The only reason I’m giving a 1 star is because I can’t give a “ minus 1”. The experience of trying to get my deposit back from them has been distressful to say the least. One month after the end of my tenancy my money is still not with me. The landlord had advised me on the 9th of Sep saying He’s instructed Connells to release the deposit. I tried to give them Time initially to get back to me when the deposit is processed. They got in touch with me on 13/09 asking for my bank details. Despite asking them while vacating the property if they would need any details from me for processing the deposit and despite getting a “no don’t worry, we have everything.” , they they didn’t have my bank details and could only ask 4 days after being instructed to release the deposit. I shared the details with them on 13/09. Still don’t have my deposit back. Multiple times the agent has promised me she’s chased up the concerned department and I should receive the money within 3-5 days. As far as I understand, legally, I should receive my full deposit within 10 days of end of tenancy with any agreed amount deducted. It’s both frustrating and legally incorrect to hold my money due to no fault of mine. I’ve raised the complaints with their complaints department formally and I’ve received a response after 5 days saying I should receive the money today. Promises promises no execution. Do NOT go for letting with them unless you want to go through this painful experience.
