We dealt with Luke Price from the Chislehurst office and he was super efficient, friendly and helpful. As was his colleague Charlie. In the end we found a place through another agent but these guys really stood out from all the other agents we were dealing with. We would certainly recommend them or come back to them for assistance in the future. Thank you for your efforts guys :)... Read more

My father called this place looking for book a house viewing and was victim to racial profiling. When a customer come to look at a house, questions such as 'can you afford this house' come across as rude and disrespectful. Questions such as, is the houses you're looking for within this price range or where are you currently living could be used to tailor the house hunting experience I understand, but can you afford this house?! Ridiculous. My father is a GP and pays his taxes, so to be ask such a question I think is highly unprofessional. If it weren't for the busy schedule around during this time of the year I'm sure he would have been more inclined to make a complaint. I however am disappointed, especially living in Chislehurst for over 15 years now. Susan should be more respectful in the future.... Read more

I have twice used Capital in the past two years , to sell my property in Bromley and my mothers home in Beckenham . As with most buying and selling there are always "ups and downs" but Capital kept me informed every step of the way , even when Joe Mourat was off or on holiday he kept you posted .The valuation of both properties were realistic , unlike some companies and the photos were really professional making both properties really inviting . All in all I am really pleased I chose Capital and would not hesitate to recommend them . Thank you Joe and all at Capital .... Read more

We viewed a rental property and put in an offer and was assured by the lettings team that everything would be ok for go ahead. After that we heard nothing for 5 days ! Ignoring calls and emails. It’s just unprofessional and rude. And then was met with a poor excuse about not getting the property. Wasted my time completely and was really frustrating as we loved the property. The lettings manager just blatantly ignored and avoided us for whatever reason and kept being told he would email and call to let me know and never did. Not given me much faith in this estate agents sadly.... Read more

Professional, friendly & polite, I can highly recommend JDM Estate agents Chislehurst, who took me through the selling of my property, with efficiency. Special mention to David, who worked so hard to conclude the purchase, also Steven (Manager) and Kristina (senior negotiator). Nothing was too much trouble, they took charge of vacant property, and concluded a successful sale. Many thanks.... Read more

Alan De Maid - Chislehurst

I have no hesitation in recommending the Chislehurst branch of Alan de Maid. The manager Peter Batty is well connected and really understands the local market which enabled us to sell our previous home and buy the house we had set our hearts on. It was a complex process with lots of unexpected setbacks, but Peter and his team could not do enough for us and we were kept well informed throughout. Peter, Maria and Deana were all highly professional and a pleasure to work with.... Read more

Excellent service from Peter, Deana and the whole team at ADM in Chislehurst. Whilst both selling and buying property is always stressful, and compromises are inevitable, they were able to secure a purchaser for our property in good time enabling us to move onto our next house, and we were kept regularly updated. Special thanks to Jon Stuart (Capital Private Finance) who made the mortgage application process very easy and was able to secure us the funds needed very promptly, this enabled us to proceed with confidence knowing finance was in place. Thanks again, Jon and Sarah.... Read more

Poor, very Poor, extremely Poor My Experience with the letting team is real example why the market need to be more closely regulated! We viewed a property that was in a very bad state. We received assurances that the Landlord would be carrying out all the necessary work to get the property up to the required standard. Clearly the agent wasn't monitoring the works to see if it was safe for human habitation. I revisited the property again and found works incomplete and parts of the electricity circuit alive and accessible by hand. I made this clear to the agent who called the landlord to ask for the builders telephone number. They were told that the builder did not speak any english so there was no point having it. I said to the agent that if the builder had no english then how did he obtain his British electrical certification - fair question I thought? I was told that it was not there concern but could we pay the deposit and first months rent. Reluctantly we agreed. So day of move in arrives and the property is in the same state. We are now effectively homeless as the tenancy on our other property ends the next day and we have no money to extend. I told the agent we were not willing to sign a contract for a house in that state and that we required our money back straight away so we could sort accommodation out. I was given a flat no and told that it takes 5 -7 working days for them to process the payment. I explained that I had worked in accounts and that was not the case as it can be processed instantly. They then offered 2 to 3 working days. I said no and asked for their accounts telephone number. I spoke with accounts and explained the fact that we were now effectively homeless and without funds could not rent anywhere. We discussed the CHAPS payment system that would pay the money but the accountant said he would need permission of the branch manager. He came back to me a few moments later and said the branch manager would not authorise the payment to us. So off to seek legal advice I go! Under advice I wrote a letter to the branch explaining that if they did not return the money I would be taking legal proceedings against them. I hand delivered the letter to ensure it was not lost. I then went on to Social Media and vented my frustrations and feeling of helplessness that my family were about to be dumped onto the street even though I had funds to rent - although being held by Mann Swanley. I have contacted BBC Watchdog and will be hearing from their researcher soon. The key thing is that this was all preventable. The warning markers were there and I had brought them to the agents attention and they had not bothered to investigate. The arrogance and dismissal of my request to have my money returned is beyond description. Clearly the only interest of the agent is their slice of the tenant cake. My venting on Social Media has paid off and we will have money returned first thing in the morning. We can stay in the current property as long as the rent is paid tomorrow morning. I will still be chasing the agent through the courts to recover the monies I have lost and expenses I have incurred not moving in on the agreed date. I hope that they don't turn up to court or pay the award. Then I will take great delight being at their office when the court bailiffs turn and remove furniture to be sold and watch the smug look of the agents face being wiped off.... Read more

Winkworth - Chislehurst

I want to write a huge thank you note to the entire Winkworth team at the Chislehurst branch. The team has been absolutely brilliant managing one of the most difficult chains in the history of house buying/selling. Despite the complicated chain and myriad of issues that they had to assist with during the conveyancing process, the team took on the challenge and were extremely professional and calm. We are extremely happy with the team's service and we strongly recommend them if you are looking to buy/sell in the area.... Read more

I sincerely wish that we had received the same level of service as some of the other reviews that have been gathered here via the questionnaire Winkworth sends to their customers. However, for us, this was not the case. Our dissatisfaction with Winkworth relates to three issues. 1. Misleading quote and fee illustration. Winkworth Chislehurst quote their rate (1.25%) as a percentage plus VAT (20%). On the figure illustration they gave us of the potential fee we would pay inclusive of VAT, they neglected to add the VAT, resulting in a misleading quote. When the real price turned out to be higher, they claimed this was an error on their part, which is surprising, given that they must send such illustrations regularly. When I brought this their attention, they were unwilling to assist or compensate in any way. Key point: if using this agency, be sure to check the paperwork, as they may mislead you on the true price. 2. Poor attention to detail. When generating the floorplans for our property, Winkworth Chislehurst just downloaded a previous floorplan instead of drawing a new one up. It was left to me to check and advise of changes to the layout of the house that had been made since, which meant the floorplan needed updating. Key point: The agency is prone to making errors. This is despite the Winkworth working charter, which states “We look after the little details that make every home different”. 3. Irregular staff working patterns: When appointing the agency, you may speak with Chris Lang the manager. However, in our experience, he did not play much of a role in the sale of the house. We found that staff were often in and out of the office, and in some instances, it was challenging to ascertain who was overseeing our sale. Key point: if using this agency, insist on clarity over your point of contact. To those who read this review, I hope you find it useful and factor it into your decision making.... Read more
