Avoid this estate agents like the plague. Me and my wife have been renting properties for 12 years without any hassles until we took our most recent tenancy out with Connells. Issues arose the moment we paid our deposit. It started with Connells wanting us to get pay our first months rent before we even moved in, apparently because they account for the 3 day bacs delay (not our problem), then when confronted about the issue we was told we was never asked to pay in advance and they doctored the date on the paperwork, however we have both lots of identical paperwork with different dates as proof. Then once we moved into the property we realised there was no TV signal throughout the property, after consulting James at Connells he said the landlord had agreed to pay a TV ariel engineer to see what the issue was but it would be easier if we contacted them as we knew when we would be available (all verified by email), so we did, and once sorted we presented the invoice for an ariel amplifier which was part of the the ariels integral system (according to the engineer) to Connells who then went on to say the landlord does not have to pay, which was in direct conflict of the first email. Now we find that Connells have also switched our energy suppliers without our consent to Spark Energy. We had already arranged British Gas to take care of our supply, how dare they, with no notification put a bill into our name. This is the worst agency we have ever dealt with. I honestly recommend that anyone reading this considers elsewhere first.
