Abbotts Cambridge have been managing my properties for some time now and I have found Jessica in particular to be very helpful and efficient when any problems have arisen. They are also very thorough with vetting prospective tenants and doing inventories. I would have no hesitation in recommending their landlord services.... Read more

Unprofessional and unfriendly service, tenants and landlords beware! High fees for doing absolutely nothing. They only call when they want the tenant to agree to something, are very rude and bully you into agreement, but ignore any requests going the other way. No information when moving out. Could NOT GET DEPOSIT back and no response to my email asking about the deposit for 3 weeks. Repeatedly had to call their deposits branch in Norwich, who always told me they would call me back but never did. Finally had to go through MyDeposits and adjudication to get my deposit back (3.5 months after moving out!!!). And yes, I understand it's the landlord who has to release the deposit, but you guys clearly don't bother to chase the landlord about it or email to explain the situation AT ANY POINT IN TIME. Watch out as they put the deposit into a scheme that's only insured (landlord actually keeps the money), which creates an incentive for the landlord to hold on to the deposit and have the tenant have to claim it back through adjudication!!!! In my adjudication, the landlord didn't even bother to present any response, they were clearly just trying to hold on to the money as long as they could! That's Countrywide for you - they charge you the maximum (also if you want a reference for having paid rent on time!) but do the minimum.... Read more

We gave them the keys to our property to let in June. Despite a number of attempts to contact the agent. He never returned my or my partners call. Claiming they were extremely busy during covid. Lost at least 2-3 months of rent on a property. When we finally decided to call it a day and requested our key back. The agent called back in 5 mins total fake and unprofessional. Avoid!... Read more

Had this estate agent around about selling my house, they came and I gave my card details and was told the £135.00 for the marketing pack would not come out until the photos were planned. I then decided two days later to not go on the market with them as I wanted to stay with my current estate agents. To my annoyance the £135.00 had already been taken from my bank and that was at least 4 days before the photos were planned. That was two weeks ago and I am still waiting for my refund. I have called the Ely branch at least 9 times and no one has ever called me back with an update. I am still waiting for my money and have now logged an official complaint. W H Brown customer services even called me yesterday to ask why I was not selling with them I told the lady of my refund issue and she said she would look into it and come back to me and guess what no one called! I have been told by Ely branch that my refund has been fast tracked at last twice in last week and half and I am still waiting. How can they take my money on the wrong day and so quickly but take so long to give it back, during these times money is needed and I just want my money back. I am very unimpressed and would definitely not recommend W H Brown Ely Branch. I did inform them that I would be writing this review to warn others and nothing was done about that either.... In a hurry I decide to rent a house from Tucker Gardner. This is the first time I am giving a negative review to an agency. These are the following unpleasant experiences I had with Tucker Gardner: Initially, I tried to discuss the need for the extra insurance which I wanted to be dropped. In response I was told multiple times firmly that it is necessary and non-negotiable, so I bought the insurance. However, during the signing contract or at any time of our tenancy, no one asked me about the insurance. On the first day I was not given the full set of 2 keys for me and my partner. "Locking just one lock is safe enough", I was told. Missing key is one thing, such comments are always making me happy when you pay so much for an agency. Despite the large costs charged by the agency, I moved into a house which was far from being ready to be rented. All chests of drawers were falling apart. You could see that someone tried to glue the parts together before. 80% the chests just fall apart the moment we touched them. Then, the only lock for which we had 2 keys in the door was not working correctly. It was bend slightly which prevented the door from being closed. You had to slam the door in order to get them 'tick'. Of course, this slamming was further bending the lock... While getting the contract, some of our questions were replied to with rude comments. This never happened to us before. At the end of the tenancy, we were told that there were 2 things which were not professionally descaled - which was fair. However, for this descailing they charged us over £90?! Even though it was just a tiny bit of the kitchen sink and the bathroom sink. Very unpleasant and nasty way of doing business. We were told that we also left a burn mark on the floor, to which we promptly replied that none of us smoked and everything was electrical. We were 100% sure that it was not our doing. As a reply we received a rude message with a picture "to jog our memory". At the end, they found older pictures and admitted that it was not us. However, the way the accusations were thrown at us was simply rude. ... Read more

Vincent & Shaw have been supportive and helpful in our property and land purchase in Cambridge. They have helped us to liaise with our vendor on a complicated purchase and for which we are very grateful. Our purchase may have taken probably the longest in their history of almost 17 months but their open and can-do attitude kept us on track to ensure the deal was completed efficiently. Thank you for your friendly service and we probably did speak to each other more than we did our families on some weeks.... Read more

I`ve rented a flat for one year from this agency. In one year, the toilet was blocked for more than a month, the cooker and the washing machine broke down. The flat was leased with a kitchen window broken (could not be open), and with very old furniture. We paid 300 pounds for references, 1000 pounds deposit and, at the end of the contract we were proposed to receive 300 pounds from the deposit because the agency called three different companies to unblock the toilet without even asking us. Christianne Typler, the residential manager encouraged my partner to pee in the bath every time we were phoning to highlight this issue. One of the agents, Alberto who came to show the flat to future customers barely knows english....Very, very disappointed and I would not recommend anyone to use their services.... Read more

Farcically expensive. For two people to move into a flat costs £500. Therefore, you would hope for the absolute highest quality of service from Belvoir. Instead, when showing us the flat, the agent arrived unable to get into the property as they didn’t actually have a key; we were therefore left to wait four and a half hours while they sorted this. In the meantime, having been told in the first place that they operated a first come first serve basis and that, being the first to view the property, we would be able to take it off the market simply by paying the holding deposit (we checked this fact clearly on the phone), they then announced that this was not how they operated at all. Instead, all the people who had viewings that day were able to provide their details in order for the landlord to decide on the most suitable applicant. As we were becoming by the stage fairly desperate to secure a property, this muddle made the whole process considerably more stressful than necessary. Anyway, by signing a document that looked to have been proof-read by an 8 year old with a short attention span, we secured the property. Then, upon moving in, we found that we had not been provided with enough sets of keys (1 instead of 2 for a 2 bed flat) despite the fact that they had known for several weeks that two people would be living there. Notifying them of this, we were told to bring a receipt for getting a new set of keys cut to the office and we would be refunded. Having done this, we were told this was not in fact the way it worked. Overall we are happy with the property, and when the agent has the property want you don’t have much choice, but Belvoir are definitely not worth the £500 they charge.... Read more
