Having dealt with several other estate agents during my search, including one purchase with another agent that progressed quite far before falling through with little support provided from that particular agent, I can honestly say the service at Hunters stood out. Vicky, Marissa and team were consistently friendly, responsive, and proactive throughout the process. They were quick to address any questions or concerns, providing clear updates and helping everything move along smoothly and efficiently. Their support made the stress of house buying feel much more manageable. I would definitely recommend them — thank you again!
16th Apr 2026 (19 days ago)100% Cash Buyer ignored – Complete lack of professionalism Extremely poor experience with the Denton branch, specifically Eleanor Price. As a chain-free, 100% cash buyer with funds exceeding £450k, I expected a basic level of professional service. Instead, the process was a shambles from start to finish. First, I was left waiting at a property because the agent couldn't provide access, followed by a flippant joke from the negotiator about "breaking in through the windows" rather than a professional apology. More importantly, after making a record-breaking cash offer of £235k, I was ghosted for 6 days despite multiple follow-up attempts. My formal written withdrawal was also completely ignored. It is clear this agency used my solid cash offer as a "safety net" or leverage to pressure other buyers while failing to provide me with even basic courtesy or communication. If you are a seller, be warned: this team’s inability to communicate or manage a high-value cash transaction could cost you a secure sale. If you are a buyer, be prepared to be played and ignored. Totally unprofessional. Update: I've made a formal complaint to Edward Mellor Denton and received a pack of lies in response. I've now escalated the matter to The Property Ombudsman (TPO).

Massive thanks to Mike and Liz for their professionalism, help, and genuine support. Thanks to them, me and my partner have our dream first house and we found the happier ????????????

Communication appears inconsistent, with different information provided at different times, which makes it difficult to rely on what is being said. There also seems to be a lack of clear structure, procedures and follow-through, which affects confidence in how the business operates.

9th Nov 2025 (25 weeks ago)Our experience with this estate agent, and in particular with Joanne, was extremely disappointing from start to finish. As buyers, we were made to feel like we weren't a priority, when it was clearly implied that her main responsibility was to the seller rather than providing a fair and professional service to both parties. We did everything requested of us promptly and with patience, but even basic communication was difficult, because her tone was often passive-aggressive and condescending, which made the process unnecessarily stressful, and actually really upset me a lot at times! On multiple occasions, we were pressured to complete tasks urgently, even when we were already working as quickly as possible. The final stages of completion were particularly frustrating, as Joanne was completely unreachable on the day - a moment that should have been exciting for us as first-time buyers. Thankfully, our solicitors stepped in to resolve the issue. However, the final straw was Joanne’s audacity in accusing me of being a liar and making inappropriate comments about others in the process. Her complete lack of respect and accountability is concerning and incredibly frustrating! I advise others to be cautious before dealing with this agency.

Being able to WhatsApp / keep in contact out of normal hours was a real help. Emma kept us updated at each stage and even went above and beyond. We would highly recommend.

It was a difficult time, but the professional and efficient staff at the Romiley office made the sale of the house so easy. From the moment I walked into the office, they were so helpful, they were always on hand for any questions and would reply to emails within minutes! If only all estate agents were like this. 10/10.- 20th Apr 2026 (15 days ago)I can’t recommend this branch highly enough. Jess and Stacey’s team supported me from the very first enquiry. Jess personally called me to understand my preferences and what I was truly looking for in a property. While she covered the usual questions, it never felt transactional—she genuinely wanted to understand our needs, not just whether we could afford something. She then arranged a meeting with a mortgage advisor to give us a clear picture of our budget, followed by a full day of viewings tailored to our preferences. I haven’t experienced this level of care and attention anywhere else. They made the entire process feel smooth and personal, and thanks to their support, we found our beautiful home exactly as we had hoped.

From the very beginning, they were professional, attentive, and genuinely committed to helping me with buying the house. Their in-depth knowledge of the local market made the process smooth and stress-free, and they were always available to answer my questions. In particular Laura always there to help. I appreciated their honest advice and personalized approach, which really set them apart. I highly recommend them to anyone looking to buy a property!- 26th Jun 2023 (2 years ago)Avoid at all costs. This estate agent are relying on reputation to get away with putting minimum effort into the promotion and sale of properties. When you sign up with them you are constantly pestered with their "partners" trying to sell conveyancing and other services despite the fact that they are not doing anything to try and promote the property. Topping that off they will trap you in an overly long contract which is nearly double the length of any other local estate agent.

18th Mar 2024 (2 years ago)DO NOT SELL YOUR BUSINESS THROUGH THIS COMPANY! READ THE SMALL PRINT This company are extremely aggressive and unprofessional. We advertised a business with them, paid an huge fee to advertise. Later after terminating, we agreed investment (not even a sale) from an investor we met directly, who was never introduced by Hilton Smythe. After accepting investment after terminating with Hilton Smythe they demanded their commission!! Totally unreasonable given it was after termination and the person who invested in our business was never known to or introduced by Hilton Smythe! They are now behaving aggressively and threatening legal action. We in turn have reported them to the ombudsman and trading standards. They are snake oil salesmen. DO NOT DEAL!

We had a huge amount of interest immediately, leading to plenty of viewings and several offers within days. A brilliant experience all round!

27th Mar 2026 (6 weeks ago)THE RUDEST ESTATE AGENT I HAVE EVER COME ACCROSS IN MY LIFE! Usually you would expect to be welcomed to to a property you are looking to buy, invited to park on the drive so you can see what it would be like to live there. Not Claudia Romano, who arrives 1 minute before the appointment, shouting out of her car door, "I'M THE ESTATE AGENT SO I GET TO PARK THERE!". And then, once we have driven around and finally found somewhere to park, has the cheek to tell us that we're late and we will not have a full appointment - when we were there first! Prospective sellers - avoid at all costs!!!

1st May 2026 (4 days ago)They pushed me to sell a property within their estate agency when they were on A6,then they sold it for far far more than i got( ok,they have refurbished it) but it was an inside job.So make sure they don't do this to you.

20th Feb 2026 (11 weeks ago)I wish I had instructed Paul to sell my property initially because it had languished with 2 well known agents for Months without any sensible sale plan/updates.<br>Paul offered straight talking, no nonsense advice. We had an offer within days of the viewings.<br>Go with an agent who is as committed as you are to sell and will add valuable insight to the process. You won't be disappointed with Paul.

10th Dec 2025 (21 weeks ago)NEEDED TO RENT AN APARTMENT.FOUND ONE IN PADFIELD,VIDEO WAS FORGOTTEN,EXCUSE,WE ARE HUMAN. APPLICATION FORM COULDNT BE OPENED.FOUR DAYS LATER WE MANAGED TO FILL IN APPLICATION FORM,BUT TOO LATE LANDLORD HAD ALREADY FILLED THE APARTMENT. WE THEN WERE DIVERTED TO AN APARTMENT AVAILABLE AT KINDERLEE. ON MONDAY WE WERE APPROVED,PAID THE £230 HOLDING FEE,WITH MOVE IN THE FOLLOWING FRIDAY,LUNCHTIME. HAVING HEARD NOTHING BY 2PM ON THE FRIDAY,I RANG JORDAN FISHWICK FOR AN UPDATE? WOOPS THE APARTMENT HAD MOLD IN AT LEAST TWO AREAS.AND ALTHOUGH FURNISHED,WE WERE INFORMED THAT THE TWO BEDS HAD NO MATTRESSES!! FURTHERMORE,WE COULD NO LONGER MOVE IN THAT DAY,BUT WITH LUCK THE FOLLOWING MONDAY,AFTER CLEANING. WE WERE ADVISED TO CHECK IN AGAIN AT THE TRAVELODGE(£70/NiGHT) NOT WANTING THE ADDITIONAL COSTS,WE CANCELLED,AND RENTED SOMEWHERE ELSE. 10 DAYS LATER I STILL AWAIT THE REFUND OF THE £230 HOLDING FEE. RUBBISH,AVOID,GO ELESWHERE!
21st Apr 2026 (14 days ago)Bridgefords were recommended by a friend, as they sold her house quickly. Initially we got an amazing introduction, we were impressed by the young man's hard sell if you like. They however, in 6 months got 3 viewers and didnt communicate very well. We had to get another agent who also gave an amazing introduction, but we have had 6 or so viewers with them and they send someone to show the viewers around who has amazing knowledge of the area and house. Not really had a lot of feedback from them really but they do communicate with me at least twice a month. I'm so disappointed as we want to downsize and retire.
