27th Jul 2026 (17 days ago)The team at Dean & Co are fantastic. I rented a property for 4 years and Marion and Heidi were the ladies I dealt with. There were a few issues at the property due to it being an older property however everything was dealt with promptly and efficiently.<br>I would have no hesitation on recommending them. 31st Jul 2026 (13 days ago)Great estate agents: communication was spot on and always professional.<br><br>I dealt with Aiden throughout the process of purchasing our new home, with Shannan showing us around initially. Everyone I dealt with was outstanding and they have all done a great job.<br>There are always things that crop up when buying a house, but they handled everything with care and thoughtfulness, gave us great advice along the way, and were a pleasure to deal with throughout.<br>I didn’t choose them as I was buying rather than selling, but based on this experience, I absolutely would choose them in the future.<br>Many thanks,<br>Jonathan & Ellen

26th Jul 2026 (18 days ago)A new name does not erase what is happening in a Brighton HMO I am aware of.<br><br>Brand Vaughan remains named on Brighton & Hove City Council's HMO licence register, while the property has been sublet for day-to-day management to a tiny, newly incorporated ghost company with no established housing-management history and virtually nothing reputationally to lose.<br><br>Meanwhile, Brand Vaughan retains its official position on the licence so it can retain passive profits while remaining totally absent from the actual management of the house.<br><br>The property has no Fire Risk Assessment, was recorded by East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service as a single dwelling rather than a HMO, and still has crucial outstanding fire-safety and HMO licence remedial works that were due over a year ago! Those outstanding remedials were confirmed by a Brighton & Hove City Council housing inspector.<br><br>Tenants have also had to deal with serious safeguarding failures, including complaints concerning indecent exposure and harassment, while even basic management responsibilities such as enforcing house rules, managing anti-social behaviour and fire-safety compliance have been completely neglected.<br><br>The rogue management also installed CCTV cameras inside the communal areas of the HMO, including directly outside a communal bathroom, filming tenants entering and leaving the bathroom in towels and pyjamas within their own home. The installer was witnessed granting the same tenant reported for repeated indecent exposure access to the live camera feed via the mobile application.<br><br>These matters have now been reported to Sussex Police, the Information Commissioner's Office, Brighton & Hove City Council and East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service. In the coming days, the council housing team and East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service are attending the property together for a joint inspection.<br><br>So before celebrating an "exciting new chapter", perhaps Charters should explain how Brand Vaughan can remain on the official HMO licence, benefit financially from the property, outsource the day-to-day responsibility to a newly incorporated company, and yet allow a licensed HMO to operate without a Fire Risk Assessment, under the wrong fire-service classification, with confirmed safety remedials outstanding for over a year.<br><br>You can change the branding. You can change the logo. You can hand the property to a company with no history and hope tenants are sent round in circles.<br><br>But you cannot rebrand away the licence, the paper trail, the confirmed breaches, the ongoing police, ICO, council and fire service involvement, or accountability.

James checking in regularly to see how things were carrying on and had impeccable communication skills. He came with a wealth of knowledge about the local community that we were moving into and gave some great insights into schools and local clubs for our children. We are very happy with our new purchase and cannot wait to make long lasting memories together as a family.

From start to finish, he was incredibly professional, approachable, and always available whenever we needed him. He was very hands-on, keeping us updated every step of the way and always happy to answer any questions we had, no matter how small.<br><br>What really stood out was how proactive and responsive he was. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble, and his communication was exceptional, which made what can often be a stressful process so much easier.<br><br>We genuinely felt supported throughout, and Heb went above and beyond to ensure everything progressed as smoothly as possible. Symon Pettifer-Back supported us throughout the sale of our flat, while Kevin Keehan guided us through the purchase of our house. We had previously worked with Symon when we bought our flat, so we knew we were in good hands.<br><br>Buying and selling property is rarely straightforward, but Symon and Kevin were always proactive in keeping things moving, regularly chasing solicitors and the other parties in the chain to ensure progress throughout both the sale and purchase. Our main point of contact was Bob Beaken, and communication throughout was poor - basic management pack queries went unchased for weeks, information was mixed and kept changing, and updates were inconsistent.<br><br>The low point came when, after a brief and entirely reasonable visit to discuss timings with the seller, I received a call from Bob lecturing me about the visit rather than helping resolve the underlying delays that had caused the frustration in the first place. The seller withdrew from the sale shortly afterwards, at which point I'd have expected a competent, professional agent to be working to keep the sale together rather than adding friction to an already stressed situation.<br><br>We had cash in hand and were ready to proceed quickly. The lack of proactive, professional handling from this agency made an already difficult process worse. Can't recommend
