2nd Apr 2026 (5 weeks ago)(2-April-2026 update) I am very disappointed with the way Barnard Marcus has handled my deposit return. Despite repeatedly following up, they continue to respond with vague messages like “I am still currently liaising with your former landlord in regards to what they may potentially be looking to claim for to deduct from your deposit.” This has been going on for far too long, and it feels completely unprofessional. The checkout inventory report clearly stated there were no damages and I have hired professional end of tenancy cleaning, so there is no reason for the landlord to spend days “looking for” deductions. The agency should be enforcing a clear deadline for the landlord, not helping them delay payment. I expected transparent and timely communication, but instead, I have experienced avoidable delays and poor accountability. Very disappointing service. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ To future tenants, I wish you good luck and all the best coz you really needed it. People here just don't give a sh*t and don't care about delivering what they have promised. 1. I was only given the tenancy agreement 3 days before the tenancy start date, as I have mentioned multiple times that I need time to read the agreement and make payment and plan ahead for my moving, they only serve the landlord as the landlord is given a template and rights to modify any leasing terms 2 weeks ago, but I only got 3 days. And they insist that I need to start paying bills on the tenancy start day and not willing to postpone it even it is their fault to not send me the agreement earlier. Without any confirmation how am I suppose to make plans in moving? 2. They will not share the landlord's contact and saying I can contact them whenever I need help. However, whenever I needed them to ask landlord for confirmation, eg if it is ok to replace the traditional meter with smart meter, they will never help you and no reply. I tried to call and email, no response. Also I tried to ask them to confirm with landlord if water bill is also included, as the rent only stated hot water included. I tried to call Thames Water and got the reply is I cannot set up an account with them as the whole building was under 1 business account. I addressed this issue to Barnard Marcus Covent Garden and would would like to seek for a confirmation that I do not need to pay for water. What I got was, if you contacted Thames Water then I should take their advice. Come on! I need confirmation from you! not from Thames Water! There are many more little things that shows how irresponsible they are to Tenants, I hope this review can help anyone who is considering to rent from them. **When it comes to fixture maintenance, Hollie from the property maintenance team however did a great job, she replied my emails and follow up on the issues. I really appreciated her prompt response. PS. I will keep updating my frustrated experiences that I encounter with them.

The property was handed to us in a great condition. Ines and Sean have been really helpful in communication and checking in between us and the sellers. We are really happy with this purchase.

The property was not cleaned at all upon completion, communication throughout the process was consistently poor, and they failed to return important documents relating to the new energy supplier. Wikki, in particular, was extremely unhelpful. I would not recommend using this agency for a purchase of any kind.
24th Apr 2026 (11 days ago)I found a property to purchase being marketed by Chattertons Estate Agents. My initial viewing was hosted by Jen who was extremely welcoming, informative and helpful. After that, subsequent viewings were conducted by the fantastic branch manager, Doug Paterson. This sale/purchase was complicated by the fact that the elderly owner had gone into care and the sale being managed by her disabled son who was a long distance away. Doug had to act as liaison and there was absolutely nothing that was too much trouble for him, from recommending an excellent firm of solicitors who, with Doug’s input, were able to expedite the process to completion in 5 week, fantastic! There is no way I could praise the team at Chattertons, particularly Doug, any higher and have no hesitation in giving them the highest recommendation.
7th Apr 2026 (28 days ago)I would like to take a moment to recognise Sarah-Jane for the outstanding service she provided throughout our purchase. She was consistently cheerful, approachable, and always had a smile on her face. She kept us fully informed at every stage of the process and was extremely flexible when arranging viewing times, which we really appreciated. What stood out the most was Sarah-Jane allowing us access to the property prior to moving in so that we could give it a thorough clean. This meant a great deal to us, especially as we have young children, and being able to prepare the home in advance was incredibly important. Every time we met Sarah-Jane in person, she was warm, friendly, and genuinely committed to providing excellent service. Overall, Beresford were a very easy and flexible agent to work with, and the experience was made even better by Sarah-Jane’s professionalism and positive attitude.

Through the process of viewing properties I've met a good few estate agents and I have to say David at Truepenny's came across as the most honest and straightforward. No estate agent script or nonsense, no opening of cupboard doors and saying "look you've got a cupboard" (I've seriously had that before) and most importantly, no BS. I also thought the staff at Truepenny's went the extra mile, having seen the property online over the weekend I called the office on a Monday morning and they did a viewing the same day. And finally I was flying by a wing and a prayer at times to get everything across the line and I appreciated David's patience in all of that. I can highly recommend Truepenny's and would certainly use them if I was to sell or rent out my home in the future.

14th Apr 2026 (21 days ago)We haven't had to go through the nightmare of moving house for over forty years but we survived the emotional roller coaster this time round thanks to Stanton Hockett. Not easy for two eighty year olds I must admit who simply want to go live near their daughter up north! We approached the move with trepidation but their approach from the outset was totally re-assuring and empathetic. Tom started the ball rolling with his no fuss approach and we then graduated to the big guns, Brad & Gavin, after they found us a young couple to buy our treasured family home. They might have been a dating agency so suited to us were our young buyers. As apparently often occurs our journey through the legal processes to exchange and completion took us between peaks of elation to valleys of frustrated despair and back again but they were there to support us when we needed it. Thank you Tom and Lewis, thank you Gavin and most of all thank you Brad for your impeccable service to us in the sales progression stage. We are on our way now and feeling a whole lot better about our future.
18th Apr 2026 (17 days ago)Unprofessional, unethical, and publicly mocks clients. I strongly advise avoiding Alexander Rose Estates. Our experience was a nightmare: Financial Pressure: They pressured us to accept a lower offer for their own convenience, disregarding our best interests as sellers. Incompetence: They failed to track essential legal documents and met our concerns with "Be optimistic" instead of professional solutions. Public Mockery: Look at their response to our previous feedback. The owner literally bragged about "celebrating" and "partying" while we suffered from their poor conduct. Using a smirking emoji to ridicule a client’s genuine grievance is the height of arrogance. If you value your money and mental health, do not trust this agency. They don't care about your home; they only care about their commission and mocking you if you complain.

Shanique took the time to truly understand our needs and, impressively, came up with feasible and well-matched options in a very short time. This made the entire experience not only efficient but genuinely enjoyable. What stood out most was how relaxed and comfortable the whole viewing process felt. Shanique wasn’t just showing us properties — she gave us a comprehensive understanding of the surrounding area as well. She thoughtfully introduced us to nearby facilities such as gyms, swimming pools, and other local amenities that are essential for our future lifestyle. Her attention to detail and local knowledge were outstanding and incredibly helpful. Overall, we felt very well taken care of and thoroughly impressed by her service.
