If there is a bright star of the Estate Agent Universe this is clearly not it. Everything will run relatively smoothly until you move in. Then any problems with the property you are letting inspite of it being over a hundred years old will be YOUR FAULT. Nevertheless if you are told to poke around a drain in the back garden with a stick, Do yourself a favour and call the council. They have previous form for expecting the tenant to deal with issues that are the Landlord's responsibility. Do yourself a massive favour go somewhere else. Throw a dart at a map of agents, whoever you hit could not be any worse. In addition to the above Mike Shrubshall contacted me to request I remove or edit my negative review in exchange for paying for the Drainage Repair which wasn't my fault anyway! When I refused he accused me of being "aggressive" Fabulous customer service accusing the customer of fault when you don't get your own way....You couldn't make this up! SERIOUSLY if it's a choice between building a mud hut on your own and going to Martin and Co.....Build a mud hut. (In response to comments below) The issue with the plumbing was established by the council to be pre-existing. The officer who came out said that it was not the first time they had to deal with Martin and Co over such issues and not the first time that they had tried to stiff the tenant with the bill. The plumbing at the particular property (41 upper Kincraig) actu ally goes 'uphill' Now it doesn't take the brain of Stephen Hawking to realise that you cannot flush excrement uphill. Today I am seeking a reference to move on to another property and because he thinks somehow you shouldn't get irritated by having excrement flooding the back garden and that he is somehow deserving of courtesy and respect at the head of an estate agent that is frankly a total disaster is trying to blackmail me into being "nice" to him in exchange for a reference. My Mum died a month ago....I am being asked to move so they can sucker some other mug into living in the property.... Read more

My boyfriend and I started renting with Taylor's in July of this year. This company charges the most for their letting fees and so you would think they would have the best customer service, but they do not. When we first moved in my boyfriend and I did a detailed inventory of the property and reported multiple repairs that needed done as well as a strong damp smell in a storage cupboard. We did not get any of these repairs fixed until almost 8 weeks after they were reported and the damp issue has still has not been addressed. As tenants we bleached the walls of the cupboard, provide the storage area with ventilation and still it smells up our entire house. Since I have been living in this house my allergies have gotten worse and so I am worried that there might be mold that is not visible which maybe contributing to my amplified allergies. We have contacted the letting company and our landlord, where we were either ignored or promised that someone would come and look at the property but no actions have been made. We are fed up with this company. I would suggest that you save yourself the frustration and let with another letting company. Taylors DO BETTER.... Read more

George was fantastic getting us into a rental property that we need for business very fast. But unfortunately the house has a few problems and getting anything done or a response from peter alan was a complete joke!! As we paid 6 months upfront rent upfront it was like they didn’t care!! If I could give 0 stars, I happily would. But unfortunately 1 star is the lowest, which they definitely do not deserve. Awful company, rude staff, lazy and uncaring. Quick enough to demand money but rather slow with important repairs. House is falling apart around me but still nothing gets done. AVOID at all costs!... Read more

Approached, few weeks ago, to arrange a viewing. We were told they would phone back, as they were busy. No phone call! Partner phoned a second time, told her vendors had the keys back. Checked with vendor, they knew nothing about it, so we arranged direct with vendor for a viewing. Hard working people pay these people good money, for doing nothing.... Read more

Under no circumstances sell your business with Hilton Smythe. We made the unfortunate decision to sign a six month contract with them back in February this year to sell our shop. A valuer visited us and told us that if we paid so much upfront, they'd be no more fee's to pay and if the shop wasn't sold within six months we could simply pull it off the market or go with someone else. It was originally marketed and valued at £50,000. Initially we had a lot of interest and a sale looked likely. Then lockdown happened three weeks into the shop being advertised and all went quiet until late July, early August. Barely anything from Hilton Smythe. This we had expected due to the circumstances. In the meantime, the shop has been open and trading extremely well. Then come early August, we start being messed around by the agent. Suddenly and without any warning another agent has taken over and is arranging viewings with people who are not properly vetted. We're let down at the last minute by people who don't show up. We then reduce the price of our business in an effort to sell quicker, even then the agents kept calling with offer's well below the new asking price and when we turned them all down, we were made to feel like we're the ones being unreasonable and as though we should just accept any offer. Low and behold, we have decided to take our business off the market. Our contract ran out on August 2nd, therefore we are now out of contract. But... Hilton Smythe have stated that we have to give them six weeks notice for them to take our business off the market and in this time, we must accept viewings else we are liable for a fee of almost £3,000! We only received an actual copy of our contract, the day we gave Hilton Smythe our notice, which was two days ago. Yesterday, emails were flying back and forth between Myself and the agency over yet another no show. Hilton Smythe have become bullies and will stoop to any depths. They're not on the sellers side, the very people paying them and they will send anyone, unvetted, to waste your time on the promise of a sale. No matter how hard you try to get out of it, they will use 'the contract' against you. Do expect a level of stress that will drive you to the brink of a nervous breakdown and if you have a decent business, expect it to be adversely affected by bogus buyers phoning them and then you being forced into showing such people around! I urge anyone thinking of selling a business, go elsewhere. I wish I had seen some of these reviews back in February.... Read more
