13th Oct 2024 (14 weeks ago)13/10/2024 I am not sure what has happened to MD, but it seems selling a house via this agent is frustrating, there simply isn’t any pro activeness, it’s all reactive and lack communication. You have to chase them to find out what’s going on and how far the sale has progressed. And when you chase they react by saying let me look into that and come back, they should be on top of each sell, not let me find out which them seem to take days Clearly standard have dropped. Years ago they would actively sort things out. Background- Currently selling my house via this agent, they found a buyer within 4 weeks ie in July this year, however, so far lost about another 4 weeks just waiting on information for buyers solicitors from this agent. I was told they had id check delays, then told just an admin issue not a buyer issue. Memos have been requested. and then told It is our extra id checks that takes a little while with credas. etc. All this took 4 plus weeks. mean time we waited for buyers solicitors, and finally they came back and said they had not been instructed by this buyer. When Agent tried contact then no answer, the agent could not get hold of this buyer, so started the whole process again. Was advise best to put the house back on the market. luckily we found a second buyer mid Aug, however, its now been 8 weeks, and the progression of the sale is at best slow, I have to keep chasing the agent to find out what is going on, and that itself losses days and they do not seem on top of what is going on, "let me find out" seem to be the phase they use. Surly its in their interest to be on top of each sale and move it forward.

House was presented clean and in good condition aswell. Houses are not overpriced either. Recommended them a lot ! Really professional and easy to talk to ! Thank you so much for everything !!
18th Mar 2024 (9 mo. ago)DO NOT SELL YOUR BUSINESS THROUGH THIS COMPANY! READ THE SMALL PRINT This company are extremely aggressive and unprofessional. We advertised a business with them, paid an huge fee to advertise. Later after terminating, we agreed investment (not even a sale) from an investor we met directly, who was never introduced by Hilton Smythe. After accepting investment after terminating with Hilton Smythe they demanded their commission!! Totally unreasonable given it was after termination and the person who invested in our business was never known to or introduced by Hilton Smythe! They are now behaving aggressively and threatening legal action. We in turn have reported them to the ombudsman and trading standards. They are snake oil salesmen. DO NOT DEAL!
17th Oct 2024 (13 weeks ago)My daughter’s experience with The Home Agency has left her with trauma. I had to pick up the pieces when she was face with being blind sided. It was only at the time of signing we found out that there was an on-suite that had already been allocated. The final straw was the property was overcrowded with a non-registered tenant living in the property. My advice is to be very cautious!!!!!

11th Dec 2024 (5 weeks ago)Thomas was really amazing, but what impressed me most was how he treated my Mother-in-law. He treated her so well and despite her having mobility issues and dementia, he fully engaged her in the conversation and listened intently to her and sought to understand her needs from the property. This meant so much to us because our move is centred around her care going forward. Younger folk often dismiss the older generation as irrelevant but he was just so kind and thoughtful - exactly what you want from an agent. Would thoroughly recommend Thomas - he is a real asset to Charters!
