, they're easy to speak with and very quick at communicating between buyers and sellers.

He was always available to chat, never made us feel like a nuisance, and his advice was spot on every time. It’s rare to find an agent who is this invested in their clients. He and his lovely colleague Liz pushed our sale over the line when things got tough, and we are now happily settled in a home we love. We dealt with other estate agents in our buying process who left a lot to be desired to say the least and showed the vast gulf in class between local everyday operators and Eliza. 25th Jun 2025 (10 mo. ago)I had a completely unprofessional experience with John Shepherd Estate & Letting Agents regarding a rental property in the Gravelly Hill area. On June 23rd, I submitted a viewing request through Rightmove for a flat where I fully met all the pre-qualification criteria mentioned in their listing, including income, move-in date, and tenant profile. Since I received no response, I went in person to their office on June 24th. They confirmed that my request was in their system and told me I would be contacted later that day to arrange a viewing. That call never came. I followed up again by email on June 25th, which was also ignored. Meanwhile, I tried calling multiple times during working hours, but their phone line appears to be permanently down. It always plays a message saying no one is available, with no way to leave a voicemail. This is not only unprofessional, it makes them completely unreachable. To make matters worse, the listing was marked as "out of market" on June 25th without any notice or explanation. I was never informed if the property was let, withdrawn, or if I was being considered at all. No courtesy email, no update, nothing. I made every effort to follow their process, I showed genuine interest, I visited their office, followed up in writing and by phone, and I met all their listed requirements. In return, I received complete silence and zero transparency. This is not just poor service – it is a total lack of respect for applicants. If you are a prospective tenant, I strongly advise caution when dealing with this branch. My experience showed a complete breakdown in professionalism, communication, and basic standards of letting practice.

Always answered or returned calls and emails promptly even after sale was completed and chased other in the chain for answers. Would recommend and will use them again in the future.
