7th Aug 2026 (6 weeks ago)Tried to rent a property, but the Lettings Negotiator was unable to prepare the Tenancy Agreement in a timely manner, and even then expected us to give notice on our current tenancy before signing the new tenancy agreement with them. After missing the first cut-off date that we told them we would need to sign the tenancy agreement by, they then had another 4 weeks to prepare the tenancy agreement, but were once again unable to do so in a timely manner. The Lettings Negotiator blamed this on the landlord not replying to her emails. Did you not think to phone and find out an answer over the phone? The result is our tenancy application was declined. What an absolute waste of time this was. Thankfully, I have obtained details of the landlord and will be advising her of the true reasons for the continuous delays in this process that ultimately led to our applicaton being declined.<br><br>They use Homelet to run the reference checks, which took over 2 weeks to complete. This was also part of the delay. If you are self-employed or Homelet have to complete any manual human checks, then expect long delays. I sent multiple messages to Homelet and made multiple phone calls, but they did not reply to any of my messages. This is a service chosen by Robinsons, therefore Robinsons has to accept responsibility of the fact that Homelet is a very poor and slow service. I will never use any estate agents that uses the Homelet service in the future.

14th Oct 2025 (11 mo. ago)Tried selling a flat with them and it was a drawn out and painful process. It lasted more than a year before it fell through. Going with their contractors and solicitors was the biggest mistakes I made in the sale. I thought if I went with their recommendations, they will facilitate the process, but no. One was dishonest and the other one completely incompetent. Stuart Edward was initially responsive, but then when run into problems months down the line, Lindsey stopped answering calls and the boss Stuart did not call back when messages left. I was left on my own to deal with all the technicality and mess. It was so horrible and stressful, I do not wish it on anyone. Two stars was being very generous as they were ok initially. I went with them because I wanted to support family business. Never again.
2nd Mar 2019 (7 years ago)We are student at Durham University and we decided to rent a house. I called the estate agent and they agreed to send us the agreement and everything to rent this one house that we really liked. We were supposed to arrive a week later to submit the forms and pay deposit. When I got the papers, they confirmed with us that the house would be definitely be reserved for us. However, the morning we were supposed to hand in the papers, I got a short, badly articulated email saying that the property was no longer available and that we should look somewhere else. No explanation, nothing. We were angry because student accommodation is competitive and we lost so much time waiting for this house. Upon emailing them multiple times, they finally said that the previous tenants decided to stay for another year. Didn’t they confirm with the current tenants that they would be moving out? Why would they even list the house if that was an option? .Why send us the agreements and everything? They didn’t even bother trying to find us other options that we could stay at instead. All and all, I would never use this agent again because their service is absolutely terrible
15th Sep 2026 (2 days ago)No matter which member of staff you contact the service is consistently good. Communication is clear and follow-up on point. Staff maintain a friendly and relaxed manner and are professional at the same time as being well informed and on the ball.

She responded promptly to my inquiries and made a significant effort to ensure that the process ran smoothly. I am very pleased with the overall experience at Dowen, particularly with Caroline's assistance. It was an outstanding experience.

This included full property compliance management throughout.<br><br>Their qualified lettings team truly delivered on their promise of providing "complete peace of mind, with every aspect of the tenancy." Professional, responsive, and thorough.<br><br>A special call-out to Deb Hodgson, Senior Sales Negotiator, and her Sales Team for their excellent guidance through the recent tenancy dispute and resolution, and for helping the sale go through without a hitch. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.
29th May 2026 (16 weeks ago)Awful experience from day one. Lesley came to me with a tenant who moved in October 25. First off they allowed a tenant to move in with no months rent up front - never agreed with myself. 7 months later I am still a month behind on unpaid rent even though I have emailed Lesley directly every month chasing. Peter Clark received the keys back to the property on 15/05 and I’m still yet to receive the months rent I’m owed. To add to this there wasn’t a single month where the rent was paid on the date stated on the agreement and instead they allowed the tenant to pay them with cash each month.

I rented one of their properties for almost three years, but towards the end of my tenancy the staff were careless, slow to respond and unprofessional. Despite having my Right to Rent share code, they never raised the approaching expiry with me. When I informed them a month in advance that I was leaving the UK, they insisted on two months’ notice, while initially telling me the property would be prepared for sale after I left, which gave me the impression that my departure had been accepted. Only much later did they tell me that my deposit would be withheld unless I paid another month’s rent. The delayed and unclear communication made an already stressful international move unnecessarily difficult. It was a complete mental harassment. I expected much better professionalism after being their tenant for nearly three years.

All staff were very professional throughout and more than helpful with general queries. I especially felt listened to by Emma who really guided me through the sales process regarding time frames and next steps. Emails were answered promptly, communication was clear and I felt reassured that the team managed our sale well throughout. A very successful outcome and a big thank you.

14th Aug 2026 (5 weeks ago)We lived in a 3 bedroom house in Durham for over 3 years and Evenmore is one of the most incompetent and unprofessional companies I have ever encountered. I would recommend avoiding them as a letting company at all costs. We had multiple times things break and not only did they fail to communicate timeframes or expectations but left us in limbo without a washer or an oven for multiple weeks. They never told us the exact expectations for property inspections, but we thought we were doing fine when for two years our reviews never flagged any issues. Midway through our tenancy they changed who inspected the property and said we were failing to comply with the terms of the lease. They attempted to blame us even though these expectations were never communicated to us and our past inspections were fine. They even made passive aggressive comments to my wife about the house looking “disgusting” and “smelly.” We have two toddlers so that was the tommie tippie. This was a part of a pattern of making insensitive and unprofessional comments about us and lacked any care for us as the tenant. We got locked out of our kitchen and no one picked up their emergency line and so we had to wait for a day to get in our kitchen. Moreover, when we were leaving they scheduled appointments without our knowing and entered the home with prospective tenants while my wife was in the shower and our son was sleeping in his room. They blamed it on a technical error. They again, took no accountability for their own mistakes and unprofessionalism. When we exited the property we payed 400 in expert cleaners to come and clean the whole property. They took all of our deposit back saying they had to spend hundreds in house cleaning. They are only concerned to cover up their own failures to communicate and care for the tenant. If I was a landlord and knew how poorly they communicated with their tenants I would have serious reservations about using them to manage my property. Expats beware.
