After my brief encounter with Madeline Cundy (Maddie) I think it is not surprising as to why estate agents so frequently have a bad name. Not only did she cancel the viewing I had made 4 days prior, 10 minutes after I had arrived in the branch; she proceeded to mispronounce my name twice - despite being corrected. The blank expression on her face and monotonous tone of her voice during her very unenthusiastic apology made this even worse. She explained that she had tried to call me the day before to cancel, but had called the wrong number; good practice would have been of course to follow this up with an email and or text, which I received none of. When I had originally spoken to her on the phone after she received my rightmove enquiry, she ignored my questions which were listed and then seemed baffled and annoyed when I asked her to answer them again. She also mentioned she would like to take me on a tour of various properties Foxtons had to offer in the area, the details of which she was going to send me through that afternoon, which I never received. All in all, I think anyone reading this can agree that this is appalling customer service and I would hope that buyers and vendors alike would think twice about using Foxtons or Maddie.... Read more

We have lived in 4 countries and rented several properties over the years. Natalie Dordoy has been, by far, the most efficient, effective and responsive property manager we’ve encountered. If we email or call her with a question, issue or concern, her response is nearly immediate. I have never had to check whether or not Natalie has called the landlord, repairman, painter, etc. because we trust that she has done what she said she would. We also find it very reassuring that Natalie calls or emails after a job has been completed in the house. Not only is Knight Frank lucky to have such a knowledgeable, dedicated employee, but the owner of the home we rent is very lucky too. Natalie ensures that everything in the house is running smoothly and that both the owner and tenants are well cared for.... Read more

Beware and avoid at all costs or say bye to your deposit and nerves! These people are systematically there to rip off tenants during and after tenancy. Smiley and friendly Vinoath (who is the only professional person) will be quick and efficient in finding you a flat and getting the move in done. Then the nightmare starts with Natalie and Joanne, who will do anything to blame the customer as opposed to help. The worst is the check-out when Pritesh and team will do anything to get your money/deposit. The company representative told us that rarely do they such a flat in such tidy and clean condition returned as we did. And 3 weeks later we receive a request by Pritesh to pay 400 GBP for 'hooks' on the wall that had been there at move in and a mosquito found in a sink etc after us having done general cleaning. I have copied below the original "deduction sheet" below so you see 1st hand how they work. When asked for invoices for the work done for the 'deductions' they can't present anything, but instead of ever admitting faults on their side will go into e-mail ping pongs with you and your only way out with them is to sue them which we will do ! Good luck to anyone dealing with them! This is a rating for the letting and management service. Lettings service is fine, they found tenants in a reasonable amount of time and getting contracts signed was straightforward. I would give lettings 4/5. However the property management service is incredibly poor and unprofessional given the 'prestige' of the Hamptons brand. I used this service for my rental property for two years and experienced a number of problems - simple maintenance issues taking multiple visits to resolve, contractors being poorly briefed, double or incorrect charges and unnecessary work being performed. Dealing with the service was painful for both myself and the tenants. I've now switched to an independent property management company and am getting a much more professional service. Moral of the story - avoid at all costs!... Read more

We consulted five estate agents about selling our property. Jamie at KFH stood out as being the one who didn't just focus on selling the service but strongly advised us to get the house on the market ASAP, given that school holidays were swiftly approaching. We appreciated being given that advice. Although the valuation was lower than that recommended by the other agents, Jamie's pricing strategy proved to be sound. We had an offer within 24 hours and a second two days later. Harry took over with the sale process and phoned each week to check/update on progress. "Ripping off optimized" is the opinion we ended with regarding James Anderson estate agents. We have rented in England for 11+ years, in and out of London. The one year spent in a flat managed by James Anderson was remarkably a worse experience. Hence this review. Summarizing some highlights: · About two days prior moving into the flat, James Anderson tried to change the agreed to terms of the tenancy and increase the rent! We were obviously vacating the previous place and had nowhere to go. It was extortion. · The rented flat was in fifth floor of Deanhill court in East Sheen and accessed via a lift. The lift started breaking down frequently, which meant we had to use the service access stairs on a regular basis. These stairs are outside the building and was not safe for our kid. We asked to move out of flat before the end of the tenancy period. But James Anderson held us to the full term. We agree that was the contract. But our opinion that James Anderson could have been more considerate. · When it came to advertising the flat at the end of our tenancy, they advertised using outdated photos (more than two years old) and information (e.g. claiming the oven used daily for a year as new). A James Anderson representative stated advertising with such outdated photos is not legal but a “grey” area. · It took James Anderson more than seven weeks to return the undisputed amount of the tenancy deposit! · Our opinion that James Anderson made unfair claims on the tenancy deposit. This lead to a disputed claim which was later handled via a dispute resolution service. · The produced checkout inventory was clearly doctored. This was obvious as it contained photos taken at a much later date from the end of the tenancy! Apart from comments stated as opinions, other statements above are in our email conversations with James Anderson and their advertisements.
