my experience with this company is very disappointing, my wife and i like a property and we schedule a visit, when we arrived at the place it was not the property we had been interested in, so far so good, we think it was just a inconvenience but no. we called the agency and they told us that the property was no longer available, please do it more clearly. For the past 6 years I’ve had a lease for a commercial unit through CGP. The 6 year lease came to an end this year so after speaking with CGP a new 6 year agreement was discussed and then agreed, all very easy and swift. 6 weeks before the new lease date the estate agents withdrew the agreed offer for no apparent reason, leaving me vulnerable and potentially without a unit to work from. After discussions CGP left me with only one option, re-offering the unit at much higher rate than originally agreed. This meant I was either left out of pocket or without an office, time was not on my side! My initial experience through CGP was very good, however during the lease problems did arise so I contacted CGP to inform them and this is when I noticed cracks beginning to form. I felt unsupported and trapped within an agreement where I was being mistreated. I’m not usually a person to leave bad reviews but this experience has affected my business over the past few months, leaving me under pressure to relocate my business to another unit which was within my budget.... Staff were good on the phone initially but failed to attend on time and not at all on a couple of occasions , I’m quite sure they don’t speak to each other, information doesn’t get passed on effectively, they were inefficient and worse of all discussed my personal business with prospective buyer, failed to attend to view and the client began talking about the death of my son’ this woman was a stranger and I should never have been put in that position’ everything was last minute and not at all proficient .... too many mistakes and ‘ sorry’ was too often too late.. that need to do better’ selling thro’ them had been a horrid experience that I won’t easily forget... We have sold our house through a different estate agent, but have been dealing with Holland and Broadbridge when attempting to buy another house. We cannot fault Steve and his team at all. They have been contactable at all times, played the middle man for us in the best possible way, have maintained professionalism and positivity all through our experiences with them. Danielle, who showed us around the house we were intending to buy was so lovely, welcoming and warm. We really can not fault the whole Holland and broadbridge team at all (ESPECIALLY with the end result). Did not have a good experience with Holland Broadbridge. I very specifically ask for 24 hours notice before a viewing and requested not on a Sunday. Also asked to be contacted on my mobile only and yet this was not adhered to. Every time I spoke on the phone regarding my property, I felt I was not listened to and was actually spoken over. Did not feel much effort was put in to selling my home and only had two viewings in 5 months!!!! Not a lot of marketing seemed to be done and instead very quickly was approached about reducing the cost!!! I was actually warned by quite a few people not to go with these guys and I wish I had listened. Even now having told them to remove my property, they asked if they could go on as a second agent and said they had tried contacting me several times leaving messages but did not call the number I said to call on. In the end I found them quite rude and unprofessional. ... Read more

Starting from the first meeting Hilton Smythe were very clear and precise about the whole process. They were very easy to work with and very professional. All sales enquiries were handled promptly. All of the staff I dealt with were very knowledgeable and competent and explained in detail the steps that were taken at each stage of the proceedings. Any questions I had were answered immediately and in depth. Hilton Smythe ensured that all documentation I needed to handle was provided promptly by them and they clarified any aspects that were in any way complex. The solicitor they provided was excellent and instrumental in ensuring that other solicitors involved in the transaction also acted promptly. Under no circumstances sell your business with Hilton Smythe. We made the unfortunate decision to sign a six month contract with them back in February this year to sell our shop. A valuer visited us and told us that if we paid so much upfront, they'd be no more fee's to pay and if the shop wasn't sold within six months we could simply pull it off the market or go with someone else. It was originally marketed and valued at £50,000. Initially we had a lot of interest and a sale looked likely. Then lockdown happened three weeks into the shop being advertised and all went quiet until late July, early August. Barely anything from Hilton Smythe. This we had expected due to the circumstances. In the meantime, the shop has been open and trading extremely well. Then come early August, we start being messed around by the agent. Suddenly and without any warning another agent has taken over and is arranging viewings with people who are not properly vetted. We're let down at the last minute by people who don't show up. We then reduce the price of our business in an effort to sell quicker, even then the agents kept calling with offer's well below the new asking price and when we turned them all down, we were made to feel like we're the ones being unreasonable and as though we should just accept any offer. Low and behold, we have decided to take our business off the market. Our contract ran out on August 2nd, therefore we are now out of contract. But... Hilton Smythe have stated that we have to give them six weeks notice for them to take our business off the market and in this time, we must accept viewings else we are liable for a fee of almost £3,000! We only received an actual copy of our contract, the day we gave Hilton Smythe our notice, which was two days ago. Yesterday, emails were flying back and forth between Myself and the agency over yet another no show. Hilton Smythe have become bullies and will stoop to any depths. They're not on the sellers side, the very people paying them and they will send anyone, unvetted, to waste your time on the promise of a sale. No matter how hard you try to get out of it, they will use 'the contract' against you. Do expect a level of stress that will drive you to the brink of a nervous breakdown and if you have a decent business, expect it to be adversely affected by bogus buyers phoning them and then you being forced into showing such people around! I urge anyone thinking of selling a business, go elsewhere. I wish I had seen some of these reviews back in February.... Read more
