17th Mar 2026 (15 days ago)The reason is honestly, I was pressured by Debbie Bolderson the lady who deals with the sale, so much to allow my buyers to enter my property after exchange. This is just not viable and not ?????? legal. I initially said yes as I was stressed myself and didn’t want to lose the sale. However my conveyor and all my friends were saying No, it’s not right till they paid for house. Just a stressful situation that could have been avoided.

27th Feb 2022 (4 years ago)Wish I could’ve bought through the local estate agent; Brunel Estate Agents. Ideal Homes epitomise a big company that know nothing about the property, the area or any legal requirements. They market properties with gardens that aren’t owned by the property, don’t bother advertising the parking at properties with parking in areas where parking is at a premium. When they accept your offer they wait weeks to actually send the memorandum of sale, then during the sale don’t bother to keep you up to date, chase the seller or update you on changes such as the seller pulling out! Total incompetence on every level. Wouldn’t buy or sell with them even if they paid me to.

17th Mar 2026 (15 days ago)I’d like to commend Mark Price, the Cornwall division Branch Manager for managing a complex purchase admirably. As the buyer, Mark assisted with great communication between myself, his clients and all stakeholders - this was vital in helping to ensure the purchase completed as smoothly as was possible. Certainly if/when I chose to sell the house I have just purchased, my first preference will be to use Mark and the Jackson-Stops team based in Truro.

5th Aug 2025 (7 mo. ago)I wouldn’t even give this agency one star, as they seem to think students are easy targets to scam. My daughter and two of her friends rented a place from them last year, and it was in an awful condition. When we received the keys, the house was dirty from top to bottom — the toilet even had human waste in it. The bathroom was mouldy, and the kitchen counter, cooker, and extractor fan were greasy. There were also significant damp issues in the living room. We took photos and contacted Townsend before the girls actually moved in. In response, Townsend told my daughter and her friends that the house had been professionally cleaned, but when we came back, we saw that very little had changed. My daughter and her friends ended up cleaning the property themselves just to make it liveable. We even had to purchase a new lampshade for my daughter’s room because the old one was covered in dust, and she suffers from allergies.The damp issue in the living room was never resolved, but the girls made the house more livable and turned it into a home. We noticed that whenever a problem with the property arose, despite many email conversations, Townsend were very reluctant to act and their responses were extremely slow. For example, the garden fence fell down in November 2024, and the next-door neighbour was very aggressive about it. Yet, Townsend couldn’t get anyone to fix it before January 2025. When the girls decided to move into different accommodation, they left the property much cleaner than it had been when they received it. They expected to receive the deposit within 8 days of returning the keys to Townsend. However, Townsend came up with an excuse, claiming to have found crumbs on the kitchen counter and a single strand of hair, and told the girls they would each be charged £90 for professional cleaning. When we shared the before-and-after photos, Townsend still insisted on charging the amount and is continuing to withhold the deposit to this day. After reading some of the other reviews here, it’s clear that they particularly target students and impose extortionate cleaning charges with no evidence to justify them. Furthermore, the check-in and check-out reports of the property are not comparable, as the former report is very general whilst the latter was very specific. For Townsend to use photos of dirty areas at check out as proof that the property had been left in a worse condition to when the tenants moved in, they would need to show the same area spotless, at check in - no such photos exist. The unclean areas indicated at check out will have been in this state since before the tenancy started. Further to Townsend's rebuttal, I have included some of the original photos taken immediately after the "professional" cleaning.

14th Jun 2024 (1 year ago)The old art of selling fivers for a quid! Cross Estates, overvalued and undersold! Avoid our mistakes!!! From a valuation of 500,000 GBP nearly two and a half years ago, to final sale price of 370,000 GBP (-26%) shows the real bottom line of having a property, in Carbis Bay, sold by Cross Estates. The housing market may have dropped since the original valuation, but by 26%???? After an initial flurry of hype of how Cross Estates had international and domestic clients lined up, the reality was something else. Having clearly over valued it at the start, we only had 14 viewings in the following two years . They spent nothing on advertising. Finally it was sold as a fire sale for 130,000 less than their original valuation, yet they had the cheek to charge their full fees. We looked at Bradleys but in the end we were stuck with sole agency with Cross Estates, a very poor, and costly decision. Unfortunately we were not the sole owners of the property and our probate interests were not fairly represented. Cross Estates were asked to keep us informed but failed to do so. Interestingly Bradleys has just sold an identical property on the same street for 20,000 more than Cross Estates. If you are considering selling your property with Cross Estates, I would strongly advise against it. SELLERS BEWARE! Cross Estates merits 0 stars as an estate agent. The full 5+ stars as cowboys.
20th Jan 2026 (10 weeks ago)I purchased a property using Cole Rayment & White last summer. The agent was terrific; he liaised efficiently and swiftly with my vendors and lawyers, as needed, and he was invariably as friendly and helpful as he could be. The purchase went through rapidly, and I have been happily settled ever since. In my view, the smoothness of this purchase was related to my agent's skills, and also because CR&W are a respected, long-standing agency in my area, so their local knowledge adds a real benefit to what they offer. I would thoroughly recommend this company, and my personal thanks to Charlie, the agent who dealt with me.
2nd Sep 2025 (6 mo. ago)Absolutely disgusting service. The staff square up to you, not very professional and the sheer amount of lies that comes out of their mouth is just unbelievable. Extremely rude and arrogant staff. Please stay away. They don't seem to know the difference between rising damp and dirty marks on the wall. Totally unprofessional.

They helped us chase out solicitors who weren’t playing ball and worked really hard to get the sale completed before Christmas thank you so much!

21st Mar 2026 (11 days ago)Lived in one of the properties managed by the agency. Recently moved out of the property and a delivery was made in error to the letterbox of the apartment. I have sent over 4 emails to Sammy with regards to my situation but I have been completely ignored. This is not a good way to treat a client in any form. Called through and surprisingly my package is no where to be found. For a package that was delivered into the letterbox and the keys were dropped with the agency when we moved and no one has moved into the property yet. Worst experience ever.
