19th Nov 2025 (20 days ago)Avoid this agency! Never again! I'll outline why I consider this agency incompetent and not worth recommending. I'll start chronologically. 1. The agency is lying. Before renting, I was told the mess was due to renovations. It turned out the agency doesn't deal with tenants well. I had to ask Colchester Council for help. 2. The agency tried to charge me for rubbish removal that was there before I moved in. 3. The flush tank leaked all day for over a month. The water consumption was exorbitant. 4. They tried to charge me for cleaning the room after I moved out. The agency loses again. This is a highly incompetent agency. As for the security deposit, that's the least of my worries. You forced me to live in a filthy house where no one cared about cleanliness, especially your agency. I hope people think twice before using your services!

They were extremely attentive throughout the process and always answered my calls and questions quickly, and did their best to help us get what we wanted. We dealt with Steve, who was always very friendly, helpful and even (very) occasionally funny.

Jay and David, supported by Fiona, were exceptional throughout what turned out to be quite a complex move due to the nature of the freehold and provided many challenges for the buyer and seller. They provided clear guidance, found solutions to every challenge, and supported me at every step of the process. 2nd Dec 2025 (7 days ago)HOME did a wonderful job finding us a buyer at asking price, in under 2 weeks from the advert going live. We were on with a different agent previously, they came in with a revised plan of how to market, and found quality potential buyers from the get go. The quick turnaround enabled us to get an offer accepted on our ideal house. We were in competition with a few parties, all of whom needed to sell there own property first, HOME'S effectiveness is the reason we were able to get our future home. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone, and wouldn't hesitate to use again in future.

5th Dec 2025 (4 days ago)We had a great experience as a seller using Douglas Allen in Billericay and would choose them again if we were ever selling a home in the area. After the first sale fell through, Oscar more than earned his commission with the number of viewings he conducted on our behalf. He was informative, friendly and polite without being pushy. He remembered all of the points we wanted him to touch on about our property and had a really easy and charming manner with the viewers. Estate agents have quite a bad reputation, some of the deservedly so! But Oscar, Brad, Katie, and Ryan have very much changed our perception of agents in general and it was a pleasure dealing with them. If you are selling a property in the Billericay area call Douglas Allen and ask for Oscar!

She’s been amazing the whole time , so friendly , informative and always so helpful with any questions we’ve had. So glad we had her as part of the process.- 19th Nov 2025 (20 days ago)I would like to make a positive observation about a member of staff at the Brentwood branch. I recently had a tenant with an issue within my property, which i was not able to attend as i do not live locally. Whilst awaiting a contractor, Elle from the local branch was the first person who was able to get to my property and assist the tenant with a burst tap which was extensively flooding our flat. Elle went above and beyond in assisting the tenant, and also contacted some of her family members to assist in cutting off the water, as the contractor was a few hours in attending. Between Elle and the others, they managed to contain the situation until the contractor arrived. I would like to pass on my thanks to Elle, as i know she is solely responsible for the Lettings department in Brentwood, and is very busy, and I am thankful for her help with a stressful matter, and liaising with both myself and the tenant. Thank you.

30th Sep 2025 (10 weeks ago)I truly couldn’t recommend Nick & Holly enough, we had our house on the market for 10 weeks with another agent after a recommendation form somebody, although we had used Patrick James to buy our house before by week two of being with the other agents we were kicking ourselves by not going back with them straight from the off! After being in contact we decided Patrick James were the only way forward and low and behold our house was sold within a week of it being on the market with them, through their own hard work of caring and making the effort to sell for us. They are always there when you need them especially in the nervy few days before exchange. They truly are a very well run small business and very lovely couple to go with it. Keep at it guys, honestly as we have said before we are very grateful, and would recommend you a million times over.

I was super impressed by the efficiency of their booking system for viewings and the lie communication has been brilliant. Sold my house quickly and couldn’t be happier with their service.

His communication was outstanding—reliable, clear, and proactive at every stage. Even when delays and issues arose with the buyers’ solicitors, he never let things stall. He kept following up, pushing for progress, and making sure our interests were always protected. I genuinely think without Dan’s proactive involvement, the legal process would have dragged for months. His dedication, professionalism, and commitment made a stressful process far smoother, and we’re genuinely grateful for the effort he put in. Selling my rental property was a heavy weight , but Tom and Harvey looked after my well being from start to finish and after . They were brilliant , they went above and beyond and gave me all the support , understanding , patience and kindness , I don’t know what else to say . I am truly grateful to them and the solicitor they recommended Sharon . I have worked in customer care all my life and there’s not many now adays that go that extra mile but these truly did and cannot thank them enough . I would recommend Tom Ashwood & Co over and over.
