27th Oct 2021 (4 years ago)Shut two afternoons in a row with no notice, no info on website, just a handwritten sign in the door. Can't collect Amazon parcels, make PayPoint payments etc as a result. At least keep customers informed online and also inform Amazon so customers don't keep on trying to get items delivered there when the delivery driver can't gain access.
8th Aug 2026 (7 weeks ago)If I could give zero stars, I would.<br><br>Renting through Northwood has been one of the most stressful and frustrating experiences I've ever had. The biggest let-down by far was the maintenance department. Getting issues dealt with was an exhausting process, with poor communication, long delays, and very little urgency.<br><br>If you are a landlord paying extra for this maintenance service. If I were I would be concerned firstly how your tenants are being treated but secondly how your house is also being looked after. The way maintenance issues were handled throughout our tenancy reflected very poorly on the service being provided.<br><br>The end of the tenancy was just as disappointing. The checkout inspection was conveniently booked for the day after we had returned the keys, meaning we had no opportunity to attend or raise any concerns during the inspection.<br><br>Getting our deposit back then became a constant battle. Instead of a fair and straightforward process, my emails were ignored until I raised this with the TDS.<br><br>Throughout the tenancy, communication was poor, problems dragged on, and there was very little accountability from there side.<br><br>I genuinely can't recommend Northwood based on my experience. There are far better letting agents out there. Based on my experience I would never rent with Northwood again.

And what can we say about John Duffy from the Wokingham office … John is the upmost professional and certainly knows his stuff. Always checking in to make sure we are happy with everything, his communication is absolutely amazing. He has made the whole process stress free and seamless for us ! They gave honest feedback, unlike some estate agents, and supported us throughout the process, which at times was very stressful. Connor regularly gave us updates and reassured us. We have now moved out of the area but if we were still in Ascot and going to sell our house again then Carr Williams would be our first choice of estate agents every time. Thank you so much for all your efforts and getting us to the end!

15th Jul 2025 (1 year ago)Overpromised, Underperformed and Untrustworthy – My Costly Mistake with HSD I initially listed my property with PurpleBricks in March 2025 for £535,000. After limited viewings over a three-month period, I began exploring other options and submitted an enquiry to WeBuyAnyHouse. They quickly came back with an offer of £460,000—roughly 14% below asking—claiming it would allow for a quick sale. I immediately declined, as I was not in a rush and didn’t want to take such a significant loss. Shortly after, my details were apparently passed on to House Sales Direct (HSD), seemingly a sister company, without my explicit consent. HSD came across as professional and engaging at first. They promised a 98% success rate in selling properties within 28 days, citing a strong network of pre-approved buyers and investors who could complete within 6–8 weeks. They suggested a sale price spread of £510k–£535k, assuring me they would work to get me the best price possible. It sounded promising. Based on these assurances, I decided to proceed with HSD. I withdrew my PurpleBricks listing—costing me £300—with the understanding that HSD’s investor network would accelerate the sale. But things quickly began to unravel. Despite supposedly having investors lined up, HSD said they needed to relist my property on Rightmove first. When I questioned why investors couldn’t simply view the home, the response was vague. It took nearly two weeks for them to relist, and the new asking price was £525,000. A full week passed without any communication. Then came a call recommending the price be dropped to £499,000. I was told this was “just a marketing tactic,” and that they still aimed to get me a sale within the original £510k–£535k range. But I struggled to understand how listing a property nearly £40,000 lower would achieve that. I asked again about the investors. They finally admitted the only offer received was the same £460k I'd declined weeks earlier through WeBuyAnyHouse. This was when the red flags really began to show. Why wasn’t I told this upfront? Why present an optimistic price range if their investor offer was fixed at £460k from the beginning? Why was I encouraged to pull the property from PurpleBricks if they intended to rely on the open market anyway? I could have just reduced the price there and avoided unnecessary costs and delays. Doing more research online, I found stories from others with eerily similar experiences. It appeared HSD’s real model was to attract sellers with high expectations and then drop the price, relying on open-market tactics to force a quick sale. Despite claiming not to charge commission, they would never clearly explain how they made their money. It seems they may be negotiating higher prices with buyers while offering sellers less—profiting off the gap. No transparency, no trust. Meanwhile, they knew I was paying a high mortgage on an empty property. It became clear they were hoping I’d become desperate enough to accept the same low £460k offer I had already rejected twice. In the four weeks my property was listed with them, only four viewings were arranged. Two were no-shows. Of the remaining two, one viewer stayed for just five minutes—asked no questions and didn’t even view all the rooms. It felt performative, not serious. As expected, neither viewer submitted an offer, despite supposedly being “pre-qualified and keen.” Eventually, I told HSD I wanted to withdraw the property. That’s when I was informed—shockingly—that I had unknowingly signed up for a 52-week contract, and I’d need to pay £1,500 to exit, or £999 if paid within 7 days. I wrote to them, acknowledged that they had done some work, and offered a reasonable £699 exit fee, explaining I needed to rent the home out due to financial strain. They refused and insisted on full payment. I paid the £999 immediately—but it still took a full week and several chasers before they finally removed the property from Rightmove. By the end of the ordeal, it was clear I was no longer a priority for them. In summary: Do I regret choosing HSD? Absolutely. Would I recommend them to someone looking for a fair, transparent, and professional house sale experience? No. If your only goal is to sell quickly and you don’t care about value, they might work for you. But if you want to sell your home at a decent price with a partner you can trust, I strongly advise staying away from HSD.

Minimal viewings Person showing the house (not the exp lead) arrived at the same time as the potential buyers so house wasn’t opened up or displayed to best advantage No communication from the estate agent I would not use exp again. Very disappointed.

2nd Sep 2026 (25 days ago)?????<br><br>We recently dealt with HPrestige regarding a tenancy and, although unfortunately it didn't work out in the end, I really wanted to leave a review because of how impressed we were with Harpreet and Ben throughout the whole process.<br><br>Harpreet found what was genuinely the perfect property for our family, so we were extremely disappointed that, due to circumstances completely outside of the agency's control, we were ultimately unable to proceed with it.<br><br>From day one, Harpreet was amazing. He went above and beyond what we would normally expect from an estate agent. He was always available, constantly kept us updated and repeatedly chased things on our behalf. He was even messaging us with updates in the evenings, which really showed that he was completely on top of everything and genuinely cared about getting things sorted for us.<br><br>When the situation became more complicated, Ben also got personally involved and was equally brilliant. Both of them dealt with what could have become a very difficult situation in an incredibly professional, fair and pragmatic way. At no point did we feel ignored or left wondering what was happening.<br><br>Having dealt with many estate agents over the years, this experience really stood out. It's easy to provide good service when everything goes smoothly, but I think you learn much more about a company and the people behind it when something goes wrong. Despite us not ending up with the property, we came away with an extremely positive impression of HPrestige because of the way Harpreet and Ben handled everything.<br><br>We wouldn't hesitate to use HPrestige again or recommend them to others. A huge thank you to Harpreet and Ben for all your help, effort and professionalism. Genuinely first-class service.

After having several houses fall through with other agents, they’d call me if new houses were due to come on once they knew exactly what was after (no time wasting!!) and I ended up buying a property before it came to market.
