10th Apr 2026 (25 days ago)A few years ago, when my partner and I were looking to rent a property, I had an experience with this company that has stayed with me ever since. During the process, a woman named Gina was holding my passport and asked me whether I was a British citizen after I had simply asked for clarification about something. What made this particularly upsetting was that my partner, who was with me at the time, was not asked the same question. He is white, and I was left feeling singled out, belittled, and judged. When I later raised this concern, I was told this was part of a right to rent check. However, that explanation did not address why I was the only one asked in that way. Right to rent checks should be applied fairly and consistently, and this interaction did not feel fair or professional to me. Years later, I still remember how uncomfortable and diminished that experience made me feel. I am sharing this because I think people deserve to know how they may be treated, especially if they are from an ethnic minority background. I hope the company reflects on how these checks are carried out and ensures that no one else is made to feel this way.

17th Apr 2026 (18 days ago)I recently moved to the area and can now actually tell how pleased i am that i found Cottons and how have been treated. I got keys quickly and when I brought up a few issues with Natasha once settled in, she got on it straight away. The first man didn't show after I spoke to him but she chased other contractors and got all my issues sorted with in a couple of weeks. Im happy and can't thank her enough, thanks again Natasha and her team at Cottons.

23rd Apr 2026 (12 days ago)Phenomenal service from the whole team at Hick Hagley, from start to finish.- 23rd Apr 2026 (12 days ago)Very disappointed in Connells Oldbury Branch after speaking to one of the agents named Chloe told her about my situation and my partners that our Credit wasn’t the best, but we had A Guarantor and can prove with bank statements that have always paid our rent on time don’t know why I’m putting this on here but I asked to view Two four beds properties in Oldbury Bhullar way and and one on crosswell road when I was waiting on a certain day to view the one on Crosswell Road, apparently I’ve got a call and said that it was off the market as someone else had gone in for renting it so I said ok I was promise as soon as bhullar way Was emptied and the old tenants Had left I could have a look At the property from this Chloe person, then all of a sudden another property came up that was meant to view by this agent and her tyre blew out so she couldn’t make it to the appointment, so I left it. I was promised by a her colleague that I would get a phone call to find about bhullar way And up to this day still never had a phone call back or the decency for courtesy call just to say that they took it off the market they just went Ahead and took it off the market and didn’t even let me know. Talk about discrimination. This company is a joke or never use them again and advise people. To be careful of using this estate agent as to say that they don’t discriminate but it looks like to me that they do very unprofessional can’t do their job properly. Can’t even give a potential Customer the decency of a phone call that had the money for the rent and deposit and guarantor plus references so I had to go to another estate agents which was much better and more friendly estate agent. I would not recommend anybody to use Connells in Oldbury From my experience. There are much better estate agents at like innovate ,love postcode Paul Jackson and Others!

They made the whole process smooth and professional from start to finish. I appreciate their guidance as they guided me through every step and made everything easy to understand. They answered me very politely every time whenever i had questions and clear everything very nicely. communication was excellent- they were always quick to respond. Wasting our time completely when all we are trying to do is find a family home ! This company is absolutely useless. I will not be using this company again
18th Mar 2024 (2 years ago)DO NOT SELL YOUR BUSINESS THROUGH THIS COMPANY! READ THE SMALL PRINT This company are extremely aggressive and unprofessional. We advertised a business with them, paid an huge fee to advertise. Later after terminating, we agreed investment (not even a sale) from an investor we met directly, who was never introduced by Hilton Smythe. After accepting investment after terminating with Hilton Smythe they demanded their commission!! Totally unreasonable given it was after termination and the person who invested in our business was never known to or introduced by Hilton Smythe! They are now behaving aggressively and threatening legal action. We in turn have reported them to the ombudsman and trading standards. They are snake oil salesmen. DO NOT DEAL!
