Initial impression was very good. We were led to believe the market was good and to give it a go at the higher end of the valuation. We were promised a premium marketing plan with professional photos and description which would justify the premium price valuation for the area. We agreed to wait 3 weeks to launch on Boxing Day being led to believe there would be several enquiries and viewing requests to hold an open house event in January.
Despite having 3 weeks to prepare the marketing materials the standard was far below expectations. The photographs were poor the description omitted several of the unique selling features of our house .
We were presented with the brochure the day before the deadline for the Boxing Day launch and requested several initial amendments to the description but we could not alter the photographs so I was forced to take some photos myself to be included. Following a subsequent complaint we were told that if we’re not satisfied with the marketing we were at liberty to suggest changes with no acknowledgement of the short timescale and the extremely poor standard of the initial marketing. I was later told by the sales manager that the photographs and description are not that important anyway !!!
We were told that the agents would be ringing around purchasers on their books to generate interest. When we had no interest generated and asked what they had done we never received a full answer which would match what had been promised.
We began to hear stories of WH Brown not getting back to potential purchasers when leaving answer phone messages and suspect ( though cannot be proven ) that this happened to us . We believe this because in a four month period an almost identical property had 7 viewings when we only had 1.
When we stopped contacting the branch we heard nothing from them for a whole month at which point we submitted a formal complaint.
In our experience this agency did the very minimum to sell our house. The initial confidence led us to sign a sole agency agreement which now means that if we sell to one of 3 clients they claim they introduced ( highly unlikely but not the point) They will persue a claim for 3% fee . Be very wary of signing such a contract.

The service from the start was excellent, as was house viewings. Then the sale.
My only comment is that after I sold my house, they were very slow on communication and it always seemed like u were leaving a message on a phone.
It could be that they were very busy.

I thought the staff at William H Brown were very professional from the time I was shown the house until I moved it.
Local knowledge was fantastic.

Hi, my names Emilee and I just wanted to express my gratitude for the excellent customer service I received from Kelcie Winterburn! She was very professional, but down to earth in a way that made me feel comfortable and welcomed! Kelcie was extremely helpful throughout the entire process of me applying for a property and delivered every answer for a question I had, with a smile! As I am sure most people know, moving can be a very stressful time, but I can most certainly say Kelcie made the experience a lot less scary! Many thanks for all the help and assisting me in my many questions, I greatly appreciate it!

We recently used w h brown Harrogate to sell a relatives property and I have to say that the service was very good in general. We had been on the market with 2 other agents in Harrogate prior to browns dealing with the sale and had not had a great experience with either agent! So I was very specific in the service I wanted when instructing browns…. initially I dealt with the previous manager who was excellent but left the company prior to us agreeing a sale ….the new manager however Claire introduced herself and then handled the property negotiations at offer stage and chased the sale up, we completed approximately 9 weeks after agreeing the sale, she provided an excellent service.I was a manager of an estate agents for 25 years so know what makes a good agent and I can honestly recommend W H Brown Harrogate if you are looking to sell in the Harrogate area. From the moment becca walked through the door of my house I knew that she was the one to sell it for me.
Becca was friendly, open and honest and told me everything that I needed to know and do to get the best possible price.
I would use William h brown Hatfield again if I ever move as they are a great bunch of people, very helpful and always willing to help.

Poor service from Karen, had an offer accepted with a seller and she put the house back on the market cause I was on holiday and I only spoke to her once in the week, in which I explained I was on holiday and would move forward when I returned. Will not be dealing with this estate agent again. Waste of time and effort.

Had a really disappointing experience today with William H Brown in Headingley. Yesterday, my partner and I rang about a flat that we both absolutely loved the look of , situated in the city centre. The lady that we spoke to yesterday was friendly and helpful and booked us in to view the flat this afternoon at 14:40. She emphasised that this would be provisionally booked as they had not been able to get in touch with the current tenants; which we completely understood. It reached dinner time today and we had not had any form of communication from William H Brown so presumed that our viewing was still to go ahead. My partner rang and a different lady from the one we spoke to yesterday answered. She said that they had not been able to get in touch with the current tenants again; which again we completely understand that this is out of the control of William H Brown. However, the lady proceeded to say that if we did not hear from William H Brown later in the day to presume that the viewing would not be going ahead. The problem we have with this is that firstly a call from William H Brown would have been appreciated to let us know that they were unsure whether the viewing would go ahead earlier in the day as if we would not have called William H Brown ourselves we would have gone to the viewing assuming it was still going ahead. There was no appreciation of William H Brown of how long it would take us to get to the flat we were going to view from our current address; the assumption was just that we lived not far from the city centre. Basically, we have just been sat in limbo waiting to see whether our viewing was still going to go ahead. Luckily, we are both teachers and it is half term otherwise we would not have had the luxury to sit waiting around all day!! Finally, a call to say that they would arrange another viewing would have been appreciated. This has left us feeling not valued and not wanting to view any further flats with William H Brown. Very poor communication and frankly a waste of our time!
