I have been fortunate enough to have employed Knight Frank in Edinburgh twice in the last few years. During a divorce it was necessary for me to have a house, in Orkney, independently valued for court purposes and Michael Ireland was incredibly respectful and professional. I was very happy with the presentation and research Michael did for us. It was painless.
Subsequently, four years down the line, I asked Knight Frank to market and sell my house for me and I was introduced to Michael Jones, a most patient and charming man. Together we prepared the house ready for market and Michael advised me perfectly on timing and photography. We produced a stunning brochure together.
My house was sold within the first week of marketing. I am a big fan of Knight Frank Edinburgh. Always reliable and responsive, always polite and very much a feeling of working with family. I am very grateful to have found this incredible office.
A big thank you to you all.
We feel very fortunate to have worked with the Knight Frank team specifically Tom Stewart Moore, Ran Morgan and Faith Pedan. Collectively they did an exceptional job selling our rural estate outside Glasgow, managing to secure a very favourable outcome during what was a very difficult period in the market.
It goes without saying that we would not hesitate to recommend Knight Frank but a special mention goes to Tom Stewart Moore who worked tirelessly and with endless professionalism.
I was really impressed by Michael's enthusiasm and professionalism. He contacted me within minutes of emailing an initial enquiry, at the weekend! Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to others.
Never had an experience like the one with this company. Fortunately never got to the stage of agreeing to sell my house, I never went ahead after hearing horror stories from my friends. This prompted me to ask some questions, none of which were answered how I would expect. All I would say is watch very closely if you are selling or renting with them - the solicitor I am now using says the owner Michael Annan is infamous in their business for the way he works. Will say one thing then do another.
Setting up a viewing was very simple and Ellie was very helpful in addressing any questions that we had. Signing the lease was stress-free and was done electronically whilst property itself was very well maintained. The only minor repair that was required was fixed as soon as we brought it up to the agents. Overall, we are very pleased with our experience and plan on staying in the property for the rest of our time in Edinburgh.
Avoid at all costs.
I was with DJ Alexander for two years, dealt with endless different members of staff. Complete nightmare chasing problems. We moved into a flat which was dirty and in poor condition. Very few of the repairs needed over our tenancy were undertaken (those that were, were undertaken to a very low standard), and no cleaning was offered. Contractors used are of the lowest quality and required cleaning up after.
Agency tried to take our deposit for historic damage and cleaning which wasn't required. Even after providing evidence that the property was left in better condition than when we arrived, we were still charged for cleaning.
It seems the process they have in place is to charge tenants as much as possible to prop up their bank balance. I have no doubt that the previous tenants were charged for cleaning which evidently wasn't undertaken.
Despite government efforts to prevent estate agents holding such a high position of power, this company continues to abuse it's position.
If you *MUST* use this company, photograph EVERYTHING upon arrival and email this to the company as evidence. Never call them as these discussion go unrecorded and ignored. KEEP A PAPER TRAIL, and keep a solicitor on hand!
In Spring 2019, we used Simpson & Marwick to sell our flat in the New Town in Edinburgh. They gave great advice throughout the process. Particulars were very good and they covered all of the viewings. The flat sold very quickly for a good price. In November/December 2019 we used Simpson & Marwick to help us purchase a house off market in a Murrayfield. Richard Loudon was an enormous help and the team did a fantastic job.
Excellent experience throughout our five years of tenancy, prompt service and fantastic communication and respect of our privacy/schedule. Honourable mention to Charlie who was always incredibly helpful and pleasant.
Very poor service - not recommended to landlords/tenants
The consultant I've dealt with (Marcus) did not respond to my enquiry for booking a viewing, instead he "replied" with an email asking back for our personal info, ignoring our question about viewing the property with our suggested dates/times.
I provided all our info as requested. However, I had to follow up myself (with email and phone calls!) to finally arrange an appointment after having waited 2 days for him to contact us.
During our call he showed no flexibility or willingness whatsoever to accommodate a suitable time/date for the viewing, which lead us to withdraw our interest in the property.
Thanks very much for your support during the process and answering my question to the detail each time. Dave kept comfortable all the time during the process as he is available to discuss, if there is need to reach him.
Honestly I am delighted with your service. So, I am sure I will use Neilsons service again if there is a need and also happy to recommend to my friends as well without any hesitation.
My experience with Neilsons started of Great. Dealing with Dave he was very efficient and quick to respond thought the whole process. However there was an ongoing Roof replacement on the property I was purchasing . I had raised my concerns to be investigated more to ensure I didn't have to pay for the bill. Dave passed this onto another member of the team who after consulting with the sellers solicitor confirmed I didn't have to pay for the roof replacement. The day I moved into the property I got a letter stating that I had to pay for the remaining 2/3 of the roof replacement which was just over £2000. Apparently only 1/3 of the roof had been replaced which I feel should have been picked up. This experience left me feeling a bit let down by Neilsons however It wouldn't put me off solely using Dave.
