We felt respected and well cared for throughout the entire process. Richard is very gentlemanly and works with integrity. Unlike other estate agents, there was absolutely no shady business, price hiking, or pressure from him. He was always quick to respond to our emails, kept us in the loop, and was honest and efficient. His professionalism and experience really stood out in an industry where these qualities are often lacking. Richard has a talent for closing deals and he has excellent knowledge about his job. 1st Jul 2024 (26 days ago)The whole team at Allen and Harris have been absolutely fantastic. Mark valued our house and was very open and honest with me about it, showing exactly where his figures were coming from which I really appreciated. I then felt totally looked after by the whole team as we went to sell with communication being on point. Knowing that they were actively perusing sales, not just waiting for viewings was a great experience that led to a really high uptake in initial viewings very shortly after going to market, and an offering being accepted within a week. While we've dealt with lots of people at the branch, every single one of them has been friendly, welcoming, authentically personable and professional, so I knew we were in safe hands. Even going into the office it felt like we were being welcomed into a family. The ease of doing everything through Allen and Harris/Sequence was invaluable as well and we're so grateful for their help in setting everything up. A massive thank you to Mark, James, Sophie, Leah, and Poppy, I cannot recommend you all enough!
23rd Jan 2024 (6 mo. ago)We’ve taken a little while to settle into our new home before making this review, As we wanted to make a true and honest review of our experience and how we felt. We went to Abbotts in Cromer to see a mortgage advisor and look at a property we fell in love with on right move. Our mortgage advisor Adam, was amazing. We were shown round by Simon and we loved it. So we put in an offer. This was accepted and the ball got rolling. We then found the communication with abbots go downhill. When we called we were always told they would call us back the same day however each time it was usually about 5 days later and after we already found out the information ourselves from calling the solicitor. So it seemed they were always one step behind. We found this to be annoying and thought maybe this was happening to us because we are first time buyers and we “don’t know any better” but this is just our theory. We were disappointed that the communication broke down. We ended up going through our mortgage advisor for everything instead of the estate agents as we got answers quicker and more efficiently. We would like to thank Adam and Olly at Country wide for going above and beyond for us. We really do think if we would’ve pulled out if it wasn’t for them! On completion day we had to remind them to give us the code to the back door so we could enter our property…as they said Watsons had our front door keys. When we went there they didn’t so it sent us on a wild goose chase to try and find the front door key to the flat building. We were given a number for us to call to organise ourselves to find the keys, which in our opinion this should have been sorted out in day of completion by them. Overall, we are happy we are finally in our home. We wouldn’t use abbots again. I know some people probably have a better experience with them but we unfortunately didn’t. We encourage any first time buyers to look about and ask about the best estate agents etc as we didn’t and we ended up regretting
15th Feb 2022 (2 years ago)Very bad experience: They could not provide me a single suggestion in almost one month despite the fact that I was ready to pay up to £1250. Although, they put me under great stress and made me believe that I can’t get any house below £1200 and can’t get less than 2 bedroom for family with a baby. It is because of them I did not search for less than 2 bedroom property for a long, assuming I can’t get that, which was incorrect. Every time, I called them they said it is not in their area and they will send my details to other office. Once, I spent around 4-5 hours to fill a form to apply for a property whose result they never shared with me. I expressed my interest to view many properties but mostly I did not get a response because they already had many applications for that property. Feedback for the agent to improve: 1.First, be transparent and responsive to the customers. If there are many applications for some property then convey that to the customers instead of keeping quite. Reply each email/call. 2.You have multiple offices in Oxford and you have advantage so use that to help the customers and not for torturing them. There is no communication (at least customer oriented) between your different branches. Your people just pass responsibility to other branches. For example, I called several times to show interest in some property then I was told that that property is not in their area. First, they should help the customers instead of passing on the things. Secondly, give the customer options available with you (customer might get interested in property available with you) instead of getting rid of them.

1/2 Bank Court Chambers, 60 Between Towns Road, Cowley, Oxford, OX4 3LR(69 reviews)26th May 2024 (9 weeks ago)Well what can I say had all the BS when took on selling our house, up for over 3 months, was in a 3 month contract via Bewley Homes 2/3 viewings in the 3 months, I emailed them at end of contract to take it off the market…no reply back, then another 3 weeks on I get a call about a viewing told them straight away I had emailed them re taking house off the market, but said yes ok for a viewing….then I get a call on the day viewing cancelled. They have since took it off the market. But overall 3/4 viewings in total, not very good

10th Jul 2024 (17 days ago)We have been pleased with Chamberlain Evans and would definitely recommend them - it seems much less stressful to use a local more personal independent firm.They quickly found us a good buyer, showed people round and were helpful, readily available and knew the market.They also liasoned with other professionals involved and recommended a good solicitor.

Accurate price setting of the house ensured we had offers in quickly and more importantly validated. Second to none of you want to sell.- 5th Jul 2024 (22 days ago)As first time buyers, me and my wife were not too familiar with the whole process of buying a house and finding the right mortgage. We visited the Connells team at the Headington office. The whole team was brilliant from day one. Their Mortgage Advisor, Jack Ballard was simply amazing!! Jack is very professional, knowledgeable, friendly, practical and very efficient. He is always available for you and has great communication skills. He would call you if there was anything urgent even if he was on his holiday. He was abe to quickly understand our needs and circumstances. He brings his vast experience not only as a mortgage advisor but also his previous experience working as an estate agent to the table. This was really helpful for us as you basically get two services in one. He not only helped us find the best mortgage rate at that time but also kept us informed when the rates went down and got us onto a lower rate. Jack's experience working as an estate agent really came in handy for us when choosing the property to buy, negotiating and communicating with the seller's agents, solicitors and expediting the whole process of buying a house which so far has been really smooth and hassel free thanks to Jack. Thank you Jack!! We would highly recommend Jack Ballard to anyone looking for a mortgage advisor.

She instructed a professional photographer to take photos of my home and the results were outstanding. The whole process was smooth from start to finish. Jess and Corinne were a delight to deal with and dealt with all queries from me efficiently. She supported me through the whole process. My house sold in just over 8 weeks as it was the height of summer. I received under the asking price but I was very happy with the final sale price. I went with Truemans solicitor and because they were referred to me by Amelie’s. They are excellent and very competitively priced. On the day I said my final goodbye to my home, Jess turned up with a beautiful bag of goodies from bubbly to chocolate which was a lovely touch. I highly recommend Amelie’s for your next house sale.

When I decided to leave the property, Filipe contacted me in advance regarding potential new tenants viewings and took all my requests into consideration. Filipe has a friendly and approachable manner, in addition to being professional at all times.

11th Feb 2022 (2 years ago)The flat we are renting is riddled with black mould and damp and Breckon have taken over a year to take action, incredibly slow service and they are now refusing to help us. Completely incompetent- 4th Jul 2024 (23 days ago)Terrible company, save yourself some regret down the line and avoid them. I have friends who rent through Chancellors and have had to go months with broken boilers and washing machines. My partner and I were on the verge of renting with Chancellors, and boy am I glad we got out while we could. They (in particular, Katie) repeatedly lied to us and gave conflicting information about how certain aspects of our contract would work. They use a pretty shady zero deposit scheme which involves end-of-tenancy dispute resolution through a private company instead of a certified independent body. They also repeatedly tried to pressure us into signing the contract while we still had concerns about all of this. They took an illegal fee of over £400 from us, which I only got back by threatening to take them to the ombudsman – they *knew* they were in the wrong, but will try anything just to see what sticks. Chancellors' whole business model involves expoiting tenants who can't find better, doing less than the bare minimum in order to maintain their margins and keep their landlords happy. I'm sure they'll reply to this with something that makes them sound less bad than they actually are – don't believe it. *** EDIT 4/7/24: after posting the response below, Chancellors also got in touch with me directly by phone, making no further attempts to make the situation right, but asking me to "consider removing or updating my review". Makes you wonder how many other negative reviews they've managed to get removed from here...
18th Mar 2024 (19 weeks ago)DO NOT SELL YOUR BUSINESS THROUGH THIS COMPANY! READ THE SMALL PRINT This company are extremely aggressive and unprofessional. We advertised a business with them, paid an huge fee to advertise. Later after terminating, we agreed investment (not even a sale) from an investor we met directly, who was never introduced by Hilton Smythe. After accepting investment after terminating with Hilton Smythe they demanded their commission!! Totally unreasonable given it was after termination and the person who invested in our business was never known to or introduced by Hilton Smythe! They are now behaving aggressively and threatening legal action. We in turn have reported them to the ombudsman and trading standards. They are snake oil salesmen. DO NOT DEAL!

13th Jun 2023 (1 year ago)Hathaways took over management of our Oxford property in April this year, and so far have been a breath of fresh air - it's great to be working again with a family concern, and to feel that they care about us and our tenants. The only issue we had was that some documents were rather unclear, but they responded promptly to my feedback and updated the docs to fix this. Service has been friendly and efficient.
