In October 2016, my landlord decided to switch agents and opted to go with Scriven & Co and I can honestly say what a massive difference they have made! Previously I was used to long delays for any home repair work and to get a response from my letting agents, it would usually take a few weeks. But since Scriven & Co have taken over, they are prompt, professional and couldn’t be more helpful. Charles Scriven from Scriven & Co has been absolutely fantastic! He has been so helpful and honest with his advice, recommendations and helped me every step of the way! I was so impressed with the service that I have just signed a new contract with Scriven & Co as I know they will look after me and I will get an excellent service. To anyone thinking of buying or renting a property in the West Midlands, I highly recommend Scriven & Co who have been outstanding agents.... Read more

Scrivens and co and there landlord team are just another prime example of discrimination to cause stereotypes. I am not going to look all guns blazing and play in with there tactics however I am appalled at how I have been treated by them. Me and my partner who are both in good jobs and who both earn over the threshold to not need a guarantor, applied for a property to be told we will hear back within 3 days. 3 days came and 3 days passed. In fact 3 weeks passed! I called and was told I would be called back numerous times and never was. I then noticed that they had updated new photos on the website for the property and took off the phrase "ready middle of october" stating it was ready now. In the end I was getting sick of waiting so I arranged for my mother to call and good job she did as they were more than happy to speak to her! Guess what it all to boiled down to... the fact that I am 19 and my partner is 21! Guess they wouldn't mind speaking to my mother as she's older!!!! I'm not being funny but they obviously put it down to stereotype of younger people. Now I want to know how do you expect to not get these stereotypes when no one is giving us opportunity. Everyone, and by the looks of it people at scrivens think oh young people live in high rise flats, council houses don't pay bills etc. Why don't you let your landlords meet us and give us a chance?? I would have been happier if you'd have at least kept me in the loop instead of excuse after excuse when it was all because of my age. Thanks for nothing apart from a confidence knock scrivens!... I have to share my experience of instructing Dixons to sell my home. Sheerie at Dixons Bearwood has been FANTASTIC! Right from the start she has acted with such high professionalism and her straightforward and honesty has enabled the sale of my home to progress successfully. Communication has been effective and emails and calls have always been returned promptly. Sheerie has been brilliant and I have no hesitation in instructing Dixons Bearwood again in the future and have already recommended friends and colleagues... Thank you so very much Sheerie!... I almost never write a review online, but this deserves it... We found a property we liked. An agent - Jimmy (??) - was not very helpful in showing the place ("this is a living room"; "idk, I need to check"), but fortunately there were owners around to ask more specific questions. The agent was very pushy on a few occasions. He said that they have one offer on the table already and we need to make a decision today, but the owners had no idea about it. The owners told us, we are dream tenants for any landlord (great references, good jobs, handyman skills, planning to rent for a few years). Clearly, they liked us very much... Despite unprofessional agent, we liked the property and the owners (there were going to manage the property, not Dixons), so we go down to the Dixons' office (BTW: dirty and with crisps on the floor) to put down the application. The agent could not even give us a ride because of insurance reasons (true? maybe...). But we stayed there only about a minute when Jimmy (??) asked for £500 (!!!) fee, including £250 was for holding down the property (what ?). For us it is called a steal! We left offended. Just FYI, fees around £250 are something normal, but not twice of that!!!... Read more

Would give 0 stars if I could due to terrible service. Rented out our property with them and paid for their so called 'gold service' because we were living a distance away so needed to have them keep regular checks on property and notify to any damages/changes to property. We visited the property after most tenants had moved out and found the property to be absolutely filthy, garden over grown, damages to most rooms and furniture we had left for tenants to use were basically stolen. We allowed one tenant to have a dog but on the condition the carpets were cleaned professionally and any damages caused by pet to be fixed yet the house smelt like dog mess, there was bags of dog waste left in garden (piles of the stuff!) and the kitchen cupboards had been chewed. Disgusted that we did not get ANY of the deposit back from this and most of the tenants in their care that did not keep the house in the same condition. Shocking and would really not trust them to look after a property especially when you are not close to check on the property yourself.... Read more

I dealt with Sami at MECS, from the start I felt that he actually cared, he asked questions and waited for answers, he knew in-depth information about each property that we viewed. He showed me a number of properties. Although I didn't find the right one I will surely begin my search with MECS next time. If I had a property to sell or rent I would definitely use MECS. Very professional, friendly and honest. Exactly how you would want your house to be showed.... Read more

Bad customer service and rude. I let out a house with mecs . The tenants complained that Sami was very aggressive when asking them if paperwork had been signed and when deposit would be paid. I had to wait weeks for my copy of the tenancy agreement. Mecs managed the property for me. I had to keep asking Sami when the rent would be paid into my account each month to remind him. Very unprofessional.... Read more

EXCELLENT SERVICE FROM START TO COMPLETION Selling a business in these unprecedented times was always going to be a challenge but this was finally achieved on the 1st March 2021 when I handed the keys to the purchaser and new owner of the business. I would like to thank Hilton Smythe for their continued support and perseverance during the sale period and in particular I would like to convey my personal thanks to Karen and Alice for all of their help and assistance in pushing the sale through, they handled the sale with the utmost of professionalism and dedication keeping me informed at every stage of the process. Under no circumstances sell your business with Hilton Smythe. We made the unfortunate decision to sign a six month contract with them back in February this year to sell our shop. A valuer visited us and told us that if we paid so much upfront, they'd be no more fee's to pay and if the shop wasn't sold within six months we could simply pull it off the market or go with someone else. It was originally marketed and valued at £50,000. Initially we had a lot of interest and a sale looked likely. Then lockdown happened three weeks into the shop being advertised and all went quiet until late July, early August. Barely anything from Hilton Smythe. This we had expected due to the circumstances. In the meantime, the shop has been open and trading extremely well. Then come early August, we start being messed around by the agent. Suddenly and without any warning another agent has taken over and is arranging viewings with people who are not properly vetted. We're let down at the last minute by people who don't show up. We then reduce the price of our business in an effort to sell quicker, even then the agents kept calling with offer's well below the new asking price and when we turned them all down, we were made to feel like we're the ones being unreasonable and as though we should just accept any offer. Low and behold, we have decided to take our business off the market. Our contract ran out on August 2nd, therefore we are now out of contract. But... Hilton Smythe have stated that we have to give them six weeks notice for them to take our business off the market and in this time, we must accept viewings else we are liable for a fee of almost £3,000! We only received an actual copy of our contract, the day we gave Hilton Smythe our notice, which was two days ago. Yesterday, emails were flying back and forth between Myself and the agency over yet another no show. Hilton Smythe have become bullies and will stoop to any depths. They're not on the sellers side, the very people paying them and they will send anyone, unvetted, to waste your time on the promise of a sale. No matter how hard you try to get out of it, they will use 'the contract' against you. Do expect a level of stress that will drive you to the brink of a nervous breakdown and if you have a decent business, expect it to be adversely affected by bogus buyers phoning them and then you being forced into showing such people around! I urge anyone thinking of selling a business, go elsewhere. I wish I had seen some of these reviews back in February.... Read more
