Can't actually believe there are people who are putting in their reviews they've either been scammed completely or not what they bid for or doesn't work!! Then make excuses like "you take your chances" it doesn't matter that your not buying from a store or from Amazon or eBay, the item should be what you've paid for or as stated AND in working order JOHN PYE are the sellers so should check every item before taking money!! Then I'm reading you all do.it over en over again hoping this times gonna be different! ONLY IN THE UK is this acceptable ! Your all struggling through a pandemic and what do you do? I've been very disappointed with the level of customer service we have had from Payne. We were looking for a three bedroom property and had some time limits on when we had to move in by. We found and viewed a property which was listed for £850 per month. We were interested in applying but wanted a speedy application. To aid this, we offered an additional £50 per month on top of the rent on the agreement that Payne would give us a response by a certain date. Payne delayed in acknowledging our offer until it was too late. They then responded and told us that our application for the house was being taken further. and did not mention anything about the price. We were contacted the following Monday when we were due to pay the agent fees and provide identification. It was at this point that we were told that we would have to pay the rate of £900 per month rather than the advertised £850. We had clearly stated that the offer was conditional on us hearing back within a certain time frame as we had to spend extra money on storage and accommodation because of the delay in moving in. As we were pressed for time and were advised that our application would be refused if we did not agree to the higher rent, we reluctantly agreed. After the referencing period, we were able to move into the house, whereupon we discovered that there were several large items of furniture that were present that had not been present when we viewed the property, most notably was a large blue sofa. As we had made arrangements for furniture, this was not entirely appreciated. We had to change arrangements for other furniture, costing us time and money. We politely emailed Payne to discuss options for storing or possibly removing these items from the house as they limit the space that we have available. They responded (rather rudely in my opinion), asserting that all the furniture that was in the house when we moved in was there for the viewing. I found their response lacked any basic politeness and essentially accused us of lying, allowing no possibility that they were mistaken. I find it incredible that they think we somehow just didn't see several large items of furniture... Instead of offering any sort of compromise, they were incredibly unhelpful and advised us of places in the house we could store them. Finally, we have had issues with their 7 day inventory policy where they have emailed one of my housemates and essentially accused me of having lied to them about our responsibility towards replying to the inventory. I was told that we would have seven days from receiving it to check and respond. We received it last Monday and have tried to submit it with a few minor adjustments earlier today, one week later, only to find that we can now no longer make any amendments. Any attempt to speak to anyone from this company has been difficult, their customer service is appalling and they have been completely unwilling to budge on any of the issues we have faced. Overall, terrible service. For reference, I have included a picture of the sofa that they have said was there when we viewed the property. I will leave it up to you to decide whether we could possibly have missed this...... Read more

Red Brick successfully acted as the Selling Agent for our house.We found that the whole team throughout the process were professional, responsive and committed to getting potential buyers to view the property. They handled all the viewings themselves, followed up with the viewers, and provided prompt feedback on the viewing. What was very impressive was that all of the team knew the status of our sale and at any given time, which demonstrated to us that "Red Brick" as a company were working on our behalf in finding a buyer, which the did in a very short period of time... I've only been a tenant since July, but I am really disappointed in this agent. Their communication and common courtesy doesn't even exist, and unfortunately their contractors are even worse despite knowing there is no heating in my daughter's bedroom, and the radiator is leaking water causing potential damage to the carpets, underlay and plasterboard. This has been going on now for 6 days. I've taken time off work today to be here for the contractor and the agent cancelled it without them or the contractor advising me this. I have even sent photos to the agent and explained to the contractor that it is getting worse - still had no response from either of them. I have had to make contact again to try and get this resolved. I've been advised today that I'm at the bottom of the priority list and they will be in touch in due course. Admittedly, I have been hard to deal with over the last few days and credit to the team for dealing with my phone calls, but my actions are with the thought of my children and their welfare in mind. I hope they will learn from this and make changes to their internal processes so other young families haven't got to experience the stress I have over the last few days and will continue to do so until it has been repaired, which at the minute has no timeline.... Clueless about Lettings and seldom return calls. They manage my partners property, when the tenancy experienced difficulties, we would have expected the agent to be aware of basic legalities and to offer us correct advice. Additionally they only return calls and responded to emails after repeated requests. We have received excellent service from a local independent who possesses the legal knowledge and already treating us as a client rather than a number and for a highly competitive rate. Our advice; opt for a local independent who genuinely appreciates your business. This connells branch are clearly under resourced and more importantly, unqualified to manage properties. They act like a supermarket as opposed to a professional estate agent. The lettings manager claimed he was legally trained yet we discovered from the other agent that his advice was incorrect. Even the tenant has experienced the same issues with them. My partner is now transferring her business. Will never deal with this agent again. We have recently researched numerous local agents and finally sourced one whom we trust and can deal with the owners direct. They say you get what you pay for; well not in this instant.... Read more

I rented a house from them, found them a complete rip off company, top to bottom unprofessional and rude staff after selling you the contract. They retined my deposit even I checked out better than I found. They ll try to offer short term tenancy contract and then ll never renew the contract for two reasons: 1 To rip off existing tenant by retaining deposit money. 2 to re rent the house and charge them with tenancy silly admin and processing fee. They also give details to companies for their own unpaid bill. a real headach... Read more

I have been renting from this estate agency for 4 years now BUT only because I love the property. I have been dissatisfied with their service for years as they lack professionalism and fail take responsibility whenever in the wrong. The agency lacks communication skills between themselves and clients as they have forgotten to get back to me about several things and when confronted all I receive is defensive comments from both agents and management. Out of the whole group and new hires over the years Andrea has shown the best service and truly is carrying the team because I feel at ease and comfortable when she answers the phone, she is Efficient, professional and overall just polite. This agency is very money focused instead of customer satisfaction which is worrying as they are selling and renting homes which is of great importance to PEOPLE. I have tried to file formal complaints in past which has led to no where and truly left me frustrated and encouraged me to write this very honest review.... Read more
