Our house sale fell apart when our buyer dropped out quite late on in the process. DavidLee were so quick to respond on the day it happened and got viewings booked in that very day to get us back on track. Incredible response from them which inevitably led to us getting a buyer again very quickly. Their communication was excellent throughout the whole process, never ignoring calls and always phoning back when they said they would. They were great at chasing up everyone along the chain to ensure it all went to plan and were great at nudging the solicitors when needed. We dealt with Samantha throughout the whole thing. From the first moment she came to value our house she stood out from all the other agents who came to value. She came well prepared and made us feel like we were her only customers throughout the whole process. I couldn't recommend DavidLee highly enough.... Read more

Very poor experience from day 1 of our tenancy managed by Cheffins. Issues such as not informing us when a boiler inspection was happening and getting home to find someone had been in our home without us knowing. They didn't inform us when the check out at the end of the tenancy was happening nor were they were bothered about finding out. Glad to not have to deal with them again and when the time comes to buy I won't be going near them.... Read more

Awful. Have complained about the rudeness of the letting agents at Ely. We had no heating or hot water several times (at least 20 days) during our tenancy. When we complained they state that they acted promptly each time we reported the same fault. I would give no stars were it possible. It also took an excessive amount of time (10 days more than the government stated 10 days) to receive our £1650 deposit back despite there being no problems with our handover. Try elsewhere!... My Wife and I recently bought a house through Abbotts Ely and from start to finish we couldn’t have had a more stressful and exasperating experience. I’ve read quite a few reviews and most have said “excellent service, treated like a valued customer, great communication” but unfortunately our experience was as far from these statements as possible. David started our house purchase journey with lack of communication, ignoring our emails and questions and we grew very tired of having to ask the same questions on several occasions to bet met with yet more lack of response. Our vendor’s situation was not the most simple, however, on several occasions we were promised a weekly update on the situation and yet again no response from Abbotts Ely was received. To that end we complained and Pat took over our purchase. I thought this would be a good move and having the “Area Manager” on the case would make sure we were moving forward. Again we were promised a weekly update, accompanied by the promise of pushing the purchase through as quickly as possible but we were hit with false promises and lies on numerous occasions yet again! Admittedly the recent COVID-19 pandemic did slow things down a little and this was completely understandable, however, when we were promised an update from the “Area Manager” after he had spoken to the Company Directors on how best to move this purchase forward we still had to chase several times with emails just to be told they were pushing for the purchase to go through as quickly as possible. We had to chase absolutely every request time and time again just to simply get nowhere. Then came moving day, we had some issues with the other parties time keeping, to which we informed Abbotts who did absolutely nothing to try and move the situation forward resulting in my Wife and Dad having to complain face to face at the Ely office. They were confronted with a member of staff best described as a “wet drip of a bloke” who didn’t know what to do or indeed understand our situation. For a business that relies on the general public for their existence, they showed complete disregard for communication and professional working practices. We were promised weekly updates; that didn’t happen. We asked for situation reports; nobody ever got back to us without us having to chase several times to be told “we’ll find out and get back to you” starting this merry-go-round of trying to get someone to answer emails and return our calls. I can see so many reviews which state how well all of these principles were done in other peoples purchases, however, our experiences with Abbotts Ely was a complete nightmare and littered with incompetence and lies, both of which we didn’t expect from reading the reviews before we started our process. In short, I firmly believe this to be one of the worst customer service experiences we have ever had.... Read more

I can’t warn you off Hockeys strongly enough. They will screw over both the seller and the buyer so they can try to keep their dirty, grasping little hands on as much of their commission as they can. If you have to buy a house through these racketeers, you have my deepest condolences. Make sure that you contact the sellers directly and copy them in to any communications. This way, the Hockeys conmen haven’t got the power to play you off against the seller. And make sure that you have everything in writing so you have a paper trail when you need to report Hockeys to the Property Ombudsman. If you have to sell a house, Hockeys should be your absolute last choice. They will not act in your best interests. Initially try any of the online-based services (cut out these useless middlemen), and then use literally anyone else. If you’re thinking about Hockeys, it’s probably best not to sell your house at all.... Read more
