25th Jul 2026 (10 days ago)I want to share our end-of-tenancy experience with Hamptons (Lettings) Chiswick (W4), because it genuinely surprised us how it played out.<br><br>We did everything by the book. We paid Hamptons' fee for a professional check-in and check-out inspection, on the assumption that paying for a "professional" meant the property would be assessed properly and fairly. That is not what happened.<br><br>At check-out, the inspector managed to miss items that were in plain sight. A carpet that was under the bed was recorded as gone. A lamp and several other things sitting on the right-hand side of the sofa were somehow not found either. We wrote back to Hamptons and told them exactly where each item was. Rather than simply looking again, they told us they had sent someone from their own team to check, and that person confirmed the items were "missing." One of these, a lamp, was valued by them at £130 and still set against our deposit.<br><br>Here is where it becomes hard to accept. The flat is now back on the market. A friend of mine, posing as an interested renter, viewed it and filmed a short video. In that footage the lamp is sitting exactly where I said it was all along. So an item Hamptons charged us for, twice claimed to have "checked," and deducted from our deposit, was never missing at all.<br><br>The landlord is very much part of this too. Time and again our questions went unanswered because Hamptons told us they were "waiting for answers from the landlord." Between an agent who would not correct clear mistakes and a landlord who left us waiting, we were stuck in the middle with no one taking responsibility and our money held the whole time.<br><br>The result (after 57 days from our end of tenancy) is a chunk of our deposit still outstanding, tied to deductions we do not accept, backed by inspections we paid for that were simply wrong. Every step of the resolution had to be driven by us.<br><br>For an agency of Hamptons' size and reputation, I expected far better. My advice to any tenant renting through them: be sure your deposit is protected, photograph and film everything at check-in and check-out, keep every email, and do not assume the paid "professional" inspection will protect you, in our case it did the opposite.

One of the slimiest worst estate agents there is, thinks he knows better than anyone else and is arrogant, massively toxic and reeks of bad practises. Would avoid as far as you can from Ash, he can’t even answer basic questions without being flummoxed at the simplest question. Also tries to conceal the truth on numerous occasions, but gets there if you press hard enough looool

16th Jul 2026 (19 days ago)I am happy to share the amazing experience I have had working with Stuart Bennett! My daughter living in London sourced Stuart, and from the time we were introduced I felt comfortable that I would be listened to and that properties would be presented in a progressive and thoughtful manner. I live in the US, so Stuart would often screen properties with my daughter, always being considerate of both of our schedules and input. He broadened the area of the search as I requested, and helped me be certain not only of the flat itself, but the neighborhood. His knowledge was impressive, as was his enthusiasm for the neighborhoods. I never felt pressure, and knew that I could take my time finding "My Flat". We all knew when it came, a testament to Stuarts capacity to narrow down the options. He then skillfully managed both the buyer and seller, which can be very tricky. It was very clear he had both of our best interests in mind, but also both of our trust. He connected me with all of the necessary legal and tax resources, always staying involved. As I was purchasing the flat with furniture and fixtures, and was on a timeline that was quite tight by UK standards, there was stress involved towards the completion. Stuart never over-promised, but continued to push the deal forward and to my delight we closed on-time and I moved in on my desired date. I highly recommend Stuart, and look forward to working with him again in the future!!!

19th May 2022 (4 years ago)We’re first time buyers and John D Wood were selling the home we were buying. We were shown our new home by George who was lovely. Julian in the team managed everything else, and the man is a saint. I was stressed to say the least between work and trying to buy a house in a short timeframe. No matter how testy I got, he was patient, friendly and supportive. I can’t speak highly enough of Julian, and when we eventually sell in the future he’ll be the first person we go to. Julian thank you so much for your amazing service.

They were consistently professional, polite, helpful, and easy to deal with throughout my time in the property. Their communication was always clear and prompt, and they handled everything in a very efficient and reassuring way. 30th May 2026 (9 weeks ago)We rented this house from them on a one-year contract. However, the house became too small for our needs, so we informed them that we wanted to move out. When the time came to leave the property, we cleaned the entire house thoroughly and handed it back in excellent condition. so we cleaned and improved everything ourselves. We paid the full deposit of £2,000 Before leaving, we thoroughly cleaned the entire property and made sure everything was spotless. We even sent them proof of the cleaning. Despite this, they unfairly kept our deposit. We made many requests and tried to resolve the issue, but nobody listened and no action was taken. So please be careful and avoid dealing with them. They are complete scammers.
24th Sep 2022 (3 years ago)I really wonder how come they have so many 5 stars reviews when they did not prove anything else other than unprofesionalism and unable to schedule viewings. They showed up on a Saturday unannounced and the agents can’t seem to get the times right. No cummunication whatsoever other than the automatic email confirmation. They do not reply to emails and do not care about improving their services. I am running very low on patience because of them and definitely this is not how you should do business.

Always has a good plan ahead and will tell me her thoughts openly and more importantly honest. The sales side really let me down on several occasions and need to do a better job, the lack of communication was very disappointing through out.

Then they supported us all the way in getting to contract exchange. Really, I can't recommend Daniel, Alice and the F&C team highly enough.

He was available at all times and had even created a WhatsApp group to help us navigate an already stressful transaction amidst a pandemic. He was very prompt in answering any correspondence and tried his best to ensure everything ran smoothly. As first time buyers, we couldn’t be more happy. We highly recommend them if you are in the market for finding a home.
