Once I’d decided to sell my rented house in Loddon, I had to choose the professionals I wanted to help me. Being a retired solicitor I knew more than most about how things work- or should work. I considered three agents, all had properties for sale in Loddon. I chose Musker MacIntryre because I was impressed by their calm professionalism and they simply talked sensibly. Their advice seemed accurate in the buyer’s market I was selling in. This later proved to be the case.
Initially my dealings were with Simon McIntyre, with decades of experience of all markets, he gave considered advice and won my trust, as solidly professional and knowledgeable. He advised me what price to try, when to reduce it and to what and what I’d have to do to sell it fast, which he didn’t advise, saying it wasn’t necessary. At no time did I feel hassled to reduce the price or that the agency was worried about their fees or their cash flow. This contrasted strongly with a competing agency, who regularly tried to get me to switch to them, who seemed to be empire building and to be incredulous that anyone might not use them. I only didn’t block them because I wondered how far they’d go (too far for me). Fact: all properties are on Right Move, and I knew mine was as likely (if not more likely, it’s a nice house) to sell than one marketed by over-active, irritating selling systems/people. So I stuck with my chosen agents and didn’t panic, not even when after months we’d only had 3 viewings, because this was the market and I wasn’t going to sell at any price. I had the option to rent out again until the market changed - but that wasn’t necessary.
One of the early viewers re-appeared having sold their house with a completed short chain. Alix was brilliant throughout, helping with logistics when we had to deal with practical issues, as I don’t live locally. I’d say she’s the sort of person who’s critical to the success of an organisation. She’s the glue that holds things together and helps make things happen promptly. She makes practical suggestions and goes the extra mile. We all recognise such people when we deal with them and frankly they’re mobile stress busters! My house has just exchanged contracts at a fair price, not as much as I’d wanted, but spot on what was fair in the market we are in. It also completes a week after exchange of contracts- almost exactly to the day when Simon had estimated would be an average for a sale.
This review covers the timescale from initial instructions in October 2025 to exchange of contracts in April 2026, including a period when the house was still rented out, when my agents were really friendly and helpful dealing with the tenants before they left and then afterwards when it was empty.
Everyone I dealt with at Musker McIntyre was knowledgeable and helpful. No one was ever rushed or muddled. They called or emailed me back promptly when I contacted them. Alix did the day to day running of matters and I really liked her and found her friendly and a safe pair of hands.
Honestly, I cannot fault the Musker McIntyre team and wouldn’t want to. I have no hesitation in recommending them.
